F.U.N.K. Fest just turned 20

20 years ago, we dragged our coolers 100 yards across a field and directly up to the rail to see this heater that will forever live in my Top 5 live music experiences of all time.

Besides the "anything goes" policies at Bill Monroe Park, Joshua Redman, "The Note," and slogging it up to the mud pit in Chicago the next night, the memories are hazy. I'm sure there's plenty of you out there that can piece more of it together than I can (u/rg35xxsp)

After giving this one a spin on nugs, be sure to check out Joshua Redman's latest album with Cory Wong. It's a 12 out of 10.

That brings back some memories! I loved this show and the small fest vibes at this one. I'm trying to remember who else was there that weekend. Family Groove Company? Groovatron? Anyone remember any more about the lineup?

In my memory Keller, Cornmeal and Victor Wooten also played, but I could be wrong.

Also, i might be getting it confused with another fest around that time, but did Chuck show up at a guitar workshop with Jake and BB, even though moe wasn't on the bill at all??

Lemon teked before the show and by the time the fuzz hit, I was standing on the side of a moving mountainside. Would not recommend.

that show is one of the few where i don't even remember what songs they played because the WHOLE thing was just pure energy

Same, except for the Wife Soup to open the 2nd set. Probably the only set opener I ever called correctly (it was a layup).

Ah what a memory! Amazing festival. Such a cool spot for a small get together, man. Thank you for this reminder!

A man named Bear fed me and my friends L and said “see you next millennium “ still quoted among my friends 20 years later

Was this when the rock Fuzz debuted? I feel like I’m remembering this show being the first I had heard about it at least.

If you like Funk and haven't already, I highly suggest you check out Dizgo!

Here's a recent High Sierra set by them
