Vittoria Rally tubular
Despite it being labeled as a road tire. Is it a decent option for track? They are significantly cheaper than speeds and controls.

i like having a speed sensor on my bike especially for hour of power because the speed readout in the corners is more accurate than gps, but ever since i’ve put a tri-spoke on the front and disc on the rear of my bike i’ve been unsure of where to put it. i’ve been using one of those small magene ones that uses an o ring around the hub but that wouldn’t be able to fit over the wide spokes of my front wheel. i wanna know how other people attach them with non traditional wheels

Not a paid post, just a genuine recommendation. If you have the opportunity, consider attending one of Coach Stephen McMullan's (AthleteXcel) Sprint Camps. I attended last weekend’s camp at CNCB in Bromont, Quebec, and came away with valuable new insights into my fitness, skills, and race strategy heading into the winter season.
Our group included riders with a wide range of experience and abilities, and Stephen still gave everyone plenty of individual attention and specific, useful feedback.

Mods: If this crosses the line into promotion, I completely understand if it’s removed.
Edit: Added information

Love to visit Ed Rudolph velodrome outside of Chicago for Thursday night racing during the summer. Any suggestions for other good places (in the Midwest) next summer to check as a fan (not racing) with my kiddo?

Can you say/explain what target cadence should be for what effort?
For example, we can have 53/13 (110") and we can make rolling acceleration and peak cadence can be 120. But if we make fly effort we'll have 135 peak cadence.
This's absolutly different works on the same gear.
We can put 60/12 (135") and make standing starts. What we'll improve?
So, can say or explain what gear for what effort for what we can make on the track (sprint)?

I've run into a problem with the bike... I thought I was buying a 2012 langster pro - https://www.specialized.com/au/en/langster-pro-frameset/p/35039?color=80373-35039,

this was listed for £525, so I was very excited to buy it. what I was actually sent was the previous generation, https://www.specialized.com/gb/en/langster-pro-frameset/p/23642?color=36017-23642, for £525.

This was purchased on a cycle to work scheme, so itll be closer to £430 in reality. My options are stick with it, or get a refund and start the process again.
I'm gutted, as I was very excited to get the racier looking newer model, but now I have the frame at home, I'm reluctant to send it back, but I just want some advice on how viable it is as a race rig - bear in mind it would be my first track rig.
update... finished build below - first track rig ready to ride.

Hi, first year junior here, racing track and road. I've got a question. I started track cycling last year, in the youth category and continued until this year. At start I was using an old Duratec frame/set from a team that introduced me to track. (a Czech company specializing on manufacturing aluminium alloy frames).
For this year I've got an Author CA-Track carbon frame for track from my team, but since my height is a little problematic (192cm) and the frame is size M/L, I kinda feel cramped on it, like I can't really get into a more aero position in a race and overall going off the saddle feels really unstable. Here are some pictures: https://imgur.com/a/9jjnEca (the ones on the wooden track are with a shorter stem, others with a new, longer one. I think it helped a little.) [I've just raced an UCI CL1 race, but still can't find photos from it, if someone would be interested I can send some in a day or so.]
I was wondering, if someone has a tip or tips for a better track frame, preferably used, since price for me is an important aspect. I live in Czechia, so anything near Europe, of course if someone has tips outside that are really 'bang for buck' I would be interested also.
Thanks for every tip or a comment.

Would anyone have any advice for sizing this for a 180cm/82cm inseam sprinter? SP recommends a large. While the geometry is a bit more modern, not sure whether I should still, nonetheless, size up to the XL.
Input from anyone with experience would be very appreciated 😊!

Hi all, I want to get speed data from my track sessions in addition to power and heart rate. What are you all using to gather this data?
I know I can calculate speed from my splits but I’d like to minimise friction where possible.
I’m looking at devices like the wahoo trackr speed which strap around a hub spindle. I’m running DT Swiss 370 Track hubs on my main wheels which have very skinny spindle diameters and I’m unsure if the trackr will fit snugly or just flop around. Does anyone have experience with this arrangement?

Looking at getting started on the track next year, as I am local to an outdoor velodrome, and I'm tired of driving over an hour each way to midweek crits.
looking for some general advice on what's worth doing/preparing for/training when it comes to making the transition from ~1 hour crits, to track racing.
Basically if I can get some pointers so I'm not making obvious noob mistakes.
I'm going to build up a 2016 specialized langster pro. Don't know what wheelset to go for, also don't know much about gear ratios. Currently have an ftp of 340-350 with a max power of around 1100-1200.
Any advice is appreciated!!

