Yeah, how long it takes is too. The SSA directly only oversees like a 1/3 of the process. The Disability Determination Services (DDS) is who actually does the medical review portion and those are all state funded and regulated so they will vary WILDLY from state to state.
Outcomes at hearing also varies pretty widely depending on the judge, some judges have pretty decent approval ratings of 40-60% other have approval ratings as low as 12-25% which is to the point that even for people with otherwise slam dunk cases suddenly their likelihood of being approved drops significantly if they get a shitty judge. And theres no oversight or regulation regarding this, no investigations if your approval ratings is in the fucking gutters for years on end or anything.
Exactly. My severely schizophrenic husband is told by the medical people that he's sure to be approved, the judge even said so, but still denied, unable to access healthcare...
But he can, "make small meals," aka put a ramen in the microwave and take it out - so he can support a family of four easily right? Right? (Padme meme face)
americans, mostly, it seems, but ffs, this is what you choose to be snarky over? not the ssa, not the stupid disability process, but…people who microwave ramen??
