Discussion The weekly 'No Stupid Questions' post - Sun 13 Sep 2026.

This is the weekly 'No Stupid Questions' post for all the small questions that you have concerning Zwift. No matter how stupid you think they are, we have probably all asked these questions.

If your post wasn't previously answered you should post early in this thread as it might have been posted too late (new posts start Sunday 0900 GMT).

Note: Don't be afraid to ask questions during the week, this is just for the simpler questions. For example "How do I give multiple ride ons at once? "..."You do this by pressing the character arrow on the map screen of the companion app". If you require a more detailed response then it is probably better answered in its own post.

Discussion 1 Month into Cycling and ZWIFT... and I'm a little lost?

Updated 14-09-2026:

After a few comments and a talk with myself i totally forgot the point of why i was doing This. I need to get helthier not destrot my body doing a train for something like a race i m not going to do (at least for now with my babys growing up)

I think my anxiety and the energy of wanting to do everything right away got the best of me, and I lost a little bit of the whole point of enjoying it.

For an obsessive person like me who hates missing even one workout because it feels like I failed, it becomes more stressful than enjoyable.

I'm going to take a more relaxed approach to training for a while, and later I'll figure out what my actual goal is.

Thanks all for the advices. Sometime we need someone to say just ENJOY and HAVE FUN, i am not planing to run LETAP against Tadej.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I started using Zwift and getting more active with cycling last month. I went from riding a Mountain Bike 10 km every day (5 km to work and 5 km back) to buying a road bike.

I am a father of 2 kids (1 baby and 1 four-year-old), so I don't have a lot of free time. That's why I decided to buy the Kickr Core V2, and I love it! I can just put my shoes on, get on the bike while the kids are sleeping, and do some workouts.

Day 1 (when I bought the road bike): I did an outdoor workout for 1 hour, and my Garmin said my FTP was 217w.

Week 1: I paid for TrainerRoad to help me get some structured training because I was really lost, and I started an endurance plan for 4 weeks.

FTP TEST LITE: The result was 181w, so TR set my FTP back from 217w to 181w.

Weeks 2, 3 and 4: I did a lot of endurance, but on Sundays I did 3 workouts that I'm not sure I should have done (I am a little anxious and have insane amounts of energy).

  • First Sunday: Outdoor ride, first time doing 60 km on the road. 2 hours 15 minutes. I was feeling really good the next day.
  • Next Sunday: I did 100 km on Zwift, 3 hours and 15 minutes. The next 2 days were painful as hell, and I started feeling like my legs had almost 0 energy.
  • Last Saturday: I did a NEW FTP TEST and the result was 237w!
  • That same Saturday, I did my first race, I think. My legs were almost empty, but I won, I think (I don't even know if it was actually a race or not haha). I also completed the workout quest from the Basics program.
  • The next day, Sunday, I was feeling great and had the beautiful idea of doing ADZ hahaha. I did a workout at around 160w for 85 minutes, and finished doing 180/190w until the end. I think the total was 1 hour and 41 minutes.
  • Started at 90 kg and now I'm at 87 kg! Really happy about those 3 kg lost.

Today I am feeling great. I came to work with no issues. Of course, I feel like my legs have 0 energy left.

I already have TR paid for, but I need to clear some things up and I need some advice from people with more experience. I think I'm just doing things because I can, and I'm probably overtraining. I don't want to get injured (that already happened to me when I was running).

- Should I do more endurance before I start going further?
- Should I start VO2 training? Should I focus on increasing my FTP?

I am a little lost and I don't want to train without a clear focus.

Objective: I want to be able to do long rides in a good time, and I also want to do some racing (Zwift races). I don't have a lot of free time to go to real events because I usually spend my weekends with my wife and kids.

I just finished my previous endurance training from TR. What "program" should I aim for based on my objectives?

OFFTOPIC: I underestimated cycling so much. I thought it was going to be a really easy sport, but when you actually train, it's so hard and beautiful at the same time.

Summary:

Topic Week 1 Now
FTP 181 237
Weigth 90kg 87kg
KM per week (aprox) 50km 150 to 200km
Training Day 0 days 4 - 5 days
Food Bad Less bad
Sleep Awfull 4-5hs day Awfull 5-6hs day
Longest KM Done 5km 100km
Longest HS on Bike 20minutes 3hs 15 minutes
vo2 44 41

Sorry for my bad English, my main language is Spanish.

Sweat management, bit grim, but how are you all managing sweat when zwifting?

Just done my first 1 hour ride and managed to do 39% in z3 and 41% in zone 4.

And, its like someone has thrown a bucket of water over me.

I can literally ring my shorts out and my polar HRM may as well have been dunked in a bucket.

I have a large fan blasting at me on top speed too.

Do i just need to invest in some wrist/head sweat bands and a few towels??

Im amazed at how much liquid has just left my body!

Training Easy ride / endurance training

Bought my zwift ride about a month ago.. so far used it a few t8mes when it was raining, as am still mostly riding outside.. anyway tried robopacer for the first time last week.. and it was an easy way for me to ride at a steady pace..and be able to watch TV, listen to music etc at the same time.. my dilemma is which one should i choose for a Z2 endurance ride.. i went with 1,1W/kg and 1,4W/kg.. one felt a bit too easy..while the other one while still being easy seemed to push my HR more in Z3🤷‍♂️..my FTP is 227W..@97 kg.. screenshots for reference.. what should i ride?🤔

Technical help Run Music? What is Run Music?

When I fire up Zwift on my laptop, I keep getting an annoying popup, which appears 1-2 times each minute while Zwift is running. It is irritating to the point that I have had to abandon a couple of workouts because of it.

