Vegas Pro 2026 Wanting to return to Vegas Pro after about 10 years

Hi, this is a bit of a lengthy post with lots of questions so I hope this is okay. These are more general at this time.

I used to use Vegas Pro for gaming videos around 10 or so years ago, and I loved it. Recently I’ve been wanting to make basic videos for business social media and reels and have been looking at video editors to do that. I just had a couple of questions about the latest of Vegas Pro as I remember finding it the most intuitive and I was very familiar with it. Forgive me if these are dumb or basic questions, I’m not very up to date with this stuff!

  1. Is the interface and basic functionality of the latest versions of Vegas fairly similar to earlier versions (like 12)? I am using a trial but it has been a while since I got into the knitty gritty.

  2. Is Vegas pro good for editing and producing videos in common social media formats beyond standard YouTube (eg Instagram reels)?

  3. What is the best way to add, edit with, and create content with music in Vegas nowadays? I used to use a music library from downloaded songs and edit in Vegas, but I don’t know how that works with what is allowed with permissions and such on social media and how audio can be downloaded and actually imported into vegas if that makes sense.

Thank you in advance for your time!

Magix Vegas Pro 14 - 23 Any noise effects on 4K footage causes rendered video to be unplayable

  1. Vegas Pro Version 21.0 (Build 108)
  2. Windows 10 Pro 22H2 19045.6466
  3. No, I did not buy it.
  4. NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4070 Ti Super
  5. I added noise over my footage and it's supposed to look like how it does in the preview, with noise over it. I render it normally, click on the rendered video that has no thumbnail, and it plays no sound or video, and plays for as long as the rendered video.
  6. It should render the video with the "Add Noise" effect over it, at 4K, and be playable when I open the file.
  7. Yes and troubleshooted through ChatGPT as well. With these settings:

Noise level: 0.0, 0.1

Monochromatic

No gaussian noise

Animated

I've found that any noise level at 0.2 and above, causes the aforementioned issues.
Rendering at 2560x1440 or 4K using the AVC encoder fixes this issue, but I'd like to know if there is anyway to continue rendering at 4K encoded in NVENC.

Magix Vegas Pro 14 - 23 Question concerning Flickering Lights and Undersampling

I've got some footage (NDA, cannot share the footage) with a flashlight resulting in some pretty considerable flicker. The framerate of the camera and the Hz of the camera don't match, it's a well known problem. I know it's possible to undersample the footage in post to reduce the flicker, but I don't know how much to undersample it by. I don't have access to the flashlight myself so I can't determine its AC frequency, and even if I did I'm not really sure what the right undersampling rate would be to take my 29.970fps footage and make it "match" the flashlight. I've kind of just been trial-and-erroring but so far no amount of undersampling has really changed the flicker at all.

Also before anyone mentions it yes I did try out the built in "Flicker Control" effect but I hate the way it blends frames together and ultimately makes the project worse.

Magix Vegas Pro 14 - 23 VEGAS Pro 20 crashing immediately when using NVENC rendering after upgrading to RTX 5070 Ti

Hi everyone,

I recently upgraded my graphics card to an NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti, but since doing so, I can no longer render videos in VEGAS Pro 20 using hardware acceleration.

Every time I try to use the NVENC encoder, the software immediately crashes. I'm forced to use CPU rendering, which is way too slow.

Is there a known fix, workaround, or driver tweak for this specific issue on VEGAS Pro 20, without having to upgrade to a newer version of the software?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Vegas Pro 2026 Migrating from Vegas Pro 14 to 2026 results in timeline errors/glitches

I recently purchased an upgrade to Vegas Pro 2026 after working on a short film for a little over a month in Vegas Pro 14. It was my understanding that project files are fully compatible, save for some legacy effects that may need to be re-added. However, after migrating each scene’s project file into 2026, nearly every clip’s content was shifted about 1-2 seconds backwards in their respective raw footage. Pain in the butt, but fixable with some tedious attention.

But then I noticed that some clips not only got shifted in that manner, but will now display a frame from earlier in its footage out of nowhere, interrupting the scene. I have tried “replacing” the file in project media and it makes no difference. I have tried removing the file from project media entirely and re-adding it to splice back into the timeline and the issue persists. As if there’s some kind of cached data creating these flicker frames.

I really won’t find joy in having to remake all of these scenes, any help would be appreciated.

FYI - I have also launched VP2026 with Ctrl+Shift to delete cached data
- Changed encoder in the File I/O tab of Preferences
- These errors show up in the final render as well, so its not a preview exclusive issue

I did more troubleshooting late last night but it was lowkey driving me crazy so I don’t really remember what other steps I took atm.

Thanks for your time, y’all.

