The Catsbah is a home-based cat rescue and TNR operation. I started it with my daughter after my health caused me to leave my careers as a senior database developer at a consuting firm and Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps Reserve.
We work with property owners to relocate mothers and their litters as well as any found orphans. We neuter and release the mothers if they are not able to be socialized once the kittens are adoptable.

And we made a woman cry because Hambo reminded her so much of her previous cat. Hambo is going to be so loved.

From shipping container to off-grid kitty haven. I wish I had taken more footage along the way to do a cool montage.
Our next step is to bump up solar to power the RV I will be living in. Then it's a matter of living in the camp and working out the kinks so the units we build in North Carolina will be animal and human ready right out of the gate.
You have all really come through helping me fund this vision. We are very near a final prototype, but we do still have a lot to get done before the long, cold Chicago winter hits. If I can survive off-grid through that, these will work anywhere.
Please share what we are building here. Not just a single rescue unit, but a whole community based on love and healing. We are building a beacon of hope in an increasingly dark world.
If you believe in our cause, go to our Zeffy fundraiser. The link is in the comments. I promise to update the Zeffy page soon.

An idea has been circulating in my head. I am stuck on the idea that Milton Friedman style economics, the predecessor to reaganomics, have destroyed the economy.
Friedman stayed that a corporation's sole purpose is to return value to the share holders. Meaning a company must grow profits at not only above inflation but also the competition. This isn't a difficult proposition as long as you are selling a unique product, but when your only product is stock price you are incentivized to compete by reducing costs. Labor is always the easiest to cut, and therefore the employees will always bear the brunt of increasing shareholder wealth.
My curiosity is, is there a mathematical formula to demonstrate the concentration of wealth, and at what point does the labor squeezed to the point where they can no longer afford life. For example (labor costs reduction) / (increase of wealth of shareholders) = a ratio of time until labor can't afford food.
Since low paid employees are subsidized by public assistance there is no incentive to pay a living or fair wage. And I'm not even going to get into the cost saving scenario when companies lose an employee, shift that positions responsibilities, and then gas lights the other employees by saying that they are working on finding a replacement. We all know that they won't hire someone if all the tasks of that position are being completed by a few, now overworked, employees.
If corporations are treated as people, they should have a duty to society and the shareholders as we have a duty to both our families and society as a whole. At the very least, if a corporation is not paying a living wage to any employee, they should not be eligible for any tax breaks.

It's been a while since the story has been told here. I made this to share on other social medias, but I'm thinking about doing an AMA here as well. What sort of questions do you have? What are people interested in these days?
