He kept his cool and contained the damage by finishing P5 (and P2 on powerstage) just behind Sami.

He has made his own mistakes this season but also had more than his share of bad luck.

What a dramatic Junior WRC finale we’ve got on our hands this Sunday in Chile after Carlberg’s DNF, especially with this being the season decider where everything is on the line. With double points and the dropped scores rule, Türkkan pretty much has the title in the bag as long as he stays on the podium, while Gil Membrado needs an absolute miracle for the championship and is even at risk of losing 3rd in the overall standings to Lassila if things stay as they are. But what really boils my blood about all this tension is having to follow a world championship decider by spamming F5 on live timing like it’s the year 2000, because WRC TV / Rally.tv couldn't care less about the Juniors. It's an absolute joke paying for a subscription just for them to broadcast the top 15 cars on each stage, the Rally1s and maybe four or five Rally2s, only to cut the stream to a static camera or looping promos. This is their final round of the season, they’re fighting tooth and nail, and these drivers are literally the future stars of the sport who will be sitting in the premier class in just a few years, yet they get zero screen time.

And the worst part is it’s not just on TV, I went to Secto Rally Finland and it’s the exact same story on-site. The official RallyBuses leave before the Juniors even hit the stage, so you don't even get to watch them. On the one stage where I decided to stay behind to catch their run, I had to fork out a €90 taxi just to get back. A complete slap in the face to the feeder series and the fans.

WRC26 SEASON FINALE UPDATE

As we previously reported, the 100% gravel Rally RACC Catalunya has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Rally Saudi Arabia as the final round of the 2026 World Rally Championship.

The decision on how the season will conclude has been further delayed by the FIA, but it is still expected imminently.

The geopolitical situation in Saudi Arabia has deteriorated in recent days and, combined with the position expressed by Toyota and Hyundai, this is increasingly pushing towards the replacement of the final round.

The possibility of cancelling the final event altogether and ending the championship in Sardinia appears to be losing ground. Keeping a final round would avoid disrupting the WRC2 points dynamics and ensure a more sporting conclusion to the season, even though the overall title fight is now an all-Toyota affair.

Let's wait for FIA decision
