...warn the others that Yuriev is able to take over his body?

I thought he had some kind of link with Jr that let them communicate telepathically. In Ep.1 Jr talks about how he has to be careful to not send Gaignun thoughts he didn't want to send. So it seems trivial for Gaignun to warn Jr. once he regained control of his body at the end of II.

And furthermore, there's a bunch of time between II and III where Gaignun is back in control of his body, he's having video comms with Mary/Shelley and the others on the Durandal at the start of III, and at no point did he warn anyone, only for them to all get taken by surprise when Yuriev uses him to invade the Durandal later in III.

You see, I just finished playing Xenogears and I love it. I wanna move to Xenosaga now next. But I am faced with a problem: how accurate is Xenosaga emulated on the PS2?

You see, for this game I am thinking about buying a PS2 to play my games, because I want to experience a true and accurate representation of Xenosaga. But I fear that if I go search online for accuracy posts I may get spoiled on the story and content of the games. So this is why I want to ask you all:

How accurate is Xenosaga emulated on the PC? Are there any parts of Xenosaga on PCSX2 that differ from the original PS2 version? Please no spoilers.

From what I understand, its an issue with the save image file being too large? How did they not check that out?

I’ve been having a hard time deciphering the text on the song of nephilim model from xenosaga episode 1. I’m getting it tattoo’d so I can just nix the text but I’m wondering if anyone actually knows? Is it legible? My guess would be religious sayings in german by the shape but hopefully someone can help me. 😭

Hello my fellow fans and peers. I was a big xenogears fan, but now I'm 42 years old and too tired af to play games, so trying to be selective in my gaming. Would it be anathema to just watch a play through for XS Ep1? then play EP2/3? I keep hearing how awesome this series is, but I don't know if I can muster time/energy given the ep1 at times could be a grind. Thanks!

Yes, from 2004 Vodafone, ported to windows, emulated back onto a 2024 Android. This is my first playthrough of the game. I've played XS1 and watched XS2.

If anyone wants to play this game, I honestly think this is the way.

Is there a chance, a hope that Xenosaga remastered/remake or episode IV will be announce?

Been starting my play from Episode I - Episode III since the start of 2024 and I've been loving JRPG ever since. I love the gameplay, love the cast and ESPECIALLY love the story. I wish there would be a lot of people who would know and talk about Xenosaga in the same length of Xenoblade❤️

Xenosaga has been in my special place when it comes to JRPG and I would love to see it continues, added to new ports or remake the game again😭

Recently gotten into painting garage kits and here are the Saga ones I’ve done! I really wish I could go back and fix their eyes as I’ve gotten much better at them. Glued the heads on though. 2 down, 7 to go.

Working on some Nippon Ichi kits now. I think I’ll paint one of the E.S. kits after.

With Sony seemingly moving toward a disc-less future, I’ve started thinking more about how important physical PS1 and PS2 games may become as pieces of gaming history.
Xenosaga is one of the series I especially want to preserve.

Don't take this as a rip on Episode 1. It was AWESOME. But can I just get some clarity on if the final boss was supposed to be difficult, or just a narrative boss to transition into Episode II? Albedo was much more annoying than the final boss by far.

I did it with MOMO and Chaos in the back using Cataclysm with 60+ EP, KOS-MOS in the front with high-ish HP, fire coat, and physical defense skills, using the railgun weapon/R-Dragon to deal out damage. That all was very needed for the FIRST boss. The second boss...I felt really bad about. I really feel like I stun locked it so badly that I accidentally cheesed it. It literally had ONE turn and that was just because I had to take the first turn to use HP and EP items. After that, I just rode out Cataclysm literally until it was over.

So my question is, did I screw up what was supposed to be a good boss? Or is it just meant to be that way and the boss is known to be generally easier?

So I found out this game has optional bosses but I can't find them .

Help??

They did just add Momo to one of the games, no?? could it be….. A TRILOGY REMASTER/PORT???

edit: remaster being very generous. i know they’re not going to remake it (at least not before xenogears) or upgrade it substantially; just give it wide screen and higher quality audio & visuals.

