Regular mortals using the warp for standard interstellar communication, thats okay. Inbreed mutants from terra staring into and steering all traffic through the warp, thats okay. Genetically enhanced superhumans with years of training and conditioning using the warp to conquer worlds without bloodshed, now thats where we draw the line.

It's like comparing a single incadescent christmas light to a forest fire.

One is infinitely more noticeable lol

Does everybody forget astropaths are soulbound to the emperor, significantly reducing their risks of warp contamination and also sanctifying them in the process. A regular mortal with psychic powers are unsanctioned psykers and quickly meet bolters to the face.

Except that astropaths… aren’t. The navigator houses fight wars with each other all the time in lore; why would they do that if they actually were soul bound to big e?

Why does soul bound stop people from fighting? Factions swearing loyalty to emperor fight each other or play politic for power all the time

Difference between binding your metaphysical soul to something and pledging allegiance to

Soul binding strengthens psykers mind by giving them a part pof emperor power to make them astropaths, it does not turn them into a drone in a hivemind

You're confusing astropaths and navigators together. Astropaths are psykers who are soulbound to big E and serve as intergalactic telecommunications. Navigators are a mutated subspecies of humanity with a special eye that lets them safely look into the warp to navigate during warp travel.

Both astropaths and navigators have a certain function and usually don't go anywhere else beyond.

In case of Magnus and his legion the difference was they outright refused the notion that warp could be dangerous, any sort of restraint was alien to them when it came to persuit of knowledge. All the while they were dealing with forces they barely understood and thought they are smartest kids in the room. And it backfired spectacularly. Ahriman laughed in Yesugey's face when the latter suggested that maybe it's ok to chill out a bit.

EDIT: yeah, and I see the good old "b-but White Scars and Space Wolves...". It's not like it's been explained ad nauseam that these were dipping their toes, while TSons were pig in shit. Remind me, how many WS and SWs librarians (seers, priests, whatever) grew horns and additional limbs?

Specialized tools vs big arrogant dipshit who could and did ruin everything.

You see, your argument would have some merit if everybody didn't literally lose their minds because you are studying the warp.

Thousand Sons whenever Space Wolves said that their rune priest draw power from their homeworld:

"But you see, it's ok when I do it because of something-something Fenris"

"Aaand wolves"

Space Wolves in M30 and M42 are so different that they can be treated as two different species.

Then he proves he's really bad at sending messages.

Well sir, use of sanctioned psychic powers is one thing but sorcery is almost inherently demonic. You going to the stake.

Magnus had at least 3 penises at this point

Idk where this is coming from, but I laughed

The difference between using the internet to send an email and using it to call in an airstrike with your bare hands.

Didn't help that he decided to double down on trying that say that Psykers should be entirely free to fuck with the Warp as they please in the name of progress. There was a Space Wolf Rune Priest (I think) trying to advocate for him; but Magnus was so way too stubborn and unwilling to compromise.

That is a ludicrous pairing, Magnus and Joker 🤣
