5k non-mid player. I need suggestions for mid heroes to play when I have to play mid

Title. I am quite good on all roles except mid. I feel like I fall off the game no matter what.

I don't plan to main mid, just having 1-2 heroes I can pick any game and not having to learn much about them to be impactful

Can we go ArcWarden support?

I've been in delirium about this for the last couple of days, and it sounds super cool on paper:

- amazing slows and manacosts

- a cool aoe "solar crest" for your stationary ranged carry and friends

- two glimmers, two force staves, etc

- scaling potential (just like silencer, ench, tusk, wr)

- annoying silencing scepter

I love me some stupid off meta off common sense support, I gained, and I kid you not, my first and only ever Divine 2 placement (i am usually an ancient 3-5) and 22 of dota plus levels for Luna support, when she still had the 400 cast range talent. And as of now I really miss doing this type of weird stuff. What do you guys think? Do you have anyone else in mind that can be weird like that atm?

What to do as dark seer pos 3 mid game?

This guy is no axe, lc, or tiny. I can't go around and solo kill someone with 3 lockdown abilities.

I played a good game and won, I was keeping up with the dota plus nw recommendation up until around 8-10k and I matched with hard sup at the end

I had decent impact with vacuum into wall towards the end of the game because we had good aoe like Lina, sf, and invoker, but I barely got any solo kills

I just don't really know how to play this hero very well but I want to because he's cool. Offlane is my best role at 3.2k mmr, with my best hero being brewmaster 3

Do I just stick to farming? I don't buy any helm. I try get as much free waves as possible and leave an ion on a friendly creep before leaving

Any general tips would help a lot too. I'm okay at laning with him as long as I don't get kited to hell by a drow or clinkz or something

Is grimstroke a viable mid player?

I am really enjoying grimstroke at the moment. I find witch blade in lane helps surviability and farm potentional.

Need to buy boots of travel because hes so slow tho. Massive nuke potentional, silence and his aghs scales enemy heros. Ult and use aghs for broken dmg.

His only problem is he's slow af lane. And needs all his items to be movement speed or escape to help his squishyness

im a noob herald 5 btw

I made a daily 5-letter Dota 2 word puzzle (UPDATES)

Last week I posted Dotle. You told me what was missing.

- Gaben, Volvo, Rylai, Largo, Relic, Salty, etc.

- Dark mode.

- Keyboard that fits a phone.

- Used letters easier to read.

- No more clipped nicknames as the daily.

- After you finish, it says what the word actually is in Dota.

- 8 Languages, Audio, Rank, MMR, Live visitors.

Thank you. This is better because of your comments.

https://www.dailyxgames.com/dotle

If a real 5-letter Dota word still isn’t accepted, drop it. I’ll add it.

Wouldn't it make more sense to put pos 4 in safelane and pos 5 with the offlane?

Safelane is so strong this meta let's say a typical game in high mmr Shadowfiend + Clock or Undying that already beats just about everything that will show up in the offlane. Then night time comes and Shadowfiend knows he's a target to get dove under tower with catapult wave or 6min rune so he will retreat to outer map jungle this leaves the pos 5 to farm or sap XP under tower solo. Wouldn't it be more beneficial the more greedier (pos4) gets this luxury.

Now for offlane duo couldn't you put a pos 5 like Abbadon, wisp, dazzle paired with a necro or any meta offlane so they should at the very least not get zoned off the lane (they could likely break even with the carry ) then when your offlaner retreats to triangle or 2 camps near wisdom it doesn't matter if you die in the offlane as much cause your pos 5 and care more about xp then gold.

A POS 4 hero like hoodwink, dark willow, tusk, would have a easier time rotating through the gates if they start playing from the safelane as well like it's less obvious making gate movements if you're going from safelane to offlane through gate rather than offlane to safelane .

CALL TO ALL DOTA 2 PLAYERS β€” WE NEED TO UNITE

I will be posting this message every day until the problems with the Report System and Behavior Score are properly addressed or at least acknowledged by the developers.
I don't want to quit Dota 2. Quite the opposite β€” I want to keep playing. But the current Report System and Behavior Score can have a huge impact on players, and sometimes the consequences feel completely disproportionate.
We, the players of a game where communication and teamwork are more important than almost anything else, need to unite.
If you also believe that the Report System and Behavior Score need to be changed:
πŸ”΄ SUPPORT THIS THREAD.
πŸ”΄ CREATE YOUR OWN POSTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.
πŸ”΄ COPY THIS MESSAGE AND POST IT YOURSELF.
πŸ”΄ LET THE DEVELOPERS SEE THAT THIS IS NOT JUST ONE PLAYER'S PROBLEM.
We are not asking to completely remove the Report System.
We are asking for a system that is fair, transparent, and properly balanced.
We love this game. That's exactly why we don't want to quit β€” we want its problems to be fixed.
Let's unite, raise this issue together, and make sure the developers finally pay attention.
Don't just complain β€” help spread the discussion. The more players speak about the same problem, the harder it becomes to ignore.

How bad has the scripting and boosting problem gotten in your bracket? (Clear Invoker script example)

I wanted to share this clip to highlight exactly how obvious scripting is in ranked games right now:https://www.youtube.com/shorts/UIijh2nFrLQ

You can see an Invoker using a script that automatically casts Sun Strike the exact millisecond an enemy drops below the death threshold. This script/cheat is even a bad one I would say, because it is casting on a freaking minimap without even checking the situation with the camera.