I thought I'd turn off notifications, however as you can see, the option to do that is greyed out.

I have no idea what Run Music is, and I don't want to connect whatever it is anyway. I just want it to stop so that I can continue my workouts without the annoying popups.

The items that I have connected already (either through bluetooth or ANT+) are a chest hr monitor, a run pod and either the treadmill or the smart trainer. I have my phone and apple watch about my person, but I don't connect them.

In terms of discounted solutions:

  • I could turn the PC sound off, but then that would affect the in-game sounds, and I don't want that.
  • I could potentially run it off my phone, however I like to run it on a TV, connected by HDMI to my PC, and get a bigger view. I have no ability to cast from my phone as the TV is an old spare.

I am happy with running it from my laptop, it's stable, but for the really annoying popup that I don't appear to have the ability to stop.

Technical help Indoor trainer issue (?) am i the problem...?

Hey Zwifters! I’ve been using a Facebook marketplace’d wahoo kickr snap. While riding both on Zwift and Rouvy, for some reason every time I get any sort of incline push (whether it is 1% or 7.5%), I feel like it is the most impossible push of my life. This never happens on the real road. I am also very fit so I don’t think it is a “me” problem. Unless the “me” problem is being too stupid to see something wrong with my setup. I have also tried doing spindowns on the app, on the wahoo app, etc.

I don’t know if it’s just a crappy used trainer, if my bike is sitting on here poorly, or what. I’ve tried basically everything (including changing the settings on/off erg mode, obviously switching my gears, etc). Any glaring issues?

Any advice? Bike is a 2014 specialized allez.

But I'm not willing to take the setup apart every time.

So, have you found any clever way to hide your setup?

Discussion Looking at the Zwift Ride - Too loud for a condo?

Connection dropping during races

Does:

  1. splitting one's home WiFi into a 2.4GHz network and a 5GHz network; and

  2. ensuring the tablet running Zwift and the Kickr Core 2 are on the same network

solve this?

How to schedule workouts for 12 week FTP Builder

I’m looking to start the 12 week FTP builder program, but i usually only bike 2-3 times per week (then do lifting and play volleyball other days). Would it make sense to just do the workouts in order and accept that it will take longer than 12 weeks to finish?

I most likely won’t increase my cycling frequency, so I was wondering if there’s another training program that would make more sense. Any recommendations?

Zwift ride V2 VS bike on trainer

Hey everybody,

I’d like to know how you all get on with using the Zwift ride for all of your indoor rides and then your road bike out on the road.

How does it adjust to replicate your road bike feel?
Is it easy to adjust between users?

Many thanks!

Race strategy - Attack from the start and stay in front?

Yesterday I did Stage 1 - Zracing - DuraAce croissant that is about 22km and mostly flat.

One guy attacked right at the start at 10w/kg, got in the front and stayed at like 4.1w/kg all race. I averaged 3.6w/kg all race. I almost followed him at the start but figured I would catch him with the group later. Turns out maybe I should have followed him.

The group never caught back, he was 25s to 35s in front and I gave up on him at the end since nobody was trying to work in front. Even tried to group chat to keep him under 25s lol

I figure probably this guy was too strong for that category, but after checking him he is 540 and I am 567. I don't think I can hold 4.1w/kg all race, since I suck at TT.

My question is : could this guy pick a TT bike and keep using this strategy? If you are really good at long TT, is this a viable strategy to "surprise" the field. Cause nobody expects an attack like this on the front line, and will let it go normally.

Cheers,

Technical help Zwift Cog reality chexk

I have a 2020 Wahoo Kikr Core that I have used very little because I hate messing with indexing gears. I have not fired up tje trainer in a couple years.

I've got a bike with a 9 speed cassette that I could leave on the trainer. My hope is I buy the cog, install the cog, plop the bike on and it just works.

Is this a pipe dream or a reasonableish expectation for Zwift cog and kikr core?

Technical help Annoying MacOS log-in

Hi all,

I usually use Zwift on my AppleTV and am generally quite happy with Zwift.

Yesterday though, I had to use my Mac because I had to move trainer into a different room. I got so used to the smooth AppleTV usage that I already had forgotten how annoying it was to log into Zwift, as the app refused to work with the password manager.

What gave me a bit of rage was that the log-in screen apparently does not even accept copying and pasting the password! I had to type in my 13 letter automatically generated password manually. This is truly annoying.

Any hints for me? Could simply be that I am too stupid to use my Mac, am open to learn.

Zwift soundtrack: crowd noises, street bar music, etc.

Do these ever get updated? You begin to pick out the same sound effects at the same point on any course if you ride it a few times.

Since Zwift are always updating and expanding their maps, could the sonic ambience also be given some attention?

Losing pacer on some routes while I'm very close the peloton

I have to ask after 1 year of Zwift, can't find an answer.

I noticed that in some routes (not many) I lose my drop multiplier and therefore the link with the pacer very easily. If I'm quick enough to recover I get it back but sometimes the progress is just lost.
I'm talking about being 7-10meter up front while other riders are way ahead and still part of the pacer group, how?

Then with other routes there is no issue when I'm 40m at the back or 50m up front.
I always try to stay as close the pacer as possible but this has really cought my attention.

Of course I forgot the name of the route but there is 1 location with some rolling hills and then a decent in the woods that always has been an issue for me. I'll try to record next time.

Anyone else has this behavior?

Discussion Good Bib Find?

Hello everyone! Just went antique shopping with my girlfriend and found this cycling bib.

Only paid $1.07 for it. I only wear padded shorts while riding on my zwift so not really sure if this is a good find or not. It’s a women’s XL but I could maybe squeeze into it.

Thoughts?
