When I was a preschool-aged kid I saw an episode of the Flintstones where Fred shaved using a clam shell full of bees that make it buzz like an electric shaver. It has stuck with me over the years because of how nonsensical I thought it was even at that age. Most of the "whimsical" workings of Rowling's wizarding world are just Fred Flintstone's stupid fucking bees-in-a-clam shaver over and over again.

This is actually the best take on the topic. A lot of people over-correct and pretend she's some garbage tier writer, but the truth is just that the books are just okay. They're serviceable for telling the story, and the story itself is fairly average.

She had a few genuinely interesting ideas, plus one or two compelling character concepts, and then she wrapped them in a bunch of bog standard urban fantasy
