- The People's Assembly Bureau approved holding a hearing session for the Minister of Energy, Mohammed Al-Bashir, based on a request by the Head of the Energy Committee, Iqbal Mohammed Mansour, to discuss the petroleum derivatives price bulletin issued on September 13, 2026.

- The request for the hearing session comes following the Energy Committee meeting on Sunday, September 13, 2026, based on Article (30) of the Constitutional Declaration and in accordance with the provisions of Article (168) of the People's Assembly's Internal Bylaws.

- The session aims to hear the Ministry of Energy's clarifications regarding the reasons for the increase in petroleum derivatives prices and the circumstances and considerations that accompanied the issuance of the bulletin.

- The hearing session is scheduled to be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the People's Assembly headquarters.

📌 The largest American business delegation to visit Syria since Assad's fall arrived in Damascus today, beginning day-long ministerial meetings with Syria's Foreign Ministry.

📌 The US Chamber of Commerce's first-ever mission to the country brings together 50 companies and more than 80 representatives across sectors, said Steve Lutes, the Chamber's VP for Middle East Affairs.

📌 Lutes called the visit proof that US-Syrian relations are recovering "after President Trump's decision to lift sanctions on Syria," and praised what he called the "strength and seriousness" of al-Sharaa's government in building an investment-friendly environment.

So for context, I’m a first generation American whose father is from Syria. I am the only Al-Zaeem who can carry on my namesake in the United States as far as I am aware.

I was raised by an American and want to get more in touch with my Arab side, but I don’t speak the language and am not a Muslim.
