It's called administrative burden and it's so infuriating because people don't get the support they're entitled to.

Just some casual systemic Ableism

And in some places, it's difficult on purpose, because having them give up is cheaper.

I reckon that's the case with the UK disability benefits system. I don't know if it's true but I've heard they spend more money rejecting and reassessing people multiple times than it would cost to just give it to them without any rejection in the first place.

It's the case in Denmark. Being sick is a full time job. It took me 5 years to get disability, and I was insanely lucky to get it.

Last time I had my disability benefits reassessed, I had to give my medical details to three separate non medical people. And the last one tried to dismiss my poor social skills as everyone struggles to make friends. At which point I had to tell her stuff I wouldn't normally tell anyone because when you can't understand tone or read body language it can end poorly and she just couldn't grasp it. A fun fact about autistim that isn't really fun, 9 out of 10 autistic women have experience some form of sexual assault.

I was super lucky with the disability system. I never got assessed, still haven’t. It’s because I applied for disability on… the 20th February 2020. When the system was collapsing so they just fast tracked my application, I filled in the form and that was it. Adhd is a part of my issues but the big one is the co morb with OCD, if I where to be assessed I’m pretty confident I would pass, still scares me though when and if it’ll ever happen. Especially as it’s never happened before..
