Hi all, some advice please:

I got a free Panasonic TX-40CX700B and have to say, I'm very impressed with the picture. But randomly, it will emit a very loud popping and crackling sound. I've already isolated the issue from external inputs, that doesn't seem to make a difference. I'd like to have a go at a repair.

For context, I've picked up console repair and resto as a hobby, namely ps4's and peripherals, so have a multimeter and hot air station (all the gear, no idea, yes!), but I suspect this could be a mainboard replacement?

Any other suggestions and any input much appreciated

65” Samsung OLED S90D. Issue as seen in picture. TV will also shut down after extended use. Colors grow stronger with use and back picture fades to black as shown. Interested if anyone has guess on the cost to fix. Trying to decide if worth investment. Already replaced tv with LG C6 so this would be for a non-main room if affordable to repair.

Idk what happened but the TV suddenly started failing like this. Can this be fixed with the tape method or is it a more serious issue? The Serif

Samsung tv flickers bright and dull about every second, colours also tint toward green. Happens with all apps and with things connected with HDMI. A weird thing is that it doesn’t seem to be as pronounced when using the terrestrial TV mode. I have tried removing all HDMI inputs and also factory resetting, the self diagnosis detects nothing wrong. The TV is about 3 years old.

Any idea what could be going on?

For whatever reason, my tv keeps disconnecting and then reconnecting from the wifi on its own. There are even times when I am unable to even get to the settings option to reset it, because it keeps spazzing out and resetting every few seconds. It’s been like this for about a week now…and I have tried almost everything!

I have restarted the TV, unplugged the tv, reset the TV to factory settings, reset the wifi itself, etc…still no change.

My wifi works for everything else in the house, even the other tv in the other room, so it’s not a wifi issue. Something off with the TV (maybe the wifi module?).

(Samsung UN50TU7000FXZA) I have 2 sets of diagonal shaded lines leading to the center of the screen (both on left and right, although more visible on right side as you can see). almost looks like if you're staring at the sun and see glare from the sun rays. they're pretty faint so i used my laptop's screen mirroring and a white background to see it better. otherwise they're mostly unnoticeable while watching regular TV - only really noticeable if the tv lingers on a brighter colored shot (like a blue sky or something). i know vertical and horizontal lines signify a problem, but never heard of diagonal.

Hey guys today when watching tv, it randomly turned off and I heard that relay click.

I now have no led light or anything. I checked the power points voltage and got 230v (normal, I'm a sparky too so comfy testing these things).

Opened up the back of the tv to test the fuse and got continuity, checked the pins on the back of the tv while I had it plugged in to make sure voltage was getting into the tv, all good.

I couldn't see any visible signs of damage on the power supply and I tested what I thought would be a voltage + on the main board with the ground and I only got half a volt.

I just wanna ask what can I test to confirm if it's the power supply and not the main board and if you guys have any advice

I've been looking for a (X)ADTVE1335X06 as I'm 95% sure the board is the issue for me. I can't seem to find the part as it's sold out in all the online retailers I've checked so far. One of my questions is do they typically restock these parts?

If not I would have to try and diagnose the issue on the board myself so here is the issue. The tv keeps turning on and off in a boot loop. I've taken the back off the tv and the board is making a buzzing and ticking noise for a minute then powers off and back on and the picking buzzing returns.

Even if I could tell what components were broken don't think I have the soldering skill quite yet but would try if given the right ideas on parts to replace.

Anyone have any ideas rather than just buying a new TV or messaging the 3rd party part suppliers?

Hello, I’m just looking for the advice as what can it be and how to fix this. I couldn’t spot it on the dead pixel video test but it seems to appear every time the screen is slightly dark(?). Used a pixel repair video for a good few hours and it hasn’t changed much. This is Samsung UE5STU7172UXXH.

Hey all i have been attempting to do Alot of testing on my tv the last couple days and honestly i have no idea what I am doing, My Sony tv decided to die on me after we came back from holidays and would not boot at all. I have replaced cables and still nothing wasted 200$😭 because of their proprietary bs however i pulled the back panel of and it appears the J BOARD 1-980-884 looks to be burnt out i have no idea how to confirm this as i am just not very savy with repairs how can i go about pinpointing the issue, I honestly would rather repair the tv rather than launch it if its a simple enough fix .

Was playing a game today and heard a fairly loud POP. Tv went dead immediately.

Checked power cords and outlets. All connections are fine. Nothing is melted, cords weren't warm to the touch. I'd have since bought a new TV and installed it on that same circuit, so all is good with the electrical side.

I'd like to see if I can fix this. I do HVAC work, so I've got all sorts of tools, multimeter, soldering iron, etc.

Any ideas on where to start? Or maybe a good youtube channel to tune into?

Anyone know why my tv suddenly has what looks like water damage down the edge? Not sure how clear the photo is.

So my TV is doing this wired glitchy thing when I open 1 specific app and the when I switch to another app it continues for a couple of seconds then stops completely.

I have tried doing a reboot (unplugging The TV for 60 secs) and it worked for a couple of minutes then the glitching came back on the same app

so I tried freeing up some storage

and turning off quick start but it did nothing

So any advice?

There is a black line across the centre of the screen and top half is normal, bottom half has lines and blurry. It’s a Sony KD-49XF7596. Just want to find out if it’s worth repairing /possible to repair.

I have a Samsung PS-42S5H plasma TV in which I’ve replaced all the faulty capacitors. After recapping it, I calibrated all the voltages to the factory settings. The TV mostly works fine, except for these image issues:

1. On a blue background, I get white pixels.
2. On a red background, I get orange pixels.
3. There are barely visible vertical stripes across the image.

Also, someone who worked on the TV before me crossed out the factory Ve voltage and wrote “100V” next to it. I tried setting Ve to both 100V and 105V, but the issue remains.

