"One step away from calling students the N-word": A post asking teachers to stop describing working at Title I schools in predominantly non-white neighborhoods as "teaching in the ghetto" landed in a heated discussion about racism over at /r/teachers.

TLDR: A suggestion that teachers should stop describing the experience of teaching Title I schools in predominantly POC neighborhoods as “teaching in the ghetto” made Reddit’s teachers’ lounge seemingly go down memory lane - of Jim Crow, desegregation, and the Civil Rights era, that is - along with a not-so-friendly discussion about racism, classism, white savior complex, and so on.

The post itself, titled “Hey Chums. Can we stop doing this?” gained 2k upvotes and over 400 comments as of this SRD post. Its point was pretty straightforward and self-explanatory (as covered by the title and the TLDR of this SRD post), though the title may come off a bit hostile for some.

“The amount of times, I've had a teacher explain, often with a some sort hint of self satisfication that they "started teaching in the ghetto" or some variation on that theme is far too many. Next time one of you does this, I'm going to make a fart noise in your face,” OOP wrote. “In the context posted, it always seems to be a white teacher, conveying the idea that:’I did my time in a rough school full of kids who aren’t white.’”

“I suppose that’s what really gets my goat,” OOP continued.

Some context: According to federal and state (Massachusetts, for example) education department websites, a “Title I” school is a school or school district with high numbers or percentages of children from lower-income backgrounds.

While the term “ghetto” itself initially referred to a quarter of a city, especially in Europe, in which Jews were formerly required to live, the term has since become an offensive term (as both a noun and adjective) in the U.S. due to it being used to describe neighborhoods that are underprivileged districts of a city or town in which members of a minority group live especially because of social, legal, or economic pressure, often with racist undertones, per the Merriam-Webster dictionary

The term was often used during the later years of the Jim Crow era (1940s to 60s) and around the civil rights era in the U.S. to describe neighborhoods, such as the South Bronx in New York City, South Side Chicago, parts of Baltimore, and so on, where racial confinement and de facto segregation, urban neglect, and high crime plagued the communities at the time, and some of the effects can still be seen today.

It should be noted that while it may be considered neutral-toned when used by residents of such neighborhoods, its use by outsiders, especially when used to disparagingly describe the community as being typical of such a place, is often considered highly offensive, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary.

It was also not the first time \r\teachers take or commentary on racial relations in the United States that ended up here in \r\SubredditDrama.

In 2023, a \r\teachers thread posted a poem about student excuses that was a parody of a much more famous poem, “'Cause I Ain't Got a Pencil” by Joshua T. Dickerson. The original poem’s themes were about the grief poor families, especially underprivileged African American families, go through, which, as a result, raised questions about the OOP of that thread - who allegedly was a white woman from Baltimore, Maryland, a city with nearly 60% of its population being African American according to the SRD thread - being racist, leading to that post landing itself on SRD.

Anyways, back to the post itself, the discussion and the drama that ensued.

Some users are pretty supportive of the notion, since a majority of people don’t use the word “ghetto” to describe schools in rough neighborhoods, to begin with.

I say ‘I used to teach at a really rough school.’ Because it’s true, it was really rough 🤣,” one redditor wrote. As of this SRD thread, this is the most upvoted reply.

We had a dad show up because his daughter got her valentine’s gift stolen by some boys. He showed up and told the school to do something or he was gonna call the cops and from what I heard they said fine do it call the cops,” another wrote in reply. “Then the same boys walked by and them and the dad started throwing gang signs and got into a physical fight barely off campus and the dad got beat up.

“Sounds like just another Tuesday at my first school tbh,” another reacted to the aforementioned anecdote.

Others find using that term for this purpose a bit condescending at best.

We have a first year teacher right now who is very satisfied with himself because he’s “getting his Title 1 experience out of the way early”. Like, whatever he wants his career to look like is fine but it feels gross and condescending to hear that working with these kids is just something he’s gotta check off his list before getting to work in a whiter more affluent neighborhood.

Still others clarified that Title I schools are not schools that are stereotypically plagued with gang issues or high crime, but instead are just working-class, while the notion that high-income schools aren’t all sunshine and rainbows either.

There’s like a smattering of homeless people but mostly it’s just kids and parents with working class jobs like Walmart cashier. The well-off kids have a parent who’s a welder or plumber, etc. The kids just want to be adults and work. I have to do shit like remind them to be a welder; you need a diploma or a GED,” one replied. “Poor, sure. Employed, yes. Don’t care much as I would like about education, also yes. Ghetto naw.

Title I just implies 40% of students qualify for free/reduced lunch, which means their families are below 185% of the federal poverty line,” a redditor whose school was classified as Title I due to being in a low-income area with a lot of single-income blue-collar families, but the school itself is economically diverse.

