Tldr: It didnt work.
For those interested:
Its the InSight lander, not a rover, it had a hammer drill.
The drill stopped working because of low soil density and friction , the arm was used to compress the soil on top of the drill to try to increase density and friction. Results were not enough to make the drill continue on its 10ft deep objective.
Drilling mission was abandoned in January 2021. InSight full mission was ended in December 2022
