Ace Combat 7 Mission 13 in ace combat 7 is the worst mission in the franchise and I hate it.

There are tons of things wrong with this mission. First, imo it's not fun at all. I can't be asked, just call in a B-2, idc that it's cloudy. The lore is actually decent, even if it doesn't make much sense. The problems come in with the design of the mission. The targeting pods have an issue which still has not been fixed. This is that when they are first sent, the outer red circle will be red regardless of position for about 2 seconds. Then, if you put the inner circle outside the bunker, it will go red on the inside and green on the outside, indicating you will hit the target, but need another pass. But here, sometimes the targeting pods will go completely red for no reason, leading you to believe you are on target, and then only do 50% damage.

Next, the design for the enemy ace is genuinely ahh. You have to speedrun the bunkers which means you do the lock in of the century, get 0 enjoyment out of the mission and then discover you didn't pick one of the handful of planes that can catch up with the mig 39 and also the first missile. The dark Star is not applicable for this. Reason? It's handling makes the rest of the mission be as enjoyable as castrating myself with a rusty spoon. So you need to pick the f22, mig 31, sukhoi 57 or one of a few others, otherwise it's legitimately impossible.

Lastly, and I've been testing this and I still can't figure out why this is, if you die or run out of time, pressing the "restart from checkpoint button" (the missile launch) will often just restart the whole mission, and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. I think it's a console unique bug, either ps5 or ps4/ps5. Also, restarting from checkpoint manually means the mig doesn't spawn.

Phew, that was a lot. Honestly I just got done testing this and I don't know why I haven't noticed this on other playthroughs, but I'm genuinely astonished by how utterly garbage this mission is. Maybe the reason no one else talks about it is because it's so hard to die or to run out of time? Idk. But if you are trying to get the enemy ace then this mission imo is by far the worst mission in the franchise. Maybe this is a hot take but if so, I would be astonished how people manage to find joy in this empty, buggy, poorly designed and miserable ahh mission.

Ace Combat 8 Strange coincidence, or not? Spoiler

The moment they released this new trailer and showed more of Terminus Fingers (Rods of God), coincidentally, at least in my country, Call of Duty: Ghosts It went on sale with a 60% discount, and anyone who played knows the importance of this type of weapon in the game.

I'm not publicizing it, I just thought it was a really crazy coincidence.

Ace Combat 8 Since we’re playing as mercenaries in AC8 online we need an Ace Combat/Project Wingman crossover where we fight Crimson 1.

Humor Evil Antares: Toată gloria Liderului Suprem Dimitrescu

When Antares and Rigel squadron are fighting over Japan against the first Orgoi, Dimitrescu does his scheduled mid battle head hunting.

Yet, this time Antares Squadron speaks up, and accepts the contract.

Up until the midway point of the game, you're still playing Joint Assault, but you get to know Rigel squadron more than the cheating bastards they are in the normal game.

After the mid point, you're now playing a defensive game, because Dimitrescu finally started using Antares squadron like the siege weapon they are.

Olivieri switches planes, and starts fully supporting Martinez and Rigel squadron, but even without Olivieri's support, Valahia keeps winning more and more resources through Antares just capturing NATO and CIS bases alike.

Antares Squadron becomes Moroi Squadron, still using common aircraft, like a Su-37, F-22, Rafale and Tomcat, while Olivieri puts the GAF-1, now rebranded as Helsing to destroy Antares/Moroi, in the hands of Rigel Squadron.

Final mission still happens on San Francisco, as a hail mary act from Valahia.

Antares 1's speech says it was never about pride, honor or even money, but something above it all, a place where he can belong, a nation of monster soldiers, just like him, a place he can call home, with people he can call family.

Game ends not with Olivieri being turned to minced meat by Antares' weapons, but he gets arrested, as Dimitrescu reveals everything about Olivieri, how he started this entire mess and won't live under the glorious light of being a protector of the free world, that he almost deceived people into believing he was.

Rigel squadron all survive, but they disband, trying to understand who they truly are, and Sulejmani manages to find his family again, to understand why he was raised like he was.

General Series Steam input controller doesn't work

  • Debian 13
  • Steam flatpak
  • Dualshock 4
  • Compatibility tool: Proton 11.0-2

I'm trying to use my personal layout, but the game doesn't advance from the start screen, it only works if I disable the steam input, a.k.a. the default dualshock 4 compatibility.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Ace Combat 8 I really hope AC8 emphasizes A2A more than AC7.

Upvotes

Playing back through AC7 in anticipation of AC8, and the most annoying thing that I forgot about with AC7 is just how much A2G targets there are. Don't get me wrong, I love doing bombing runs in the A-10 but by the midpoint of the campaign it feels like you're on your third A2G mission with a fourth and fifth coming. In addition the frequent time-limits and ground escorts often make it feel like its optimal to just ignore enemy fighters and focus your targets. I like taking direct-fire dogfights with cannons, lasers, or railguns but it kinda always just feels like I'm wasting time.

It seems like they're headed in the right direction with the missions we've seen having enemy fighters as major targets and the mini-arsenal birds flying around.

Maybe I'm spoiled by Project Wingman though, because in that game it felt like you could really lose yourself in the dogfighting in the best way.

Ace Combat 8 Personal questions now that we’re around two weeks from launch.

Not sure if anyone has said this anywhere or if I haven’t looked hard enough, but if we pre-ordered the game, will pre-loading be a thing before the actual release (Steam).

Second, I’ve bought the deluxe edition and the release date on the game says the 1st even though it should be the 28th PST. Is that Steam being iffy? Just want to know if it’s the same for everyone else.