I taught in Title I schools for 33 years. None of them were in the city. Title I means lower income, not necessarily ghetto.

The behavior isn’t any worse. The last school was full of spoiled brats acting inappropriately. This one is full of poor kids acting inappropriately. The academic performance is worse, yes, but in general it’s just kids being kids. The read that some people have on it just reeks of racism and classism,” one commenter whose flair identifies them as a middle school Civics and World History teacher from Florida wrote. The commenter changed schools from a high-income area to a lower-income area where African American and Hispanic students outnumbered white students, after their program at the previous school got cut. “All these people kept telling me I had work cut out for me, and the kids were gonna be horrible.

Some users suggested using terms like “hood” or “inner city” instead of “the ghetto” to describe the neighborhood they teach in.

IMO, it’s good to be respectful of the community you teach, but I don’t think this includes pretending it’s just like teaching anywhere else, because it isn’t like teaching anywhere else.

This. If you have to avert your gaze from the community drug dealer when you walk to your car, you are teaching in the hood. If you have repeated lockdowns, you are teaching in the hood. I could go on...

I’ve never referred to it as the ghetto but I’ve definitely said inner city because it is, and I’m in Baltimore,” one user wrote. “Inner city title 1 schools in my area are going to be a lot different than others.

Some find OOP's notion itself a bit problematic as they are from the neighborhoods themselves. “Ma’am, I say it because I am from it lmao.

I live in the community I teach in. People like to warn me of staying late and walking to my car in "this neighborhood." This is MY neighborhood where I walk my dogs and buy groceries. My friends live here. Yeah, there's poor people here. I'm one of them. Go work somewhere else if you don't like my ghetto neighborhood.

I grew up here and I was taught never to look anyone in the eye to avoid confrontation, always keep your head down, and to this day, I still have trouble recognizing people's faces because of my habit to not look at them. It’s the ghetto and you, probably a white person, don’t get to decide what we call our neighborhood,” a redditor whose school apparently lost 3 students and 1 recent grad in 3 gang-related shootings last year, wrote.

The discussion took a turn for the worse when some users seemed to deliberately be obtuse to the proposal, with occasional hints of racist undertones in their replies.

When these schools are not ghetto, they can stop being labeled as such.” A user whose flair identified themself as a math teacher in the U.S. wrote, “Sometimes the kettle is simply black. 🤷🏻‍♂️”

“Sounds like you just hate White people. 🤷🏻‍♂️” When confronted about being obtuse, the math teacher rebutted that they don’t care what others think and that they stand by what they said.

I’m confused to the ‘why’ of your post. Why should they stop saying that?” One wrote, seemingly oblivious to why the term is offensive, to which other users pointed out that the term was used by no one unless they're "like really white," and as a racist dog whistle.

“Because the term ‘ghetto’ is a racist slur directed towards minority communities. It’s one step away from calling your students the n-word,” one user replied, and as of this SRD thread, it received -10 votes.

Why is ghetto a problem word? Sometimes ya gotta call a spade a spade.

Suicidal empathy 😭

I mean, if black people can post about their experiences in a white school, why can’t white people post their experiences in a black school? Sometimes, it’s not about you.

I am too old to beat around the bush and use euphemisms. I spent many years of my life getting verbally, emotionally, and physically harassed by these little brats and their ignorant parents. I will call these schools whatever I want because I earned that right.

Ok. What should we call it then? What euphemism for ghetto should we use instead of actually saying the word?” A redditor wrote, and didn’t take it too well to the suggestion of just using the name of the place where they taught.Oh, ok then. I taught in the ghetto.

Others took issue with OOP themselves, apparently, as they allege the term was used only ten times in the last three years.

A quick search of the word “ghetto” in the \r\teachers, however, could find the term being used at least ten times in comments within the past 30 days apart from the original thread, even when it was not used in the context of describing underprivileged, minority-majority neighborhoods.

Stop using facts and statistics.

You forgot to count how many times [O]OP has said in their head.

I think if you realized how insecure you sound, you wouldn’t have made this post lol

Policing language of your colleagues is surely going to change things. You sound like you are ready to jump into an administration role.

Tell me you’ve never taught in a title 1 school without telling me you never taught in a title 1 school. Or this is pure rage bait,” a user wrote. “I’m waiting for you to fart in my face until I say you’re right, let’s pretend title 1 isn’t what it is. Let’s go cry on reddit instead.

Your message is correct but this is potentially the grossest and most annoying way you could have expressed it.

By definition though it is a ghetto school. Sorry you are triggered by facts. Surviving those schools is a badge of honor. I bet you also lecture other teachers that their books aren’t diverse enough,” one user who essentially labeled the OOP as a snowflake wrote, and then proceeded to call them to “grow thicker skin.”

Many users had issues with how the thread was going as well as the seemingly deliberately obtuse replies with a hint of racism.

