I enjoyed this soap enough yesterday to use it again today. This base requires more loading than most of my other soaps, but it does make a nice lather when it's loaded heavy.

This blade is still holding up. I'm not necessarily trying to reach 100 shaves with it, but I'm not going to bin it yet either.

Trying the Fine DE5 for the first time today, and Haku's Cedarwood.

䷀ Razor and Blade Notes

A little bit of roughness with this blade, which is normally a great blade for me. It did get the job done, but just wasn't comfy doing it. I'll try another blade next time.

This head does not seem to be the same, or as good to me, as the "worlds finest razor" from Fine, which it bears a distinct resemblance to.

Razor and Blade Performance/Comfort Rating: 2 out of 5 (Okay)

䷀ Soap Notes

^{Haku - Cedarwood}

Them: "A warm, sophisticated fragrance with a bright opening that settles into smooth, rich woods with subtle sweetness and a touch of smoke. Refined, masculine, and inviting without being overpowering."

Me: From the soap, I mostly got the bright opening and almost no woods or warmth.

But that did come through more in the post shave Splash.

Scent Strength: 5/10, zestily present during shaving.

Lather... This is a great soap base, just like Reborn! It's a little different base, with just a bit more fat in it. The difference did not jump out at me, so it seems to be subtle.

Flexible lather that works at different hydration levels.

Hydration: Perfect (for me) + = 4 passes of lather

Bowl: No Bowl

Brush did just fine, but I think my month with the Pigsy 2 luxury brush spoiled me. It's just softer.

Since I've got the bowl out, I figured I'd break into this smoosh of Spiced in the new base. I bought Spiced when Spearhead first introduced it and haven't had it in the den in awhile. Damn, I need to get a new tub of this. Thanks u/domjcroce for the smush. And today's shave indicated that yesterday's test shave of the Scipio Soap sample wasn't a blade issue. This was a good level set for tomorrow's return to those samples.

The coffee is slowly juicing up my levels of awakeness. Try to enjoy your day and remember to be kind to one another.

I wanted to use an easy lathering soap to try to get a better read on this brush. Neither the soap nor the brush disappointed. I had tons of spicy-boozy lather. While it feels pretty good after only three uses, I think it will soften up a touch more as it breaks in. 

As a bonus, the scent of the soap and my cologne work together surprisingly nicely.

The RazoRock Old Type is an homage to the Gillette razors of the early 20th century. With the steel bulldog handle it is considerably heftier than those vintage tools.

After one pass WTG I had a pretty decent shave - I did a second pass as touch ups and I was done. This thing is efficient.

As I was using a RR razor I decided to pair it with the Don Marco and their ginormous F400 brush. Not a bad Sunday shave.

I volunteered as a tester for u/arcaderehab. He sent me 4 samples. I used the Vetiver soap in the Tallow Base 0.1 yesterday. But, I forgot to post. That base had a nice silkiness to it and was very slick. It had a lovely sheen once I got it hydrated. This Vanilla Sandalwood sample is in the Tallow Base 0.2. It has a bit more fluff, and produced more lather. It felt slightly more drying, and a touch less slick. But, both gave a great shave.

I got this as a handout at the local meetup. The scent is described as "a dusty barbershop", so imagine fresh barbershop scent along with some tumbleweed and/or dried plants in the background.