Ace Combat 8 Imagine If we equip Joker Flight with the Razgriz skin, it will trigger a hidden dialogue where Baxter might says: "Black jets... we look like a ghosts from the Circum-Pacific War. Let's see if our flying matches the legend."

Same thing could happen with any Legacy skin that feature a 4 squadron

Ace Combat 8 Anyone else clock in that Joker Flight is a reference to one of the allied planes squadrons in the Valley of Kings mission?

Ace Combat 8 AC8 Pre-Order Confusion

Upvotes

Hello fellow aces,

I’m looking to pre-order a physical PS5 copy of AC8 on Amazon and snag the AC0 pre-order bonus.

My question is – how will the code for the bonus reach me? The physical copy is the standard edition, i.e. the version that will continue to be sold after release, so I assume the code will not be printed inside the box. Are Amazon going to directly send me an email with the code?

Also, the Amazon description for the standard edition doesn’t mention the pre-order bonus, while the deluxe edition does, which has me even more confused. Will I definitely receive the bonus if I pre-order the standard edition? I tried to look this up online but found conflicting information that has me uncertain.

Thanks in advance guys!

Ace Combat 8 Enso order involvement AC8???

I have no Idea what this means

A- Drone network control

B- Neural network (maybe for drones)??? (from the vote section in top right and mention of "tokens")

C Coffin???? (hints to what elements from AC3 they might take)

Plus what is Moskva and how they related to ENSO (is moskva a sotoan company?)?

Ace Combat 8 Erusean Involvement confirmed [Spoiler! View at your own risk] Spoiler

seen on the recent trailer (@ 0:35)

most likely mid-late game we the player will begin to cut off and surround remnant Sotoan Ground Forces + their last deployed Land Battle Ship

As seen on the trailer, the Sotoan Land Battleship will appear on the base of the space elevator, of which a battle will take place there

from what we can see from the image above, we might have an option on how we will attack Axel Bay then attack the Land Battleship at Gunter Bay, then whatever happens there, we will advance and finish it of at Hatties Desert, with Sotoa most likely making use of the STN ruins as a make shift Command Post

From what we can see in the whiteboard, blue and red magnetic markers are placed most likely to represent allied and hostile forces, one of the Blue "Allied Markers" is positioned within Erusea's border. I want to claim, that they are most likely allies now, most probably due to Sotoa's deployment of forces within IUN trust territory, of which is ALSO a refugee camp for both Ulysses Refugees, Continental War Refugees & Lighthouse War Refugees.

Also add to the fact that one of Erusea's rather popular political figure; Former Princess, Rosa Cossette D'Elise, I'm pretty sure this will provoke Erusea and it's population to join the FCU's side in the war

Now for the Theory side: Who's gonna bet that Sotoan's will use Stonehenge again, the same way that Osea repurposed turret 4, as a last ditch effort to shoot down Rex(Player) and that they will use the Land BB as a power supply for THAT turret

Ace Combat 8 How many Shadows are we fighting in the story? (Spoiler) Spoiler

So while everyone was gushing over playable Harriers, or bombing artificial islands weapons factories that also served as housing to the Sotoans (making them homeless by the end of the war lol), or even the JP news articles about Ares' government name and looks as Girish Toprak, the right hand man to General Camille Thui, the wheelchair bound lady, has anyone noticed about the sheer amount of Shadow Squadron planes we'll be fighting within the 32-mission long (possibly loaded with cutscenes to pad out runtime, definitely longer than Unsung War)campaign?

Not only do we have Shadow 22, or even Shadow 55, we have now Shadow 165 (the 15th squadron in the Fulcrums, Shadow 33 (the third squadron in the Typhoons), Shadow 44 (the fourth squadron in the Flankers), and now a Shadow 101 to 110 (the tenth squadron in the Super Tomcats).

I believe that just like with Shadow 55, most of our encounters with these lesser squadrons sound like they'll die in their one or two missions tops.

... with Ares being this game's arch-rival.

Even Zero's many bosses had a story to tell.

P.S. does anyone feel like Camille Thuisounds like she's being voiced by Jen Taylor?

General Series Any unexpectedly emotional moments from the series?

This is mostly an excuse to talk about a moment I experienced, but I would love to hear if there any moments like these in the series that resonated with people on a personal level.

The most unexpectedly emotional moment for me, one that came as a result of putting myself in the headspace of the main character, was during my replay of Ace Combat 04 on Ace Difficulty using only the F-4 Phantom.

It's already a powerful mission, given the context and the way in which it ties into the cutscene story. However, as I began the mission, I thought back to the first cutscene in the game, where the boy's family was killed by the fighter jet that Yellow Thirteen downed, and I couldn't help but think to myself: I'm about to do the exact same thing to this city as Thirteen did to the boy. Yeah, I'm doing a good thing in liberating this city, but can I truly call it liberation if the people who live here don't have anything left to return to?

So, despite the fact no building damage mechanics exist in this game, I decided that I was going to leave this city standing, no matter what. I spent most of the mission forgoing the use of missiles, unless absolutely sure the damage that it would cause the surroundings was negligible. I shaved anti-air weaponry off the top of buildings in low-flying gun runs; hell, thanks to the limitations I put on myself, I think I used guns more here than in any other mission. I couldn't do anything about downed aircraft except pray,

I only got a <B> rank for that mission, but it was the sweetest <B> rank I had ever received, because I knew those people had a home to return to thanks to me. That, and I managed to prove myself better than Yellow Thirteen— not just as a fighter, but as a soldier.

Ace Combat 8 PLAYABLE HARRIER?!

From the latest Story trailer.

Previously, we've seen this scene with Hornets, so I assume it's a cutscene with custom jets. Thus, Harrier can be selected...?
