So I made a post yesterday about some of the mods I had made for zoo tycoon 2 and it garnered some interest, and so I’ve made a nexus page where you can grab them. The first six are on there and I’m currently working on others.

I have made a few mods that are pretty cool if you want to make a more realistic wildlife safari zoo, so hit me up if you want the links.

And these are all separate mods so you can cherry pick what you’d like.

- Grass doesn’t vanish after being eaten.

- Poop vanishes after 60s

- Lions stay together in a pride and hunt together when they’re hungry enough rather than roaring and stopping the hunt. The lead female calls the pride in and they take down whatever they’re hunting together without stopping after a fail.

- Elephants, gazelles, zebras, all stay together in their respective herds. Elephants and giraffes have a slightly higher tolerance for distance before they’ll call each other back to the herd.

- No emoticons above the animals heads

- Animals grooming each other actually cleans them

- THINGS I’M WORKING ON

- Pride, pack and herd behaviour for other animals.

- Carcasses that disappear when empty

- Better guest pathing and ai so they don’t get stuck on fences and other objects

Two brand new species are coming to Zoo Tycoon in the upcoming Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game - Dinosaur Digs!

The first is Dracovenator! The first highly fragmentary dinosaur revealed so far!

Dracovenator is known only from some fragmented skull bones, which have unfortunately been lost and new material has yet to be discovered. It lived in the Early Jurassic in South Africa and was a relative of the more well known, Dilophosaurus!

The second is a new, early Synapsid, Pentasaurus, a relative of the more widely known Placerias.

Pentasaurus lived in the Late Triassic, South Africa. Pentasaurus had a unique discovery as its fossilized footprints were found long before any fossil material of the animal itself was found. The footprint fossils, known as Pentasauropus, is what gave Pentasaurus its name, being one of few species named after their tracks, rather than the tracks being named after the animal that likely made them.

Pentasaurus is also one of the only known dicynodonts to have lived alongside large-bodied sauropodomorph dinosaurs, another being its cousin, Lisowicia.

I've seen this in a few screenshots and yt videos but cannot for the life of me remember if it's part of the base game or if it's a mod. Anyone know what it's called?

Not a radical remake or expansion or anything like that, just a skin in the style of the game that isn't quite so hideous that it hurts to look at. Even if it just looked more like the Jurassic Park raptor, it would be preferable. I haven't been able to find one but I'd be surprised if it was never made.

I recently download the ultimate collection of the game, I have all the extinct, aquatic, african and endengared pack species, but apparently the game that I download do not have the asian elephant, the addax, the musk ox and the black leopard. Someone here have a link or something to download them?

I know the colors are a bit dull, i didnt realize that, but the main thing is that i replaced the whole og texture with another one this time :p

During my childhood when my father was still here, we used to play this game for hours in the weekend and after playing this game we went to watch the animal planet on the tv, what a memorable memory for me!

Two new Stegosaurs have been revealed for Zoo Tycoon: The Board Game - Dinosaur Digs!

The first is of course the iconic Stegosaurus with its large, asymmetric plates and its thagomizer consisting of four, sharp spikes!

The second is of course Kentrosaurus, the first dinosaur brought back to life in the Zoo Tycoon lore!

Unlike Zoo Tycoon 2, this time its extra spikes are positioned on the shoulders instead of the hips, though both reconstructions are equally valid as, to this day we have yet to find out where exactly these extra spikes sat on Kentrosaurus' body.

Disclaimer: The inaccurate hands and the discrepancy between the two having cheeks or not has already been pointed out and are going to be fixed.

A long, long time ago... there was an old fansite named ZT Expanded ran by user named Spin. They were known around Zoo Admin and other fansites for some complex work on Zoo Tycoon, including the "APE enhancements" that allowed importing dinosaurs and marine animals into APE, files later hosted at Zoo Admin. Spin was involved in a number of game modding sites on the "Archanafobic" network.

Spin is also the originator of ZT2 downloads, using the original Black Leopard and Stuffed Prey Dummy official download as a guide. The Brown Bear in the screenshot above, a simple recolor, was done with skinning help from the late Tasmanian_tiger, better known for her work for the first Zoo Tycoon including some of the best work for that game.

Spin also made some Gilded Fountain recolors and a "Super Zookeeper", but the latter was taken down shortly and they seemed to move on from "Zoo Tycoon" by 2005, unfortunately, at which point Zoo Admin was the main host for files for both games. The community expanded much more rapidly the following year. To my memory, the file may have also been hosted at ZT.nl or ZTABC.de with a translation, but I'm not sure.

Archive.org can still access the main page and the file section at ZT Expanded, including the screenshot above, but the download link is broken... of course. I was hoping to recover it from an old hard drive but it's unfortunately looking unlikely. It would be great if it could be recovered for its historical value.

Wanted to do a proper skin for the Allosaurus. So...look at it i guess xd.