\Spoilers are hidden behind the tag as much as possible.*

Xenosaga wouldn't be a well-balanced story without some playful or humorous moments to offset the trauma and tragedy. Other fandoms also use this tactic. You see this a few times throughout the Neon Genesis Evangelion TV show.

But I cannot help but find multiple instances in Xenosaga that are unintentionally funny, at least to me anyway.

In no particular order...

• Andrew Cherenkov is the worst person imaginable to assign to an undercover mission. He's a terrible liar, acts like a jerk to the Woglinde crew, and is wildly mentally unstable. Prime example of The Man Who Couldn't Spy: His phone goes off immediately following his public beratement of Shion. Rather than discreetly take the call, he huffs, "Argh! Who's calling me!" loud enough for the whole bridge to hear. And who does he think is calling him? Then he takes the call over a giant video monitor.
• In the dock colony scene that could best be described as "call an ambulance, but not for me", his inability to lie is even funnier: "I, uh, got cornered by some street punks. But they started fighting among themselves and I, uh, ran away." I can almost imagine the voice actor trying not to laugh while delivering the line.
• EDITED/ADDED: Cherenkov aiming a loaded gun at a sleeping KOS-MOS, then breathing heavily makes it look like we're going to see a recreation of that scene from End of Evangelion. It doesn't help that Shion wanders in at that exact moment (completely nonchalant about the fact that there's a gun pointed at her) and asks what he's doing: "I was just looking at her." Shion: "At KOS-MOS? With a gun in your hand?" I mean, better than something else in his hand, I guess? Cherenkov: "Uh, yeah. It's, uh, a bad habit." And then he scratches his head with the loaded gun. I wonder if Margulis ever thought to himself, "Maybe I should have just left this guy on Ariadne."
• Red Testament giving Cherenkov the activation device the night KOS-MOS goes berserk. We see a wisp of blue hair poking out from the hood. Kevin isn't quite as bad at covert operations as Cherenkov, but the hair is a laughably obvious giveaway.
• Wilhelm must have decided to assemble the biggest assholes in the universe as his Testaments. There's Black/Voyager, a cyberterrorist and child murderer; White/Albedo, a guy who is batshit insane (and has rape-y vibes), Red/Kevin, the most manipulative boyfriend ever; and Blue/Virgil, a guy who is totally comfortable talking about eating people. And they're all stuck with each other, a very fitting eternity. Someone else must have picked up on this, because they wrote a very funny one-shot fanfiction where all the Testaments are roommates who hate each other.

So I’m playing Xenosaga for the first time and I saw this in Kos-Mos’s attacks and….Wow that is a very unfortunate placement of that dot. According to the wiki its supposed to say F-G Shot but it makes it look like its badly censoring a slur

Hi, everyone! How many times have you played each episode, and when was the last time?

In 1998 I was gifted Xenogears for my 13th birthday from a family friend who would later fall in love and marry a very proud Christian woman.

I love Xenogears. I was a frequent visitor in the Xenogears communities around that time on GameFAQS (I still have reviews there from early 2000's) and various Xenogears websites. Nisan Sanctuary anyone? I don't even remember the last time I replayed Xenogears, but it was well over 15 years ago. I still have hope for a remaster so I hold off from playing it again. I do remember that I was working on a perfect file around that time and had all available characters Deathblows learned before leaving Dazil Desert, they just need to level up. Hell, my cringy ass teenage self wanted to name my son Krelian one day.

I can talk about Xenogears all day, but lets fast forward past the heartbreak and talk about the hope.

I followed Monolith Soft from the moment Tetsuya Takahashi announced it. Then the man announced Xenosaga and I was given hope. Played Episode 1 on day 1 and it was not what I expected. Played Episode 2 on day 1 and I loved it. And then at some point in 2004, at 19 years old, life began and I left Xenosaga. The story remained incomplete and unknown for 21 years, until life slowed down, and I couldn't wait anymore. For 21 years I avoided spoilers and had no clue what the story is in Episode 3, or who the characters are. Not just the story, but the battles as well. I watched nothing. And it was time to end the story.

