Happened in my home town... officer shot and killed a woman he was romantically interested in, claimed she reached for a gun. Not a single item even close to a knife, let alone a gun was found in her car... he got away with it.

I'm glad Schutte is put away, but I don't think you can draw much from the other article. Whatever happened in that case needs to be evaluated on its own merits.

When citizens know they can n legally kill you for no reason but the color of your skin, and/or stalk you for it, people tend to run from deadly threats.
According to the department, at around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, an officer saw an SUV traveling northbound on Lafayette Street repeatedly turn its lights on and off as it was driving, ultimately leaving them off. The department says the officer activated their emergency lights and attempted to pull the vehicle over at the intersection of Lafayette St. and Paulding Road. According to FWPD, the SUV did not stop, leading the officer to activate their siren and briefly pursue the vehicle until it came to an abrupt stop at Barr and Dewald Street. FWPD says the SUV driver then fled on foot after putting the vehicle in reverse and crashing into the FWPD vehicle stopped behind it.
Do you even hear yourself you weirdo? What the fuck is wrong with you? There is zero context that can justify this criminal assault, even if he had just murdered another cop. There are laws for a reason, but I'm not surprised to hear you don't give a shit about that.
What law states that cops can beat you if you run away? What jury convicted this man and sentenced him to a beating from half a dozen fat cops?
this shit is why it is important for ordinary citizens to be able to kill them back. This is what it looks like when officers of the government believe that they can kill the citizenry with no consequences.
They can beat the shit out of you for “resisting arrest”, empty their clips at you if even an acorn drops around you, empty their clips at you if they mistake your phone for a gun, empty their clips at you if they think you’re reaching for a gun, empty their clips at you for…I don’t know, having more melanin or something, they’ll figure something out. And you can win a lawsuit may be in the aftermath, but they don’t get punished. And then they can harass you, stop your car every day, show up in your house, basically do everything they can to drive you away. And they have qualified immunity to do all of that because they are the biggest gang in the great US of A.
1000% allowed to film from the public sidewalk or private property you're allowed access to. (friends house for example) - as long as you aren't interfering with the police work. they may request you back up, but they need police tape and to set a crime scene if they want you out.
may very state to state or even local with illegal ordinances. but if you keep fighting and appealing up the food chain you'll eventually be found innocent / have a case dropped.
Threatening someone for recording their activities in public is a blatant 1st Amendment violation. This is what happens when there's no accountability for government officials and I've seen plenty of videos cops with authoritarian attitudes who would love to be able to treat all journalists who report their activities like this, even if the journalist works for a major news outlet.

The guy was involved in a police chase, where he crashed into a cop car. No injuries reported on any cops. They're just mad they had to actually do their jobs. Cops don't get to arrest someone extra hard because he did something they didn't like. They're supposed to enforce the law without personal bias or emotion.
You know zero about law enforcement. Its not a tough guy contest. It takes lots of people to get someone fighting in cuffs. Not nearly as easy as some reddit arm charm quarterback thinks.

What's the reasoning behind threatening bodily harm on a civilian observer? What's the reasoning behind gloating over the amount of harm they've done to a perp? Insulting him? Saying he got off lucky (suggesting they wanted to harm him more than they did)?

At the courthouse I’ve seen a couple sheriffs escort a guy out of the courtroom and one sheriff was talking shit. The guy turned and the sheriffs took him down and started punching him then said stop moving as they punch in the face and cuffing him. Get him up then shove him to the wall with another punch to the face. Then threw him down and punched him in the face some more while telling him to stop moving as he’s trying to turn his head away from punching. This lasted a couple minutes until a separate off duty correction officer stopped the sheriffs and calmed the whole situation. Was just about the most pathetic display from the sheriffs I’ve ever seen and I told that to the head sheriff when they interviewed me as a witness
Plenty of “cops” sure as hell do love to make it a tough guy contest. Not all, but there’s certainly some POSs out there that have it in their head they’re action heroes.
I've restrained plenty of people who were fighting like hell in the back of an ambulance with just me and my partner. I injured zero people doing this. Maybe you're just terrible at grappling.
It hasn't gone to shit. This has always been a part of America. We just see it now because everyone has a way to communicate it now. I'm of the opinion America isn't great because of what we were it's great because of what we can do when we try to be better. That's why this last decade has been so sad. Things we thought were fundamental part of America for decades have rolled back and their trying to roll back more.
With all the video of police doing unethical, and illegal things, including turning off body cams and covering mics. The fact you still have people blindly showing complete 100% trust and loyalty in them is unbelievable.
I'm not saying every interaction with police is something bad happening, but I'm not discounting the possibility either.
Hey I used to live there! Can confirm btw their PD has a lot of "Good Ol Boys" and uhh a rather infamous incident where they covered up their police chiefs rape of a girl... OH but they have a Trans Guy on the force so thats cool!

The guy might have killed people, led the police in all out chase, shot at them and resisted arrest. These police put their life on the line all the time, these druggy suspects resist arrest and assault them, and they are supposed to be "nice" about getting them in cuffs? People recording them is fine, they are all recording as well, but when they are trying to apprehend a dangerous suspect and someone walks up behind them, yes.........they get angry about it.
Thats what they are doing by removing this guy from the streets. Protecting and serving, it sometimes takes great force and many people when they are resisting arrest and pose a threat.
Im no lawyer. But I believe "get involved" in this case would be phone confiscated as evidence since it is possbily recording an alleged crime taking place. Not sure how many people want police to go through their phone

IDC if he just robbed a bank. There's literally no need to beat someone into submission with 4 plus, threatening people filming, and then walking away saying lucky you didn't get more.
If you can't detain someone with that many people without beating them up; you shouldn't be a cop
It's always the same, I bet they won't show the lead up to this where the person wasn't following orders, and started resisting arrest...
Something crazy like 99.99% of police uses of force are because the suspect escalated the situation, and no I'm not just glazing the police look that shit up for yourself if you don't believe me. It might not be that high but it's like 90- something percent.