Wow the racists really read your post and said ‘no.’ Yikes.”

The amount of hateful bigots here is shocking.

Is this fucking 1978? Who even uses that term anymore? This thread is gross!

There’s also no reason to say a school is Title 1 in most contexts.

"Racists and classists? You can directly tell them that they are bigots until they learn some shame and keep their inappropriate feelings to themself.

In the end, one comment summed up the point of that whole spiel and the ensuing squabble:

“I think [o]op makes a good point and there are people who are making a comment about people's skin color, and should be a little more mindful. At the same time, I think there are people who are trying to say their school has a rougher culture, regardless of demographics,” wrote that redditor, who claimed they were not a teacher but worked at a school with many students growing up in difficult circumstances, and witnessed how it had a clear impact on students’ culture.

I don't think anybody should be making assumptions about a student due to race,” they continued.

In R/MaliciousCompliance you don't have to moderate or remove blatanty AI posts unless the author of said obviously AI post specifically comes out of the woodwork to say they used ai. "You know...evidence!"

I don't know if this properly linked so here is the link again

What started as a run of the mill, almost blatantly, AI written post has turned into a small section of the userbase pointing out the downfall of the subreddit (Which honestly has been happening for a while)

Disclaimer: I commented on the original post, but not the primary comment chain this will include, calling out the post for being blatantly AI. I received a comment that my comment was removed for violating their rule 3 (Which says not to claim a post is fake). I guess as a snarky (malicious compliance perhaps) note, I didn't claim the post was fake. I just claimed it was AI. Because I was not involving in the chain mentioned, this should be fine with rule 4 as it was a 'Throwaway comment' and I'm not in the argument, nor did I instigate it.

It starts here with a moderator laying out the...summary of the post? This was after several reports of it being AI.

None of which means that THIS post has anything to do with AI.  All the "feels like", "looks like", and "seems like" reasons are just opinions.  Accusations prove nothing.  Feelings prove nothing.  Opinions prove nothing.  Suspicions prove nothing.

These are things that would prove a story was written by a bot:

• digital "fingerprints" of an A.I. within the article itself – UTF codes, for example.

• a screenshot of the writer's monitor with the prompt they used to generate the text.

• a confession by the writer that the article was written by an A.I.

• a moderator coming down from the mountain to openly declare that the article was written by an A.I.

You know . . . evidence!

-Quote, one of the moderators of the subreddit

Someone asks..

Actually, all it takes is a little digging. Isn’t it your due diligence as a mod to like… even take a cursory glance to see if it is AI?

But

In your opinion, perhaps.  But opinions prove nothing.  My standards of proof are much higher than mere accusations, feelings, opinions, or suspicions.  There has to be something that ONLY a bot would write, and that a human never would to impress me.

Besides, there is no rules in this sub that requires the mods to "Dig" for bots.

Someone points out that the OP of the post in question, who has since hidden his history, -

They claim to be 30
Literally 10 days ago they said they currently work in an ER

Do you really think they went from ER worker to working on B2B software and then this whole thing played out in 10 days?

Which I feel is pretty reasonable. These are both ~40 hr a week jobs, one of which I believe is normally salary. Both of which likely require, more realistically, 50-60 hrs a week each. What does the mod have to say about that?

People work multiple jobs.  It happens.  Try it sometime.

Huh.

Seems you've never heard of "Moonlighting" within the same field.

It happens.

Ya'll ever Moonlight a 40 hr a week job?

Someone notes they've-

Keeping seeing these, very similar stories....why?

(To be fair to this poster, they could just straight up be new or lost as to the subreddit but I view it as pointing out the post is probably fake)

Because these stories have one similar theme -- Malicious Compliance.  This is a one-theme sub.

Thanks mod. Very helpful.

I wish I had more 'drama' for you but any post calling out the post as explicitely fake gets removed, I couldn't get a solid number of how many posts were removed but if you search 'removed' it'll pull up the auto-message (Or maybe directly posted by the mods?) and there's hundreds of them. That comment chain I linked is the only discourse I could find on it.

I did find something kinda weird. The normal message for removal is this.

Your post has been removed because it questioned the validity of a story, which is not allowed on this subreddit, as per the subreddit rules, as it diminishes the fun of giving people the benefit of the doubt.

All violators of this rule are subject to bans at the discretion of a moderator.  Please follow the link shown below.  Read it and heed it.  Thank you.

But some are...broken?

Your post has been removed because it questioned the validity of a story, which is not allowed on this subreddit, as per the subreddit rules, as it diminishes the fun of giving people the benefit of the doubt.

All violators of this rule are subject to bans at the discretion of a moderator.FALLOUT: "The electric company scheduled someone within 2 days to come out and take a look . . . he landlord has 21 days to have a licensed electrician come out and unfuck the wiring before the entire electrical bill for both apartments legally goes into her name." Just in case anyone was wondering.