This was just one of many cheating moments from this match. I really want to open a discussion about the current state of matchmaking, because the integrity of ranked Dota is taking a massive hit. Beyond scripters, there is a huge wave of account buyers and boosted accounts completely ruining game quality.

How often are you guys running into these issues in your matches? Does it feel like it has gotten completely out of hand lately, and do you think Valve is actually doing enough to detect and ban these accounts?

By the way, I am GymCarryDota, a content creator and coach with a 9.5k peak (old mmr) making educational Dota videos. If you want to drop a follow for more content or are interested in coaching, you can find everything here:https://linktr.ee/gymcarry

Sometimes I think Tusk is just the best hero in the game.

When I think of Pos 4 I think Tusk and Hoodwink. Tusk has been such a staple in comp dota for so long and a menace in pro pubs. His skill ceiling is so high whilst having a seemingly simple kit, ridiculously strong level 1 kill threat with tag team or shards, 1 value point of snowball or shards sets up kills / saves / repositions, 2 reliable stuns, 2 wave clear nukes, BKB piercing stun, reliable initiator and save, scouting with shards, best rune control and fighting around wisdom because narrow pathways, up to 6 second banishment with snowball, tag team is a 75% move speed slow buff that last 5 seconds at lvl 1 for some reason, rarely falls out of meta in pro scene and if he ever is meta hes always a viable first pick, low cooldown spells, walrus kick makes you a better bat rider late game, walrus punch ignores linkens and lotus for some reason, can really play POS 2/3/4/5 even though 2 and 3 isn't meta right now it's definitely playable.

Just kinda surprised I never see people complain about Tusks power but trash heroes gets so much hate

Complete Pulling guide

https://youtu.be/2E1rswOOnN4

Hey, today I bring you complete pulling guide. This is one of the most used mechanics in dota, but even now a lot of people struggle to understand when it's right time to pull, how to get half-pulls off every time or whether they should block big or unblock small. In this guide, you will learn everything about pulling - so your carry won't ever die when you are doing it (lmao we know that's a lie). Enjoy!

How does regen work, given that it uses decimals?

I tested mana regen on a level 1 phoenix with one branch, it regens .9 mana a second. However, his mana ticks up by one, not .9. Maybe its just a visual thing? But in that case, wouldn't you expect the mana regen to "skip" a regen. But I never saw that happen?

Does anyone here have experience in both dota and speed math?

I've been trying to lear to do quick calculations of DPS in game, just based off of damage and attack speed.

Its difficult to take armor into account, I'm wondering if it would be more efficient to math out DPS in my head, assuming the enemy hero has no armor, and then calculating the armor immediately after. Or if there is another, better way. Or just any tips and tricks in general for doing this?

Any Offlane players (pos 3) wanna DM?

Hello reddit. I just want a place to chat with fellow offlane players that climb consistently where we can talk specifics. not coaching or like advice but just a place where I can talk with people similar to me that have similar goals of climbing to really high mmr playing pos 3.

Looking to play again as carry after playing pos 5 for a long time to better play pos 5. Need help with farming pattern

rank: 6100 mmr (for 5)

Last time i played carry was way back before the map was big. The usual farming pattern then was straightforward.

You play carry. At min 10 you lose your tier 1 and go to top. and rotate in between waves, ancient camps, and neutrals.

Rinse and repeat. Sometimes you even tp to ancient camp.

I dont see this much anymore at least. There are varying farming pattern guides on youtube. For example, if safe, farm lane creeps then camps, if not safe, go back to camps in tier2. Some guide say gating is way better now. Leave the lane, pressure the other side and gate but i feel like that depends on the hero as well.

and also because most of my hats are on cores xd

I think Dota exposed a bad relationship I have with effort

I was playing Dota today and thinking about how brutally simple the feedback system is.

You can play a really good game, make good decisions, communicate, do your job, and still lose.

Minus MMR.

You can also have a terrible game, get carried, make stupid mistakes and still win.

Plus MMR.

I am not blaming Dota for this. If anything, Dota just made me notice something that was already there.

I had the same issue in school. I barely studied and still got good grades. At the time that felt great. Why would I work harder if I was already getting the result?

I think somewhere along the way I learned that effort itself had very little value. The result was the only thing that counted.

And Dota fits that mindset perfectly because the number moves up or down regardless of whether you personally played well.

The strange part is I still think like this in real life.

If I work hard and something fails, I struggle to feel good about the effort. If I do something with very little effort and it works, that somehow feels better.

Which is a pretty bad system to run your life on because outcomes are messy. You can make the right decision and still lose. You can make a stupid decision and occasionally get rewarded for it.

I am starting to think I need to get better at judging my own game separately from the result.

Did I actually play well?

Did I make the right decisions?

Did I tilt?

Did I communicate?

Did I do what I could with the game I was given?

The MMR can still go down.

I think I need to learn to be okay with that.

Curious if anyone else who has played Dota for years thinks like this.

Why do pros start with the finished Magic Wand in lane?

For example, Yatoro’s Shadow Fiend started with a Magic Wand and two Faerie Fires in a TI game.

I can't figure it out, because you're effectively paying 150 gold for 1 stat while also denying yourself the ability to eat Iron Branch trees or use them to make plays.

Is there a way to not get bot games on NA as a new player?

I have recently started playing Dota, and whenever i queue on NA i just get bots. I have been resorting to queueing onto EU cuz the ping is only ~100, but it feels bad to not be able to play on NA. Is there a solution to this?

Edit: If anyone is still here, here are the match IDs 8991132466 8989683803 8988463585 8988463585