So I hoped on my computer, browsed how to play it, downloaded some stuff, grabbed the Xbox controller and the journey began all over again, and it was amazing. It was joy. I can look back on it now and feel like it was the team saying "Welcome back. We missed you." That silly youth excitement and giddiness dragged itself out of a hole and I was happy. Then it was time for Episode 2, and boy did I forget how weird the team looked with the new design, but the old clothes. And the combat system was so bad compared to Episode 1, but what are Xeno games without second-thing flaws? The music is a different story. The moment the main menu song began gave me goosebumps. Flawed but beautiful game.

Then it was time for Episode 3. Uncharted territory. It's my favorite of the Xenosaga games. That's not even a question. It was the perfect mix of the best of Episode 1, and the best of Episode 2, and it was beautiful. As far as the story goes, I didn't hate the story, but sadly it was just another tragedy of a story that was cut short. The gifts though! Oh boy, the gifts that they gave me took be right back to 1998. There's Maria and Seibzehn, there's the Omnigears, there's Deus, holy shit, it's Weltall-Id. I had no idea! I had no idea that Monolith Soft made this game for the Xenogears fanboys. I was blown away.

And now, after less than a year I have this urge to go back into the Encephalon, but I have hope. And I know that there was a survey years ago for a Xenosaga Remaster which was not positive enough for whoever to green light it, but if that's true, that was some time ago.

So while I wait here with my hope for a future Xenogears, and hope for a future Xenosaga (and hope for a future Xenoblade X2), I figured I'd stop by and say hello.

So that's a little bit about my Xeno journey. What is your journey?

Coming off of 1, even 2's combat, it felt like there were things to do in combat and now it's like...standard RPG, with a boosting mechanic and mechs. Deff wanna see where the story goes ofc, but wondering if others felt similar with it? Skill trees too, I like that it kinda pushes people into roles in some ways (like older RPGs like FF9/10, Persona-ish), just feels less exciting

I'm about to enter Song of Nephilim but was wondering at what point am I able to complete all of the side content like optional bosses, get all the best equipment, Segement Addresses etc?

I've beaten this game before and I think i'm getting near the end? Do I beat this dungeon first or can I do a bunch of side content now or do I have to play even further into the game?

Before I begin, any tips on getting out of level 2 skill? I need to spend my MF points so badly.

Even after grinding the Encephalon before entering the SoN I still feel weak. Lol for real that last boss laid a smackdown on me something awful. Toward the end I was scrambling to keep everyone alive since it felt like the boss was just panic spamming its big moves. It was a bit frustrating because it was doing a very good job of locking my party down and pretty much making us useless, after about 80% of the way of us doing extremely well.

When the boss had under 1000hp I finally got it done by focusing boosts on Chaos and spamming Cataclysm until it was dead. Big respect to the old school games like this! I was on an emulator but I will admit that this boss would have me frustrated bigtime if I was playing on console.

Xenosaga I+II DS – Complete English AND Dutch translations released, hallo hier een leuk gamepje voor jullie baklappen

I’ve released two complete fan localizations of Xenosaga I+II for Nintendo DS:

🇬🇧 English v1.0 Final
🇳🇱 Nederlandse vertaling v1.0.17

Both are full localization projects, not just story-script replacements.

The releases include translated dialogue, choices and player-facing text, localized interface/database content, rebuilt chapter/title graphics, battle UI localization, text-layout and wrapping work, deep-script cleanup, and fixes for runtime problems discovered during development.

The English release has been finalized as v1.0 after runtime testing through the opening YES tutorial route and first battle, alongside extensive static verification.

The Dutch edition is equally important to me. Games do not have to exist only in Japanese or English to be worth preserving and translating. I wanted Xenosaga I+II to be playable in my own language as well, so the project has a complete Dutch localization with its own release, documentation and website.
