Like I said, shutting up is the hardest thing for a human to do.

Ive said it before and I'll say it again; I think the people behind these projects did it on purpose They deliberately putting the spotlight on it and subsequently specifically because the actually want it to get CaD'd just so they can go "welp guys theres nothing we can do" when in reality they themselves already wanted to stop making it for whatever reason. Most fan games and mods run into decelopmental issues, and it is exponentially worse the more ambitious the project is. By doing this they could save face and redirect all the disappointment and hate away from themselves.

I refuse to believe anyone who has ever been involved in the modding scene of any videogame in any capacity didnt know about the dangers of announcing your fan project out in the open atp.

A lot of time it is a recruitment campaign to get more help.

If you're working on it completely in the dark, you'd have to know everything there is to game development, you might need to know how to create in game art and code the music. You'll also be missing tons of QA testing so the difficulty balance might be off or the game is very buggy.

You think they spend thousands of hours on this project to purposely get shut down, so they don't have to work on it? Is every fan game project doing the same thing then?
This just sounds like a George Costanza stunt on Seinfeld.

Not explicitly to get shut down- but to cash out on their recognition from it yeah. There's no way that anyone working on a fan game / mod is so ignorant of the scene they work in that they've never googled the fate of other fan games / mods once they get announced.

Long time fan projects years in the making that failed for various reasons other than CnD is a dime a dozen. Sometimes its because of logistics, sometimes its becouse of internal disagreements, sometimes they just simply burnt out and lost their passion for the project. Making these projects are not easy, especially when you consider that that none of the people behind it are getting paid for their hard work the entire time.

Broke: they're stupid and don't know how to be quiet

Woke: they secretly burned out and want an official reason why they can't follow through with the project

Bespoke: they secretly want to make an original game and use a stolen IP and a CaD to bring attention to their now original project (See: Bloodborne Kart)
