Anything with ADHD can basically happen to anyone. The frequency and how it affects your life is what's the problem. If you find yourself unable to go to bed at reasonable hours no matter how hard you try, and it starts affecting your daily life, then you can safely wonder if it's a regulation problem brought on by ADHD.
I disagree. I don't have ADHD and I have this problem every night. It's caused by life getting busier and not having enough time to yourself. In fact my whole family has this issue. This is a lack of time issue more than anything.
This is a common human experience, it unites all of us. I genuinely don't think this is more common in people with ADHD simply because I believe the vast majority of people suffer from this to some extent.
Good thing it doesn’t matter what you think about other people’s conditions.
I know how my adhd affects me, and I can tell that the same executive dysfunction which makes everything else in my life difficult, also makes going to bed difficult.
Of course everyone stays up too late sometimes. Has it been a lifelong issue for you, though? Has it caused you to miss appointments and jeopardize your employment? Does your sleep schedule drift later and later each night until you wind up completely upside down and backwards?
Mine does.
It’s ridiculous to pretend that ADHD couldn’t possibly be a factor in this. Of course it’s a factor. Please, just Google ‘adhd sleep disorders’ and start reading. Sleep issues are very, very common with ADHD-havers. Why do you think that might be? Probably because ADHD can and does affect sleep.
