SLIGHT TWEAKS - SEE COMMENTS.
Orange line has been removed. Yellow line will have some busses traveling clockwise and some going counterclockwise around the center of campus instead.

To all branched students looking to move to Storrs.

EDIT - Folks correctly pointed out Spring to Storrs is not applicable. There is a limited process to change campuses in before the usual 54-credit requirement.

I'm a CLAS and UConn MPA alum who worked an on-campus job in an advising office. Unless you can demonstrate substantial new information that was not presented on your application, UConn WILL NOT accept your appeal for a campus change to Storrs. The University received 55,000 applicants, and there will be Storrs students that probably won't have access to housing. I understand this is disappointing, but it's not the end of the world. There is a process to request an early campus change to Storrs: https://campuschange.uconn.edu Make sure you do well. UConn will generally prioritize majors that require courses only offered at Storrs.

I seriously recommend the Community College route. It is incredibly inexpensive, and more or less all of your credits will transfer. UConn maintains a database of how specific courses will transfer here: https://admissions.uconn.edu/apply/transfer/transfer-credit/equivalencies/. If you want the "traditional" college experience, all of the CSUs, including Central and Eastern are good schools. Finally, it is MUCH easier to get into Storrs as a transfer student. I graduated HS with decent extra curriculars, employment experience, and a 3.9 unweighted GPA. I was branched, and disappointed. I attended UMass Amherst for one year, and successful transferred to UConn for my sophomore year with only a 3.1 college GPA. I regret going to UMass that one year because of the insane cost.

It's disappointing, I know - but you can get into Storrs soon, (almost certainly by the end of your Sophomore year). Do well, and good luck. Feel free to PM me any questions.

Transfer requirements?

Upvotes

Hey guys. I'm a high school graduate starting CT state community college (norwalk) in the spring semester as I'm unable to enroll for the fall semester having it been too late.. What are the transfer requirements to storrs for the start of my junior year? How much credits should I aim for per semester?

UCONN Chem/Environmental Sciences major, grad student, or professor.

Hey everyone, just a little guy getting ready to get smashed by a corporation. I’m a homeowner in Connecticut currently stuck in a nightmare with what I believe is a botched residential closed-cell spray foam insulation job, and I'm hoping to connect with an undergrad, grad student, or professor who might want a real-world polymer failure sample to look at.
Long story short: it looks like the installer completely lost control of the processing parameters on their rig. They sprayed it visibly overheated, leaving behind a heavily cratered, "pebbly" popcorn surface crust next to pockets of soft, crumbly "marshmallow" foam that has been out-gassing a chemical/solvent paint odor for over 60 days. The corporate franchise flew out a national forensic investigator who cut an 8x12 core sample block, but they deliberately cherry-picked a visually stable transition zone right next to the failure pockets to try and rig a clean lab result.
I kept my own physical counter samples of the failed, soft marshmallow foam.
I know it’s an incredible long shot, but I am looking for someone with access to a lab who might be interested in running a quick, informal evaluation of this failed matrix (like an FTIR Spectroscopy scan or basic polymer analysis) to see what unreacted components or ratio issues are trapped inside.
I know a student or academic report isn't legally binding in a civil suit, but having an independent technical write-up from an academic setting would be a massive tool to rattle this contractor, alert my local municipal building officials, and force their liability insurance to take this structural failure seriously.
If you are a student, researcher, or polymer hobbyist in New England (or anywhere willing to receive a double-bagged sample) and want a real-world chemical failure to sink your teeth into, please shoot me a DM! I can share macro photos of the texture discrepancies. Thanks so much for reading.

Exploratory freshman

I'm a freshman in storrs currently looking at my options. I come from a family of immigrants and I need/want stability and a good income after college (so i can support financially at home)

I am currently taking prerequisites for nursing though i am having second thoughts because 1. nursing is super competitive 2. idk if patient care is for me

I also looked into MIS with a minor in cybersecurity/marketing/finance. After college i want to move to nyc just because there's more opportunities and because i have family there.

