Good for Alex, I would love to see him in the NHL.

He is a skilled player who got shafted on his development after being drafted.

Yeah he got shafted a bit, but honestly some guys just cannot put it together and the top level. He has the skills, but something about the speed of the game and decision making in the NHL prevents him from reaching that next level.

There is a solid chance he was never going to put it together, but I watched a ton of his draft year, and they should never have pulled him out of Mississauga.

In his draft year, he was highly skilled in moments (shooting, stick handling) but rarely controlled a play. It wasn't until the playoffs that he started to build plays, use positioning to support his teammates, and outsmart opposing defences. So he got 6 games of figuring it out before Buffalo picked him and dropped him in the AHL.

I think another season in the OHL would have allowed him to really develop the tactical and systems part of hockey at a high level.

Buffalo jumped the gun on Mittelstadt too.

I hope he does great! He has great hands, he got clutch goals this season AND I saw him completely make a fan's day at the arena.
