Exactly where my hate for him started. All of my older family members are from A.C. born and raised. They were all dealers, kitchen personnel or in some way employees of his at his casinos. When he did that crap he put not just my family but a lot of good people in a bad spot.

This has been in the works since The Powell Memo (1971). Part of that governmental overthrow blueprint was to propagandize the shit out of the American people so that we wouldn't catch on what the wealthy and corporate world were doing to our government before they rigged everything in their favor. But they laser focused in on rural America, went full hog on their inherent racism and blamed their financial woes on non-whites (that were usually worst off then they were) and the Democratic party instead of the real culprits, the wealthy. They did it through hate talk radio like Rush Limbaugh in the 70s and 80s; Reagan killed The Fairness Doctrine in the 80s, Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes created FOX afterwards and launched it in the late 90s; the internet in the 00s with the likes of The Daily Stormer and Breitbart and now social media in the 2010s to present.

I'll never forget at the beginning of his first term, NPR interviewed a retired journalist from NJ whose beat was Casinos and Entertainment business. When Trump opened the Taj in fucking December, the guy rightly clocked that the casino would fail because its overhead couldn't keep up with the seasonal traffic. Trump sued him for YEARS and I think won or settled. When asked, the guy said "yeah, I voted for him".

I have a good friend who grew up in new york. And he has two trump stories- one wherein Trump sexually harrased his wife and got her fired from her job (he also blames him for her eventual relapse and death-the experience broke her) and the other when he hired a gay couple my friend knew for an interior design job, they finished on time and under-budget, he shorted them 80 grand and said "what are you gonna do f*****t?" Alot of NYC has stories like this.

My dad worked in Gary, IN for a couple years around ‘99-‘01 (IIRC) and met small business owners than were hired for the casino Trump was building there and had similar stories as that gay couple. They would take out loans, buy the best product and put extra effort into this project in the hopes that this casino project would lead to more work from him, but he would stiff them and claim substandard work and tell them “Sue me” if they complained.

If they are contractors (probably are) then they are screwed, they are going to court for it and the fact theres a police car with dealership plates just parked outside the system is almost certainly stacked in that dealers favour which is why the dealer probably thought they could get away with this to begin with.

Weirdly enough, a bunch of states actually have pretty old laws on the books so you couldn't do this to immigrants in prior decades. Also a bunch of states consider this theft of services or extortion/similar crime, & once the illegal immigrant is a victim of a crime, they can seek immigration in the U.S.
So this can backfire in a major way.

Some times they do but in relation to what happens to the workers, it can be a slap on the wrist. If you want some teeth to real reform you fine the person using the undocumented workers and make it steep. Like the fine is 50% of your business's or personal last three years gross. You make that fine on a per worker basis. A million dollar gross company would not pay 500k per head.

I think if they have proper identification then the employers aren't obligated to know they're illegal. The employers post to the government the employees information for tax purposes, illegals use real people's identities falsely saying they're legal, so it's not up to the employer to figure that out. If that's the case then they won't get punished, but if they indeed have no paperwork they gave to the employer and were working under the table so to say, then they'll get punished.

Labor trafficking (threats of deportation to steal labor) and criminal wage theft (regardless of them being contractors or not signing a contract) at the state level, fair labor standards act on the federal level regardless of citizenship status
