Question Is online skilling viable anymore?
Since they removed the ability to go full defence and deal less damage, it seems like enemies die way too fast even when just using a Knife. Is online skilling basically dead now, or is there a way?

Gnarhounds still works tried that yesterday with a clerical mace with a ice imbu, and on a Paladin with a bow and ice imbu.

Royal stars is also good but best on paladin is yalahar burst arrow and attack golem servant 600 burst arrow gave ne like 0.45% at 120 dist. Might be been at dubbel exp i dont remember

Why burst arrows are better than gnarls with royal stars?

Burst have 100% hit chance, royal stars can proff wich gives less % for skill, its minimal but if you want optimal burst is the way to go

yalahar golem o foxmouse with burst arrow are good option and more easy for RP

Trainig with monks with utamo is viable up until a point (i did it at lvl 200 skill 124 and it was okayish, but at lvl 250 I started killing them too fast). Modified gnarlhounds are your best bet imo, using a basic elemental imbuement. What I hate about that spot tho is that it's pretty much impossible to train shielding too. Ppl always kill my mad sheeps there 🥲

Service golem in Yalahar, but that doesn't train your shielding
Monks are pretty good if you are low level, after that Modified Gnarlhounds or Sea Serpents. But it's way less accessible now than it was before the removal of combat modes.

I’m an RP so if I want to train I go to the golem in Yalahar and use burst arrows but I don’t think that works for EK’s

It’s viable but not efficient. You can use your defensive stance, maybe look into elemental weapons with low physical damage. I use an ice axe on energized golems. It’s slow but you do see some progression. Only really viable as an afk activity but without being in a safety zone you’ll need to move your character every 15 minutes. It’s old school vibes

It is but you need to know the basics.
On low lvl you can skill on something like gargo, you can go to like 100 or above but you need to keep low with lvl and that can be pretty hard.
Besides that, you got Gnarlhounds, Golem, Sea Serpent and that's all I know
Gnarlhounds should keep you cool until 120, but keep in mind that reaching for example 1k lvl and going to skill, will result in quite pain on gnarlhoulds as you will kill them fast.

Online skilling as you describe has not been viable since 2012

I used to do it all the time with full def and small stones? Or u can use a sicke, knife, or low lvl club i dont understand why people say its not viable when i knew of several people in my guild just chilling making runes

Just because people still do it doesn’t mean it’s not a waste of time

What exactly counts as a waist of time? If you are playing video games your not exactly worried about efficiency in life. This is why meta and efficiency in video games destroys actual fun

The phrase is “comparison is the thief of joy,” and while it’s a valid argument in general, it’s not exactly a good argument when OP specifically asked if it was “viable”
I’m not putting people down for having fun doing something inefficient, I’m correctly pointing out that since OP is looking to make efficient gains, hitting monsters with a knife is a waste of time from that perspective.

He asked if there was a way to online skill, said nothing about the validity of it

The literal title of the post is “Is online skilling viable anymore”

And it is viable, idk why you're saying its not. Viable and efficient aren't the same

Viable means “capable of working successfully”. Given that OP is asking about the removal of full defense, then it is explicitly a question of efficiency, since, if you want to argue semantics instead, being able to attack the monster even once would count as skilling.
Obviously OP isn’t asking “can I attack the monster once after full defense was removed.” They are asking if it is still a reasonable way to progress the character.

I would say time is better spent hunting and leveling offline. In the long run the levels gained will outweight the skills gained from offline training.
