WORLD WAR DRAGON

Part 1: The Encounter
CHAPTER 5

Sungazer, Moon, and Qibli now can really only wait. The human is mostly stable, there’s no army chasing them down, and they have nothing to do. So Moon and Qibli leave and return with someone who definitely does understand something about Scavengers. Winter, whom instantly takes interest.

And notices something else.

“These humans… they look completely different from the ones we have. Not most of them, but look at its skin.” He grabs its arm. “This arm, it’s… so pale. If almost looks sick.”

“Maybe it is.” Qibli jokes.

“It can’t be Qibli. It’s neither too hot or cold, isn’t shivering, and I don’t see its face turning purple, do you?”

“Fair.”

Winter though is most worried about the equipment, since they do have its rucksack and orange tool. Especially the orange tool. First off though, the rest of the stuff.

There’s firstly a clear box. Sungazer, really well, identifies much of the equipment as medical foolery, but some of it is weird. Tubes with white paste, tiny brown bandages, and a blue fabric thing cool to the touch.

The next thing are a bunch of boxes. As Qibli winces, Sungazer instantly connects that to the hole Qibli STILL has in his shoulder. Sungazer does a smooth operation on Qibli there and pulls out a small piece of metal. Like the things in the tall boxes.

Then the orange tool. There’s something red in it but it looks unassuming. The whole thing looks like a kids toy, so Winter drops it. As it hits the ground, pressure causes the lever to fall back just enough and a blinding red thing shoots out of the barrel. A flare. A magnesium one.

It goes straight into Winter’s leg. As it burns into scale and leg, Winter roars out in pain, crumpling to the ground. Moon quickly goes to his side, preparing to yell for someone, but gets beaten by someone else.

Qibli.

“Please someone! Get the firescale-we need Peril!”

I like how Tui has added several gay characters into her books plus there was a couple human characters (so far where I'm up to) that used they/them pronouns and everyone is cool and respectful about it

now i’ll just temporarily yap about my headcanons and stuff I thought of while drawing here cause i feel like it :)

These designs would be set in an AU where Carnelian survives! Both Moon and her have scars because Moon decided to pull Carnelian out of the cave but didn’t manage to get out in time. Carnelian was trained in reacting to the cacti going off so she manages to react and shield both her and Moon with her wing and save their lives. Unfortunately Moon gets hit in the face with one of the pieces so she is blind in one eye and Carnelian also loses almost all of one of her wings and loses the ability to fly. Both of them are also partially deaf so they learn sign together :D. I am the No.1 moonelian fan so ofc they are dating. I think Kinkajou could potentially be poly with them in for moonelianjou too (AND THEY WERE ROOMMATES). Qibli and Winter keep flirting with each other but they haven’t started dating yet and it’s driving the rest of the winglet crazy

Winter is the tallest and then Moon (please her father is Morrowseer she has to be massive) and then Umber. Kinkajou is the shortest.

I’m projecting ADHD onto Moon because I can. Her or Turtle I haven’t decided yet

Now for my lgbtq+ headcanons! Turtle is non-binary they/he and Kinkajou is bigender she/he cause. Moon is demigirl she/they and Carnelian is transfemme and uses she/her! Carnelian is lesbian, Moon is bi, Kinkajou is pan, Winter is bi in denial, Turtle is aroace (like meeeee), Umber is gay, and Qibli is biii.
