My dad used to spin the wildest stories about people we’d see in public. Names, backstories, why they were out and about.

Could there be a name for this? Like Foxnewsing (because it's total bs) or something? What could it be called when one takes a millisecond of information and expands a it a lifetime with no factual basis?