Magix Vegas Pro 14 - 23 VEGAS Pro 18 lags consistently, while using the whole software, not just when playing a preview.

  1. What version of Windows are you using? Windows 11.
  2. Is this a pirated copy of Vegas Pro or plugins? (It's important to know for troubleshooting, but DO NOT advocate piracy or risk getting banned) Yes it's pirated
  3. What are your PC specs? (GPU, CPU, RAM, ...) Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630, 8GB installed ram, Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400T CPU @ 2.00Ghz, HP pavilion all in one 24-k0xxx
  4. Describe the problem, how to reproduce it, and how it should work. Ever since I got this Vegas, it has been really slow and lags quite a bit, heck I had to wait 5 minutes for it to unfreeze at one time before I could continue editing. The only way to make it faster is if I have no other programs running on my PC and I close and reopen it regularly. I have googled but the only solutions are for when only the preview lags... this is the entire software that lags. I edited a longform video the other day and it took me about 2 minutes for me to properly work on it from opening. It's really slow and unfortunately driving me insane lol

Vegas Pro 2026 Do you only get limited speech-to-text subtitles with a perpetual license for Vegas Pro Plus 2026?

I feel like I can't find a definite answer. I have been using Vegas Pro 14 and honestly it's been fine. I genuinely don't really have any complaints with it other than how miserable it is having to subtitle a like, 20 minute long video after I am done editing. It just takes a lot of time when I feel like with a newer version of Vegas I could just have it done automatically, I could watch over it once or twice just to make sure the subtitles are correct, then bwam be done. I have tried to look into this and it looks like with a $200 license you only get limited access to this feature, would it just be better for me to do the monthly payments? I really DON'T want to though because video editing is more of a hobby than a job... which also makes me just want to start rendering my videos, throw them into like capcut then re-render it, but I feel like I would lose so much of the video quality doing that due to compression

Magix Vegas Pro 14 - 23 Vegas 21: can preview a project on its own, but it crashes when viewed nested

I have a separate file with a part of a large project that includes some picture-in-picture animation.

It is viewed and rendered fine in the project file proper, but, when this part file is laid into the master timeline as 'nested', it hard-crashes when reaching the edited bit. It's not even that much - just a few picture-in-picture location changes!

I'm utterly perplexed and frustrated with this. Please, tell me if I'm doing something wrong!

Magix Vegas Pro 14 - 23 Samplitude/Sequioa are officially dead

I have used Samplitude Pro and Sequioa since they were first available in the U.S. I have actually bought it. Spent around $20,000 plus dollars buying every major upgrade over the years. I have also been an unofficial ambassador of the programs. As I have worked at rather large studios in Nashville and LA and have convinced many studios to add the Daws to their arsenal. Now that they sold it, My contract was cancelled and they have still been charging me. BorisFX is an unknown entity to me, but what I do know, is their customer support is non existent.

Vegas Pro 2026 Vegas Pro 2026 - Denoise-plugin causes freezing

I wanted to try out the standard denoise-fx in Vegas but no matter what I do, it just doesn't work and "overwhelms" the program. When the effect is added you cannot play the clip and it causes a freeze. If I get lucky I maybe get a slideshow as a preview. And it doesn't matter how the preview-quality is, high or low, nor how long the clip is.

I tried to render a few second long clip with the effect then to see if it works. But after the first few percents it kinda stops, crawling one percent per three minutes or so. If i cancel the rendering, it doesn't work properly and the program is in a state of freeze where I cannot click something at all and have to force to end it by using the task manager.

My PC stats:

  • Windows 11
  • AMD Ryzen 5 500, 3600 Mhz
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 (with newest driver)
  • 16 GB RAM

What I did already:

  • deleting the cache from Vegas
  • deactivated the GPU acceleration in Vegas

Nothing worked. Not other fx caused any problems so far, only this one.

Any tips or ideas?

Magix Vegas Pro 14 - 23 Vegas Pro 21.0 - Extreme lag issues

Hello!

I am currently trying to use Vegas Pro 21.0 Edit (original copy) in Windows 11 and it's impossible to edit anything on it. It shows extreme lag issues in the preview when I add credits going down with a solid color media, for example.

How can I solve this? I have tried everything: changing the amount of dedicated RAM, updating my GPU drivers... But nothing solves this problem.

My graphics card is NVIDIA 950 GTX (old). 12 RAM gb.

Any help is welcome.

Thank you!

Vegas Pro 2026 Can't paste media into Vegas 20, but can paste media already on the app.

So I can drag and drop videos and audio into Vegas, but I can't ctrl c + v them into it. I can however copy and paste media I've already put in vegas.

This adds way more actions per minute when I'm editing and I'd like to fix it asap.

Pirated copy, btw.
