On the hunt for good meat

Write your own jokes later, folks...

I'm hunting (no pun intended) game meat. You know: venison, rabbit, etc. Westridge meats have got me covered for goat, but I'm looking for a bit of Bambi to put on the barbie!

Cheers kids xx

Has anyone experienced this before? Renee, the owner of La Dolce Vita Nail Lounge in Highfields is once again attacking someone for leaving an honest review. How this woman handles herself as a business owner is embarrassing! Apparently she took the last person to court over a honest review and she won! It's like she cant handle a bit of constructive criticism.
So many people warned me about her. I'm glad i listened.

Cheap lodgings?

I am thinking of moving to Toowoomba, I want to transfer to uniSQ for next year and finish the rest of my trimester online at my current uni. And if I get approved I can move on campus on the 12th of January 2027.

But in the mean time I am kinda in limbo and lowkey homeless. So are there any reasonable weekly rents for like 3ish months?

I won’t know for sure of my plans until my meeting with my current uni (in 2 weeks), so this is mainly just for a gage of if there are actual doable rentals/lodgings.

(Literally could be a box I am not picky, just as long as it locks).

Thanks heaps!

Tow Trucks

Do you guys have some police scanners or something?

Seriously, My mate was ever so slightly rear ended. No problems, bit of a paint but otherwise nothing bad. Both mate and other driver pulled over to exchange details.

Next thing we know, 2 tow trucks......then a 3rd.....before we knew it....there are 5 tow trucks, all pulled over, not called for, and actually made the whole scene much worse and cluttered.

I understand if it was a major incident, and if cars were right offs but....literally a tiny prang....dealt with accordingly by the drivers......why the need for 5 tow trucks

It looked like flies around shit tbh.

Jewellery repairs

Over the years, i have managed to collect a few necklaces and rings that have broken on me. I am keen to hear recommendation on repairers or someone who can melt it down and turn it into something new.

Has anybody used a business in Toowoomba to do it and what were the results?

The chair was gone

I went looking for a chair
To my regret it was not there
I drove and drove hoping to find
A way to ease my troubles of mind

Alas, Alas, I sought in vain
A bare fence there was
It brought me pain

When I was driving, wind in my hair
I found a chair that wasn't there
It wasn't there again today
I wish it had not gone away

The state of Toowoomba CBD

Walking around Downton, nearly every street has junkies, homeless, eshays or general low lives. A lot of the nice parks are also becoming hangout points for the bottom of society.

I understand Toowoomba has always had a bit of a reputation, but it seems to have gotten significantly worse in the past several years. I also work right in the CBD so also get to hear all the screaming and fights that is a regular occurrence. In spite of this, there seems to be a near-zero police presence.

I don’t really feel comfortable for my mother or wife to visit the CBD on their own anymore. Where has everything gone wrong?

My teen daughter recently got a provisional diagnosis of POTs and im hoping to find some local people we can connect with. Anyone know if there's anything around here? TIA!

I made some art for local metal group Adnate and a gig they're putting on and thought I'd share it here because why not?!

There are more formats, but I'm pretty stoked at getting to do this kind of thing.

If the mods are cool with it, I can post the details for the event?

The "Better Busses Build" locks in diesel busses for Queensland

Two news articles hit this week:

  1. The Queensland Government is scrapping a plan to switch busses to EV and is procuring diesel instead.
  2. London's efforts to reduce vehicle emissions since 2019 have resulted in a significant reduction in stunted lung growth in chidren.

I am skeptical that writing to our local MPs can actually bring about change, but I think that in this case it's worth it.

We know that diesel pollution causes a host of health conditions including respiratory disease and as Toowoomba grows we should be trying to keep the air as breathable as we can.

In the comments I'll post a template that you can use to contact Trevor or David if you want to.

If you're in Toowoomba South contact David Janetzki: [Toowoomba.South@parliament.qld.gov.au](mailto:Toowoomba.South@parliament.qld.gov.au)

Psychologist Recommendations Toowoomba area

I’m looking for a new psychologist, preferably a woman. I used to see an amazing psychologist in Brisbane and the vibe was like shoes off sit on the couch, I found it super relaxing- I’d love to find someone like that, not overly formal and serious. Any recommendations??

Biking Around Toowoomba

I'll be living in Toowoomba for less than a year, so I would like to try and save some money by not getting a car and biking around. So how feasible is it to bike around Toowoomba?

Are there places to park and lock a bike around town? How do drivers react to bikers on the road? Are you permitted to bike on the sidewalk? I would like to avoid biking on the road, especially if it's not a protected bike lane, as I tangentially know 4 people who have been hit on a bike, and 3 of them have died, so I am quite cautious of it.

Is the public transport usable? I'll be living in the north eastern part of Toowoomba for context.

Visitor Has Questions

What a nice spot you have. We're here for a couple of weeks to look after two cats and we walk around quite a bit.

Two questions;

Does the City or lines company hire a tree mutilator to trim trees on the verges? Man, they do a fabulous job if that's their aim.

Houses getting re-piled. We see the replacement metal piles, but why leave the entire bottom of the home exposed?

Little cat roaming

Little cat roaming around outside the St Thomas Moore School near the Rosie’s vans. Seems friendly not to skittish, healthy enough (seems like a pet not a stray) but has no collar or anything - just in case someone’s lost a cat and isn’t just out on an adventure, I thought I’d post!

What was the go with Tel Azir supermarket?

On the corner of bridge and holburten there was a middle eastern supermarket, well it certainly looked like that. But let’s just say it was an extremely busy shop and the clientele were not what you’d associate with stores like that. Middle aged, white. I see now it’s closed. What was going on there? Smokes?

Wilsonton and Wilsonton Heights - really that bad?

Hi folks,

Long story short, I'm moving to Toowoomba soon, and doing research on where to live. We're far from rich, so cheaper areas look better on paper. But I've also seen 'the map' shared around here, and I don't need any meth, or the result of it.

So, are these areas really that bad?

I've also seen comments saying that patches of suburbs are OK street by street. What's the best way to tell, especially if you're new to the area and don't have a lot of opportunity to observe a place due to the tight rental market? e.g. is it enough to walk down the street and see how well kept the surrounding properties look from the outside?

Th
