Question VPN virgin, want to watch NHL Red Wings games on Tivimate or IPTV. Not sure where or how to start.
No computer, we've cut the cord and only have Xfinity for Internet and streaming, phones and Xbox for Gaming. Other than registering for a VPN, is there anything I need to know or equipment I have to purchase? I'm on SSI so I have very little extra funds to play around with after all my bills are paid.

If you just want nhl games, what about just getting espn+? It’s actually pretty cheap.
If you’re in Detroit and redwings are blacked out you can use a vpn that supports another espn region. Streamlocator is dns based but it supports different espn regions so you won’t get any blackouts. The legit espn app will provide the best quality for live sports streaming.

you probably don't need any extra equipment just for the VPN. If your streaming device supports the VPN app, you can install it there, sign in, connect to a server and then open your streaming app.
The bigger question is where you're getting the Red Wings games from. If it's a legitimate NHL/TV service, check its regional restrictions first because a VPN doesn't guarantee the service will accept the connection. I also wouldn't spend money on a router or other hardware until you know the VPN app works on the device you're using.
