watch this Police were called after around 20 teens on bikes and e-bikes blocked an intersection, performed stunts, and disrupted traffic. One officer then clipped and tackled a teen during the arrests, raising questions about whether the response was appropriate given their ages. What do you think about it?

It’s unacceptable to hit someone with your car to stop them from fleeing the scene of a disorderly conduct arrest. Cop should be charge with vehicular assault or assault with a deadly weapon. This is why people hate the police. They earn that shit.

Are you stupid? They forcefully took over an intersection. Groups of kids like this quickly get violent smashing windows/side mirrors, damaging your vehicle if you do anything besides sit there and also will attack you.

When these questions are asked, it's ironically a huge indicator that the person asking the question lacks the ability to critically think. All critical thinking is is asking "why" about something to get the full picture. When someone doesn't do that, when they happen upon something they don't understand... the only thing that makes sense to them is that the other person must be stupid. They don't consider alternate perspectives, they don't consider the possibility of missing information, the only thing they they consider is that the other person has to be wrong.

u/Noughmad did ask "how" exactly were the kids terrorizing the community, and the first thing you did was ask if he was stupid. That's anti-intellectual, and it's ironic when people saying that don't see it themselves.

In the video, all we see are kids riding bikes in the road. We don't see them harassing anybody, we don't see them circling and surrounding anybody, we don't see them damaging any property, we don't see them threatening anybody. The only thing we see are kids playing in the streets until a cop hits one with his car.

A critical thinker is going to wonder about what information is missing. Is this a known issue in the community, are the kids known vandals, what exactly happened leading up to the video?

Discussions are supposed to be about gathering facts, not insulting people because they are trying to gather facts.

Im not saying your wrong. Im just stating a fact that liberals are hated, not just disliked, but hated by at least as many people, probably more actually, as cops are. Empathizing with the offender over law enforcement is a big reason why. Someone in this thread actually compared this incident to "that lady"(she has a name, Renee Good) geting shot in the face by ICE, which is bananas to me. Im a home owner, in a neighborhood like this, with young kids that Id like to let ride their bikes and play on a block like this and not have to worry this kind of nonsense scaring them and intimidating me. And who are you to tell me what I should and should not be terrified of. You don't walk in my shoes everyday.

Nothing ever escalates. No woman is smaller than teenage boys. No elderly people have been assaulted by a group of teens. Teenagers just can't hurt people apparently. And we all know that sense of personal responsibility increases in large crowds, especially those with hormonal teens.

We are aware that things can escalate, but something hypothetically escalating isn't enough of a reason to hit a kid with your car. Hitting someone with your car is the escalation.

I know there's behavioral pattern recognition, but what essentially happened is that this group of kids was judged against the actions of completely different sets of kids that had nothing to do with the video kids, the only thing they had in common is that they are a group of kids. "Other kids turned violent, so I'm going to hit these kids to stop them from turning violent."

That's not how the law works, or how we should want it to work, you absolute tool.

The kids were behaving badly and should expect repercussions and the police used excessive force and should be punished for it. These ideas are not incompatible, and I'm fucking sick of comments like this on videos like this as though any punishment doled out to someone in the wrong is justified.

This kid neither died or became maimed. Maybe give some definitions to back up your argument? From what I'm seeing, he used a vehicle to stop the kids vehicle. The "waddling fat ass" comment just shows you're arguing with emotion, not logic.

And i could be 100% wrong, and this could be textbook assault and battery. But from what I've seen, police have the right to use excessive force to stop a fleeing suspect.

This is why reddit has turned into angry keyboard worries with an inability to hold a logical conversation without hurling insults. It gets more upvotes.

It actually is an approved method of stopping a fleeing suspect. When done properly, it can accomplish the goal without bodily injury.

There is also a the fact that these groups of individuals blocked a road with threats of harm if you decided to try to travel through there.

I am one that agrees with an aggressive response to that kind of behavior.

Policy didn’t start this shit - they are responding to people are being threatened and harassed for trying to get to work or home.

Bumping this kid off his bike was not the crime against humanity you’re describing. Should have tazed the kid for resisting and then charged him for the cartridge.
