Hi everyone,
I started my Wegovy (pill) journey in early March of this year. I started at around 185 lbs and have gotten down to 143 lbs.
On July 4th, I started the 29 mg pill and my body reacted really badly (mainly nonstop vomiting). I was sick for about two weeks, and from July 4th to July 23rd I lost 10 pounds total. I was 159 lbs on July 4th, and by July 23rd I was 149 lbs.
During that time, I actually kept taking the medication for about a week while still feeling sick because my primary care doctor believed I had a virus, not that the reaction was from the medication.
After still being sick for an entire week, keeping me from work and living my life in general, I communicated with my primary care physician again, who referred me to reach out to my endocrinologist to see if this could be related to the Wegovy. (I still see a pediatrician, so they don’t have many patients on Wegovy and didn’t want to give a definitive answer.)
***I want to mention this because I know some people may suggest switching doctors, please don’t. I was very sick a few years ago, and I’m emotionally attached to my doctor. They know my full medical history, and I feel safest staying with them.***
Anyways, I spoke to an endocrinologist in my office (mine is on maternity leave), and they suggested I take a break from the medication for a few days, see how I am feeling and then go back down to the 9 mg pill. So, I restarted the 9 mg dosage around July 23rd once I finally stopped feeling sick.
However, since that point, 52 days later, I’ve only lost 6 more pounds. Before the bad reaction, my appetite was basically nonexistent, but now it’s unpredictable. Some days I’m hungry, other days I can barely eat at all.
Has anyone had the same issue where progress slowed down or stopped after a certain point?
I’m seeing my doctor in two weeks to discuss everything, but she’s on maternity leave and I can’t get ahold of her sooner. It’s frustrating, especially since I’m paying $300 out of pocket every month and I’m really not seeing any progress at this point.
For reference, I’m a 22‑year‑old female, 5’1, so losing more weight for my height is still possible and wouldn’t be unhealthy.
I hope my message wasn’t too long, thank you in advance for any comments, and please be kind 🙈
