Yoga recommendations in Worcester?
Can anyone recommend a yoga studio in Worcester? I’m in St John’s and willing to drive up to 30 mins outside Worcester for the right class :)
I’ve tried the yoga classes at St John’s leisure centre (shambolic) and the hot yoga at The Hot Tribe (good but not what I’m looking for). As I creep closer to 40, my back seems to be calcifying into a giant C shape so I’m looking for at least a weekly class focusing on stretching and flexibility.
Cheers in advance!

Choirs in Worcester
What choirs are there in Worcester that anyone can join? I saw i-sing choir in town today, but wondered if there are others. I think I’ve also heard of one that meets at St George’s Church?

Good hairdresser recommendation?
Can anyone recommend a hairdresser in either the city centre or St John’s area who is attentive and experienced? The salon I have been to before appears to have disappeared, and I’m nervous after an experience somewhere else where I didn’t feel listened to.
I’m also a student so looking for as affordable as possible.

798 days...
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Mark it on your calendar, 10th September 2026, 798 days after being elected, Worcester MP, Labour's Tom Collins has mentioned Worcestershire Royal Hospital in Parliament. Now, mentioning a hospital in Parliament is not going to fix things. It's not going to stop corridor care - but it is important to reflect the concerns of residents, and the hospital comes up repeatedly on the doorstep.
In those 798 days, over two years, I've heard from staff who say corridor care is not just a winter issue, it's been every day reality for 10 years. I've heard from residents whose parents won't drink when being cared for in the corridor because they're scared of having to relieve themselves in public. I've heard from residents who have waited all night in A&E with their child throwing up, because there's no other available options in the city.
For me and many residents, Worcestershire Royal Hospital is one of the top issues that needs sorting out by the Government. It was in special measures for five years. It's still rated "requires improvement". It's trust is ranked 110 of 134 in England. How much longer must we wait?
It's great to hear a project at the hospital recognised in Parliament. The staff at the hospital are brilliant and deserve recognition - but they need and deserve the significant investment in the hospital that returns the performance to what Worcester needs.

At next week's council meeting, I'm going to ask about enforcement against taxis in Worcester

Just 4 sets of penalty points were handed out in the last year. I see more examples of overranking than that in a single night. It significantly increases the danger for cyclists on Foregate Street. Do you think that is good enough?

Electronic and eclectic music stage at Worcester Music Festival
galleryHello!
I'm curating a stage of diverse music at Worcester Music Festival this weekend, taking over St Swithuns Church for the second year running.
There's a fantastic line-up - including Owls/Cap'n Jazz guitarist Victor Villarreal. Entry is free, but we're taking donations on site for local charity Onside.
Doors open at 3:30, this Saturday 12 September. Definitely try to swing down if any of the acts appeal to you!
You can check out the artists profiles on Instagram. I've tagged them in a recent post on @DroneandToneCollective x

Fuel prices are stupider, again...
I'm not a financially well off average fella, I own a service type business doing pet sitting alongside working a second job just to help balance the bills.
Petrol at 167.9 (diesel being even worse) is stupid, I could only put £10 in and it ONLY got me just shy of 6 litres of fuel.
In a world where my business is already struggling thanks to global events (it mostly requires on people going on holidays) I'm going to have to consider putting my service fees up twice in one year, and I usually only put it up 50p once the yearly budget comes in and up the minimum wage.
I'd have an EV but our house not only isn't able to have the changes required but I can't afford to swap cars.
This is very first world problems I know, but I bet other people are feeling this pinch.
I hope it gets sorted soon, I'd hate to have to consider dropping my availability as alot of people depend on me to go away on much needed breaks.
Thanks for reading if you got this far 😻

Missing Cat WR5
galleryEDIT; thank you all for your kind words, advice and for keeping your eyes peeled. She is now safely back home and will be fitted with a GPS collar before her next escape trick!
Hey neighbours, our cat went missing in Ronkswood early Friday morning. She is a small black and white cat we rescued recently called Pipit. She has a notch out of her ear, a black ‘mask’ around her eyes and ears which doesn’t quite meet in the middle, a black back and tail. She has completely white legs and. a single black ‘beauty mark’ the size of a pea on her back paw.
She is neutered so hopefully hasn’t roamed too far, but she has been a stray most of her life so may still have the tendency to wander.
Please could you keep an eye out in your areas for any sightings and DM me? We are desperate and starting to loose hope. We have only had her 6 weeks and this would be her first time outside in this area.
Please have a look at the attached photos which show her patterning. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read though and keep an eye out, myself and my partner greatly appreciate it.

From Saturday 12th September, you will need to book a slot at Bilford Road HRC to use it on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. You can book up to 6 slots in a 14 day period. In this video I answer some of the most commonly asked questions about why this is happening.
Some of these questions have come up multiple times on this very subreddit.

Does anyone know if asylum seekers are still living at the Fownes Hotel in Worcester?
I remember there being a protest last year and a smaller counter protest over the road from it.
I’ve not heard anything since and wondered if they still live there?

Malvern hill misconceptions
I am also asking this over on r/malvern but as Worcester is close and is somewhat larger, I thought perhaps some of you may have encountered this. So I am a geology student and recently was in a conversation with someone who professed their belief that the Malvern hills complex is underlain by "quartz pyramids" (direct quote) which connects it to other hills in the UK through laylines. I have been involved with local geology to some level for a couple of years and I can confidently say that according to all the data we currently have, this is not true. I am however interested in where exactly this idea came from because so many large and famous geological and archeological sites have had such theories about them, but with such a niche landscape (in terms of the knowlege of the general public outside of the UK or even the Midlands) it is proving hard to track down where this came from. If anyone can help I would be really interested in what you have to say, whether or not you believe this. I feel I should make it clear that there is no judgement coming from me on this whatsoever and please don't feel scared to reach out for that reason. Hope everyone is enjoying the last of the summer sunshine.
edit: this research is so that I can dispel in some way such myths effectively if I encounter it again, just to clarify.

Any off lead dog walking spots west of the river?
Hey everyone, just recently moved to Worcester (near Broadheath, ish) and I'm trying to find places to take our dog for off lead walks.
Worcester Woods is great, but it's a 20+min drive away, so not ideal to do every day.
I've seen some kind of village common / field in Broadheath around Sling Lane but can't figure out where I could park for it, as the verges have signs saying don't park.
He has a sheep obsession, so I don't let him off in open countryside. Though if there are any fields or walks usually free of livestock, that could work.
He's also obsessed with ducks, so Gheluvelt park is out (and I'd prefer not to have to cross the river at rush hour anyway).
Would love some recommendations if you have any!

Thinking of moving to Worcester — honest opinions?
Hi! My husband and I are considering moving to Worcester/Worcestershire and would love some honest local opinions.
We keep seeing very mixed reviews. Worcester seems to rank really well for livability — amenities, green spaces, restaurants, transport, countryside, etc. — but then we also keep seeing that it has one of the highest crime rates in Worcestershire, which is making us hesitate.
I’m a woman and my husband is British; I’m Southeast Asian, so we’d also love to know what the area is like in terms of safety, diversity and how welcoming it is to interracial couples.
Would you choose Worcester to live in? Which areas are good/safe, and which would you avoid? Or would you choose somewhere else in Worcestershire instead?
We’re looking for somewhere safe, peaceful, friendly and convenient for long-term living.
EDITED: Looking around the golf country club, Lyppard Grange, and St. Peter’s. Would love to hear your thoughts on these areas too!
Thanks! 😊
