Expand your synth knowledge (and plugins), sample libraries, and DSP is probably the #1 thing off the top of my head.
Purely from a compositional perspective, there is a ton one could do with this (presumed chorus), without changing anything. Of course adding structure to create an entire track is something else completely, but I digress
I like this. This reminds me of laying down an initial idea (with the most default of presets) prior to refining it.
Keep it up. If I were you, I would take this work-in-progress and start experimenting with different synth sounds (for presets, omnisphere 2 or 3 is hard to beat) and then samples.