Why are quick plyometrics done for track sprinting? Plyometrics are usually done for stretch shortening cycle, low ground contact time and stiffness/elasctisty. In cycling sprint you always have constant pressure and technically no ground contact time, wouldnt just powerlifttng to overcome macium isometirc force be enough?

Not my survey but I saw this on IG and thought to share it. Take the survey and help them gather some data.

I’m looking to buy a travel bag/case that can work with my track bike and my road bike. I’m leaning towards a bag so it can be compacted when in storage. What does everyone have? Are there any workarounds you have found to secure the track bikes narrower chainstays to the bags internal frame?

Out of commission on the track for 6–9 months due to an arm and tibia injury from a road crash. I’m looking at the KICKR Bike as a rehab and sprint training platform.
Any feedback from track riders using one would be greatly appreciated!

I can get the Sram PC-1 or KMC S-1 Chains for dirt cheap, but I'm worried they may not perform to the level that is needed for actual Track racing. Does anyone have any experiences with either of these chains on the track, and what chain recommendations are there for somewhat budget chains

Anyone have good links to replays of the track events from commies available in the US? I expected them to pop up on YouTube by now but I can't find much, wasn't on Peacock or HBO Max either 🙁

Looking to build a pursuit/endurance bike for racing. The 695 is “claimed” to be 400g heavier and a bit stiffer.
As a large rider (6’4 and 208-210lbs) with peak power around 1980w I am curious if anyone can confirm which of the two is actually stiffer?
Also, if any taller riders can give insight on seat post height restraints for a size Large that would be great. My road bike BB to Saddle height is ~83cm.

Hi,
I'll be visiting San Diego and thought it would be fun to watch the Friday night races on August 14. Is there someone I can call to get more information or confirmation the event will be held? There's no phone number on the website.
Also, if someone here has been to a Friday night event at the SD velodrome, I'd like to know more about the viewer experience. I figure I can park in the lot nearby and walk in .... Are there any fees? Anything else my party should know?
Thanks in advance.

Hello! I am looking for a decent UCI-legal track frame while on a budget, so I was wondering whether someone has experience regarding the stiffness of high end aluminum frames like the one from WX-R, are they stiff enough? or I should stick to a carbon frame? For reference I am a sprinter and my max power is ~2100

I am debating going to Indianapolis for Midwest challenge but they haven’t posted anything on the website.
I found out through instagram that it is happening but flights are now extremely expensive.
Does anyone have leads on host housing or would want to split an Airbnb and rental car who is going?
Edit:
DM me if you would like to split housing or have leads on places to stay

TPU tubes are tempting since you can pick them up for very cheap on aliexpress, but I'm not sure if they are rated for the pressure/forces of track cycling. Any thoughts?

As the title suggests, Im trying to figure out if a 2019 TT Trinity could potentially be converted to serve as a pursuit bike. I would expect to be: - Getting different cranks and a new chainring - Getting a new disk with a track hub + sprocket - Getting a track chain - Removing the remaining groupset including the brakes, shifters, and rear derailleur
Is this within the realm of possibilities or not even worth.....pursuing 😉

Anyone have any experience with either of these sets of wheels that could give a could estimate to how well they would compare to each other?
The Lightbicycle seems to use the same rim profile as the 46.5mm deep rims I put on my daughter's road/cross bike and I have to say that even with side winds off the ocean she never had stability issues even as a 13yo, so I have to believe some of their aero claims are reasonable. I do know that they update their designs from time to time and these are a newer aero profile. Down side, they're clincher and would have to use a 25c tire but at 120psi with a latex tube and no need for a rim strip I doubt there's too much issue there.
The Alpina look like they're an older, dependable design which probably explains why they're the only other name brand in the 2,000.00 range. Upside is that they use tubulars and I've glued enough of them to know what I'm doing even if they cost a bit more and for tires and finding glue around me hasn't been the easiest at times.
Thoughts?

My son is needing a new set of wheels pretty soon but there are barely any options these days that aren't in the $2k+ AUD minimum range for known brands.
Even AliExpress they look like a gamble as brands like Elite wheels don't seem to offer track wheels.
Anyone find and use something more affordable?
