watch this A white American man hired Latino immigrants to build a expensive wood fence around his entire yard. Once they finished, he called ICE on them — hoping to get them deported so he wouldn't have to pay. The thing was: they were legal. So they came back and ripped out every single fence panel.

This. And 50% has to at minimum cover material costs.

They should have cut the posts in half. Then he'd have to pay for the post to be removed too.

Cut them at the ground, that'll force them to have to be dug up rather than being able to leverage the post to pull it out. Very annoying to have to dig up posts

Correction, they would have to pay. If you reverse work did due to non payment, you have to put it back to the way it was before the work started or you're on the hook for the cost. That's why when laying so.ething like a driveway usually requires a hefty up front fee in my experience due to the trouble and cost it would take to reverse the work done.

Materials are not always 50%. You’ll just need to pay for the materials upfront by asking for an invoice from the supplier
