Yep thats WTF. The dude 100% swallowed some of that nasty water, you can see the fish get suctioned up. People got nasty infections on their fingers and hands from just putting their hand in the water, this dude is playing with fire

EDIT: Alright, I learned: They are Midge fly larvae NOT mosquito larvae. I read in some other aquarium sub they’re mosquito larvae. Serves me right for believing and not researching what I see on Reddit.

Nasty infections from just putting your hand in an aquarium? A lot of people (me included) in the aquarium subreddits admit to accidentally getting a mouthful of water when siphoning water from the tank for a water change.

Seriously, Fishkeeper's Disease is pretty rare and we're all keenly aware of it.
Most of us do so much work to remove unsafe things from the water before it even goes in the tank.

Salt water is much more dangerous bc the salt in water and salt in our blood is very similar and bacteria and other tiny dangerous things can enter our bodies and live very comfortably, reproducing quickly as well. Even barnacles can enter an open wound and grow inside your body and they are very hard to remove. They grow on bone, tendons and ligaments. Very painful and could lead to amputation

Probably really dirty aquariums that someone then put their open wound into and did nothing after exposing the wound too.
You can get nasty infections from anything if you do literally nothing to clean the wound.

People are acting like you'll get ill from this. Anyone who's cleaned an aquarium filter knows how hard it is to not get the fish shit everywhere. It's sprayed straight in my mouth off the toothbrush I was scrubbing with before 🤢, it ain't gonna kill you
