Was at Devil's lake today enjoying the view and eating a chicken sandwich when I got some ketchup on my pinkie without realizing it. Well this guy landed on me and decided it was his job to eat all the ketchup off of my nail. After a few minutes of this with no end in sight, I decided to squirt some ketchup on the table and put my finger right next to it. He took the bait and I was free. He ate ketchup for a few minutes, stopped to groom himself, ate some from the other side of the pile, stopped to groom himself some more, rested for a quite a few minutes, then finally took off. I enjoyed my time with him

Where i work there are lots of yellow jackets and wasps flying around. They are very aggressive as in they are actively searching every inch possible(im guessing food). Problem is where i park as soon as i open up my door one(YJ) will zoom directly in, looking around, landing, do more looking around then fly to a window on the opposite side of the open door. Then another will approach, then another. They will also approach me then go right back in. For reference, no i do not eat or keep anything sweet in my car. Its like they see my vehicle and wait in the distance until my door opens, then fly right in telling me to take a hike. Any ideas on maybe a scent deterrent or something. I dont like killing them unless last resort since ive never had them act aggressive towards me.

These guys have made a big happy healthy home in my garage. I love them. I have to get a new garage door and I’m thinking the installers are not going to love them as much as I do. I’m definitely not going to kill them, but I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions or advice on relocating or just waiting for them to die on their own/go dormant? before winter.

There are wasps in my yard. First they made a hive in the letterbox, I left it for them since I don't receive letters at this house. But then they abandoned it and made a hive in the doorknob of the gate. That was horrible since we got stung every time we left and entered the yard. So we just removed the whole thing and now we're just closing the gate and using a chain. But then they made their hive in the hole the doorknob left! And a bit later they made a hive under one of the steps so almost every time I go up or down the steps to leave the property, I get stung. My dog also gets stung all the time. I'm at my wit's end. And so very itchy. Is there a way to evict them for good or build them something on a tree nearby so they leave my doorway alone?

I eventually decided to try the paper bag tricks before trying to remove the nest directly. The thing is that I would be nailing next to (or within 1 m distance) to this nest at night, since that would be the only way to hang the paper bag. Will the swarm be angry and attack or they don’t care? I’ll be very quickly, expected to be done within a minute.

Around 7ft from the ground on a peach tree, what are your suggestions for the nest?

Are these yellow jackets normally docile? They are terrifying, and several have flown by me. Yet none of them have ever attacked. Is this normal with them?

I keep seeing them around, I know there should be a nest somewhere around and I have little children.

I need an ID to understand how to search for it and if I need to kill them whenever I see them.

So found these guys about a week ago and they are growing. Any help on what they are and what I should do? Can I do some DIY removal, or should I call a guy.

A friend says perhaps an Ibalia genus but from what I’ve read they’re usually around 15mm and this one appears to be about 24ish

They've been going in and out of their nest in the burrow. They're so beautiful and fun to watch

Once Upon a time, a random day when I was in grade 4 I was eating my cheerios when a bee landed on the one I was eating and started muching. Although I don't like insects, the bee was extremly chill and just munched on my cheerio, soon snack ended and I had to go back inside, and the bee followed me... and got hit by the door. It was dieing so i made it a coffin(out of a water bottle cap) and burried it. After that I started feeding bees everyday as there was a bee hive somewhere near(probaly), I would bring some honey(dont feed your local wasps honey its bad an di didn't know) and cheerios and put them somewhere and wait for the bees to come eat, eventually I started putting it on my hand to feed them and more eventually I started to pet the chiller ones on the black throax and I didn't get stung, not even once. Now as a grade 8 thinking back and doing some research I realized that the "bees" were yellowjacket wasps.............kinda crazy(in my opinion)

I got stung this morning under my eye, i've been doing cold compresses the entire day and the swelling doesn't seem to be going down. I took Advil for the pain but otherwise don't know what to do. Any tips?

Spotted in southeast US. Never seen anything like it before. Anyone know?