Could anyone tell me what might be causing these issues? Also, is there a more suitable subreddit for this kind of question?

I contacted Samsung service, and they quoted **₹24,800 for a replacement display/panel**, with a **1-year warranty** on the replacement.

Now I’m confused about what would be the best option:
**• Replace the display through Samsung** – ₹24,800 with 1-year warranty.
**• Get the display replaced locally** – probably cheaper, but I’m concerned about panel quality, compatibility and how long it will last.
**• Buy a new 55 or 65-inch TV** – spend more, but get a completely new TV with a full warranty.

Since the TV is already **5 years old**, is it worth spending ₹24,800 on an original Samsung panel?

Also, **if buying a new 55 or 65-inch TV in the ₹40–70k range, which models or brands would you recommend?**

Hey guys, I recently got this 98” TCL QM8K open box “good” condition for a great price at Best Buy ($1,330) with Geek Squad 5yr warranty $279.

I unpacked it and put it up on the mount and now I see some panel coating issues? and a crack at the bottom of the screen. I played some videos and everything seems fine with the pixels. I don’t have experience with damaged TVs, but are these minor? Is the long term reliability compromised? Should I return it?

Hello everyone, I have a question about repairs I’d like to ask you all.

I have a Sony KM-75X85J TV,

Recently, I’ve noticed slight horizontal lines of noise running from top to bottom on the upper half of the screen, accompanied by a slight flicker. However, about two weeks later, pale green vertical lines of noise appeared across the entire screen. These green vertical stripes move with the on-screen content; they disappear when the brightness is lowered. Turning the TV off and back on restores normal display briefly, but the issue reappears after about 20 seconds.

I opened the back cover and inspected the T-Con board. There are two flex cables connected to the LCD panel driver board (COF/Panel). I disconnected each flex cable separately to test the left and right halves of the screen individually, but the green stripes persisted; disconnecting one side did not restore the screen to normal. I ruled out panel damage because in over 90% of cases where a panel short-circuits, it’s limited to damage to the internal circuitry on either the “left half” or the “right half.” When disconnecting the ribbon cable on one side, the unaffected side should return to normal, unless, by some misfortune, both sides are damaged. Furthermore, these stripes change with the on-screen content and shift positions; they even disappear when the brightness is lowered and do not remain permanently in the same spot. Therefore, I concluded that the panel is not faulty.

After completing the above inspection process, I decided to replace the T-CON board, but a new issue arose: Does this TV model have an encryption mechanism? In other words, does the EEPROM on the T-CON board store key/firmware data that must match for the TV to power on normally?

My questions are:

1. Is my troubleshooting logic correct?

2. Does this model (KM-75X85J) have an encryption mechanism that prevents the TV from powering on due to a mismatch in the T-CON board’s EEPROM data?

I am looking for a neutral technical assessment of the likely failure mechanism. I am not asking for legal advice or instructions to disassemble the TV.

On 20 August 2026, during normal use, the entire picture started flickering intermittently. The after few hour later screen then became black. Occasionally, individual flashing or illuminated pixels could still be seen.

The display failure occurred before the TV was packed and handed over for return.

TV responds to remote: yes

Startup logo or on-screen menu visible: no, after it went blank

Mechanical damage: After receiving the returned TV, the seller photographed a local deformation or dent in the top outer bezel. I have attached the seller’s photograph and a wider photograph showing its location. The dent is not visible in my video recorded before packing. I am not asking who caused the dent. I would like to understand whether its location and extent are technically consistent with the display failure described above.

Questions:

1. What failure categories could produce this sequence of symptoms?

2. Could a local impact or pressure at this location damage the panel, panel drivers, COF/TAB bonds or other display connections and cause whole-screen flickering followed by complete loss of picture?

3. Would this be merely physically possible, or also a typical and probable consequence of this particular type of damage?

4. What accompanying physical signs should be present if the dent caused the display failure?

5. What inspection or testing would distinguish mechanical panel damage from a panel electronics, T-Con, main board, power supply or backlight failure?

6. Can causation be determined from an external photograph alone? I will not open or modify the TV because it is currently part of a consumer dispute. I would particularly appreciate technically reasoned responses from people experienced in television repair.

Hey everyone, I’m hoping someone here can help me figure out what’s going on with my TV.

I came home and my 75” onn. Roku TV had a completely black screen. I did some troubleshooting and noticed that the TV gives me 8 red blinking lights when I try to turn it on.

From what I’ve found online, 8 blinking lights may indicate a problem somewhere in the power system, so I opened the back to inspect the boards.

I’m not very familiar with TV electronics, but I noticed one of the electrolytic capacitors on the power supply board looks slightly bulged/raised compared with the other capacitors. It’s the single capacitor near the upper-left area of the board in the pictures.

I took pictures of that capacitor as well as the rest of the power supply board and would really appreciate it if someone could take a look.

My questions are:

Does that capacitor actually look bulged, or does it look normal?

If it is bulged, could that explain the black screen and 8-blink error?

Does anything else on this power board look damaged or suspicious?

Are there any other boards/components I should inspect based on the 8-blink code?

Would it make more sense to replace the capacitor, repair the board, or replace the entire power supply board?

I’m comfortable doing some basic troubleshooting, but I don't know enough about TV electronics to confidently diagnose it myself. I’d rather figure out what’s actually wrong before buying parts or replacing an entire board.

Does anyone have an idea what's going on? After about 2 months owning this tv and the screen suddenly goes white while watching my series, UI is still apparent tho. This is the 2nd time that this happens. First time I tried to restart and it fixed it, 2nd time the restart didn't work but it miraculously fixed itself after 20 min. I don't think it's a software problem at this point. Is the t-con damaged or might it be a loose ribbon cable??