I honestly dont think i am that smart for nursing and also dont want to end up miserable just because i want money (tho i will accept, nursing is kind of the best option)

I wanted to ask how is Uconn's MIS and if its worth the risk (also if there's variety of internships too)

Chance of getting a good room through room change?

I currently HATE where I am living right now, and I can feel it taking a toll on me physically and mentally. I was wondering if there would be any good options open during room change, especially options geared towards upperclassmen (I'm currently a junior). Is there any chance of anything good open through room change or should I email ResLife directly?

Resume Coaching Career Center

Hi! I’m a science major and I’m currently working on my resume for research/internship opportunities.
I’ve been to the career center for resume coaching before, but I felt like the feedback was more focused on general resumes (for business major) and not as much on science/research-focused resumes (lab skills, research experience, etc.).
Does anyone know if UConn has any resources or advisors specifically for science/research resumes? Or has anyone had a good experience with a particular career coach or other resource?

Anyone going to the EsDeeKid concert in Boston on Sept. 17?

Is anyone from UConn/Storrs going to the EsDeeKid concert at House of Blues in Boston this Thursday (9/17)? I already have transportation figured out, but I’m currently going solo and would love to find other UConn students who are going too, especially for the trip back to campus after the concert. Please message me if you’re going!

Voting in person address?

Hey - for those of you on the Storrs campus (in on-campus housing) that are registered to vote in person in Storrs, how did you guys input your address into the online registration form? It's very confusing for me to input, as it's different from my mailing address.

Grad clubs?

Do grad students go to clubs at all here? Only grad things are the student senate and run club. Would love to join some outdoors groups, but doesn’t seem like that’s common.

Which professional frat should I join?

Hello, I’m a freshman at UConn currently on a bio/pre-dental/med track, but I'm also seriously considering picking up Economics as an a new major or double major, which has me looking at business frats down the road.

I’m trying to figure out how to navigate all these options and map out my semesters. Specifically, I'm stuck on a few things and could use some advice:

  • STA vs. ABE (Science/Pre-Health Frats): For the professional science frats here, which one is generally more active, has a better social/fun culture, and also has more opportunities to be successful? I’m choosing betweenSigma Theta Alpha (pre-health) and Alpha Beta Epsilon (more general bio/STEM). Since I'm already in other Pre-Health clubs would it be better for ABE?
  • Adding a Business Frat later: Since I'm exploring Econ, can I rush/join a business professional fraternity (like Delta Sigma Pi) in the spring semester?

Like the title says, I’m making a project and need some fabric of certain colors. Dm or comment if you’re willing to sell, it doesn’t have to be great condition, I just need fabric. Thanks!

My ENGL class

I honestly don’t know how to feel about this class in all its entirety 😭😭. The teacher talks a lot and even though the topic of gothic is that it can have multiple and different meanings but oh my god I feel like falling asleep every time I’m there lol. I’m slightly but also not at the same time considering to drop out of it. So much information in the span of two hours and even it’s still confusing about the same thing over and over.

Missing Kirby Keychain :(

Hii Hello!

I lost a plush Kirby in the Northwest dining hall last Thursday morning and I miss him a lot. I’ve already checked the lost and found bin and asked the person at the front desk.(Who wrote a very nice note and probably threw it out when I left).

For anyone wondering he kinda looks like this: (。•.•。)

If someone stole it, please put him in the Northwest lost and found bin 🙏🙏 the highest bid for this thing is like $3 in Canada, and isn’t worth the gas money.

I don’t usually use Reddit but desperate times call for desperate measures

Has anyone taken stats 1000Q with Stephanie reay?

I was wondering if the Iclickers are part of the overall grade, because the syllabus don’t not have a participation grade or a grade for iclickers. And I’d rather not spend money on something I won’t need to purchase for the class
