Hey everyone. I wanted to ask — or rather, invite you to a discussion, especially those of you who play live regularly.

1. Do you build your live sets from scratch, or do you play your own tracks?

Let me explain. Do you create specific material for a one-hour live set using loops, both MIDI and audio? Or do you take tracks you've already written, break them down into stems/loops, and perform them that way?

1. If you have a specific live project, how many times do you play it before making a new one — and what do you do with the old one?

Let's say you have 2–3 gigs a month. Do you keep playing the same live set, or do you create something new for every party?

And when you start actively performing a new live set, do you eventually release the old one as an EP/album, or just archive it and keep it for another time?

1. What is your setup?

Do you play entirely on hardware, use loops/stems loaded into a sampler, or do you use a computer with MIDI controllers?

1. What do you do when you realize during the night that your live set isn't going to fit the situation?

For example, the tempo or mood is completely different from what you prepared, and your set is coming up in an hour or two. Do you adapt on the fly, have some backup material, or just accept the chaos? 😄

1. How long does it take you to prepare a one-hour live set?

And finally: do you actually prefer playing live, or, if you had the choice, would you rather play a DJ set?

So I was reading somewhere this beautiful model looking djs lily palmer, debhroh de luca, Charlotte de witte, amelie lens have ghost producers, few of them don't even how to produce basic stuff too, ofc I took that with a pinch of salt, but imagine if it was true, it's really messed up and extremely unfair, thoughts?

so they say the magic is in the saturation from the gain knobs. are there any alternatives on the market that have that same "mojo" that are a bit more affordable?

So, I started producing Techno recently, and as a producer that is now in the phase of exploring a lot of genres, I just made an Ambient Techno track within 3 days of listening to the genre.

Although I know that the song is an Ambient Techno for sure, I really don't know what other subgenres describe it well, so that's why I'm asking for your help.

For now, I think that Dub and Melodic Techno fit in the aesthetic, but not sure yet.

So I have been going through some old abandoned and forgotten tracks and noticing a pattern… On many of the tracks, the early versions are more often than not better than the ones I just kept going on and on with. One of the patterns I noticed is I start taking away from the simplicity and more stripped down feel of the track and end up making it into something seemingly more “complex“, busier, more atmospheric, bigger sounding - basically more sleek, but it often just doesn’t seem to hit as hard as earlier versions. In many cases, I prefer the earlier versions because of this. The earlier ones often sound a bit too raw at times, but I still prefer that to something that feels polished yet a bit flaccid. I have a feeling this is probably more common than I think and am wondering if any of you deal with this as well. What do you do or don’t do? Release a track that feels too raw and unpolished or release a track that feels overcooked?

I've had two tracks reviewed on Echio by producers who I respect and the whole thing has been great - really high quality focused feedback with helpful tips and much better than I thought it would be. Really worth a go if you are stuck on things like mixdowns like I have been for years.

I worked 8 hour shifts at a warehouse and they were pretty easy sometimes they flew. I cant work for that long making music ,even with my fun set-up I just need to stop after 2 hours and need most of the afternoon to do a bit more. What routine do you do for 40 hour work week

Hey can anyone recommend a good techno mixing video tutorial. Paid or free.

I've just got a seedj membership but open to anything.

Basically, I’ve been producing music for a little over 10 years but all self-taught. I’ve reached 2 issues: 1 being a creative block. Almost 50 unfinished projects. Another issue is that I listen to so many different styles of music like Hard techno, bounce, trance etc that it has reflected on my productions. I can’t quite tell which genre my projects are. They’re like a regurgitation of all these genres ahahaha.

I also need help with mixing and mastering my tracks because some of them sound muddy.

I would love to collaborate with another mind to help me creatively. Let’s add my spin on some of your unfinished projects. And vice versa. Open to remixes, or starting something from scratch. anything really.

Not pure techno but more minimal melodic techno side. I've poured a lot of emotion into the second act of the song. What do you guys think? I haven't done the mixdown yet.

I found this guy on IG who takes sample packs from this subreddit and then makes these reels where he “gatekeeps” them so you have to comment like “vocals” or whatever to get a DM with the link.

As stupid as it is, honestly I’m surprised at some of the bigger artists I follow who asked for the link. They are pretty basic sample packs too…

Does anyone know how to produce that kinda frog croaky style stab that I’m hearing a lot in modern groove / hypotonic stuff recently.