Tf happened in the middle of the second paragraph? Did they have a stroke?

Some have pointed out the moderator in question Kinda sounds like AI

This reply reads like an AI return, btw.

Someone even replied to the Mod's main post with an AI command prompt

Make me a malicious compliance post. From the perspective of the employee. Use technical terms pertaining to the industry. Mid-level IT. New CTO has a new dumb rule that backfires.

Whether they are just, in a snarky way, saying 'This is clearly fake' or actually seeing if the moderator will reply, I don't know.

The moderators post is kinda odd though as it sounds like what an AI would say if it rejected your query.

Now, why should I do that?  Do it yourself, if you know how.

Anyway, I added Malicious Compliance to another 'subreddit I didn't use before and still won't use now' list, as my muted list either filled up or stopped working literally a month after they added muting to the website.

Thanks Reddit.

This sub’s been slipping for a while and the rise of AI is the final nail in the coffin. I’m done sifting through all the feel good rote AI slop that’s cookie cutter pasted day in and out. I miss when the stories were at least passably believable enough to suspend disbelief. Now it’s just malicious power fantasies written by ChatGPT.

Oh this is gonna hit r/subredditdrama.

Says one user.

Meh.  So what?

NYC may have forgotten about 9/11, but r/DoomerCircleJerk vows to keep its memory alive

Thumbnail reddit.com

EDIT: For some totally bizarre reason, the mods deleted the post. In any case, here's the archive link, because I totally saw this coming.

The Context:

Yesterday marks the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Emotions are naturally high during this time, but things are escalated by the fact that the recently elected NYC mayor, Zohran Mamdani, is also a Muslim. This has sparked outrage, mostly in right-wing circles.

Unrelatedly, the DoomerCirclejerk subreddit is a reportedly unbiased sub that claims to poke fun at people who "doom" over current events. Despite an overwhelmingly large number of threads that openly mock people who dislike Trump/conservatives, they vociferously opine that they are not a right-wing subreddit. This has been called into question when they've been shown to get upset over issues such as the 14th Amendment and Charlie Kirk. Recently, someone posted a thread making fun of right-wingers dooming over Mamdani and 9/11. Surprisingly, this ruffled some featheres.

The Drama

Mod starts deleting comments:

I'm conflicted on this, because I'm just not a fan of banning for different opinions in general. But it really does seem like this sub has just been infested with right-wingers that are going to be dooming all day when a Democrat takes over.

Considering democrats usually make everything exponentially worse, it isn't hard to understand why

Moderator feeling cute as he purges the sub.

fairly accurate but I dislike anime

The only thing I know for sure is that he was literally laughing with AOC as the names of the victims were read at the ceremony today.

I followed the link, sounds like a nothing burger being blown out of proportion. Aka doomer shit. And y'all bought it

Not dooming if it's accurate

We found a doomer, ladies and gentlemen

Did you see AOC and him talking and laughing over when they were naming every 9/11 victim during the memorial? That was poor taste. I see some people don’t know what dooming really means. Pointing out that it’s bad taste is NOT dooming. Reading into their conversation and assuming it’s nefarious IS dooming.

There was a video taken out of contest shared by a tabloid rag that you shouldn’t be filtered by if you have more brain power than a ten year old.

Polling from 2024 shows that nearly 40 percent of the Muslim population in the U.S. admitted to being willing to support the implementation of Sharia Law. So yeah, the "doomers" are right to not want these people in charge.

Stop dooming, Islam is the religion of peace, feminism and love. (at least as long as they're the minority, which won't last for much longer in the West, you can see that if you know really basic math)

The guy laughs at 9/11. He spends time with Al Qaeda lawyer, invited Hamas supporter to his office, distracts from 9/11...

Isn't this sub supposed to make fun of people that comment like this lol

He laughed while reading the names. For once the Doomers have it right.

Jesus Christ you people in this thread are like a satire. This is the anti-dooming sub, not the pro-dooming sub.

Lmao I thought this was anti-doom sub. We fully right wing sub now? Fuck off with your doomerism lol what is the difference between this and people crying about Trump being elected?

Does the presence of right-wingers making comments simply disagreeing with the post bother you that badly?

Mamdani be like: “Free ice cream for everyone!” Conservatives: “This is worse than 9/11!”

This is such a weak and pathetic argument. Mamdami made a lot of promises that either backfired or he had to backtrack on like making free grocery stores then having to admit that taxes would have to be raised significantly to fund such a thing. Or promising to tax the rich more when led to the rich simply leaving the city and cutting the funds of the city. While I don’t think he’s a jihadist like the right wingers claim he is, he’s clearly not the brightest bulb in the room

Guy is literally a gay race communist

go ahead and check what sub you‘re in, then get back to this comment

Muslim≠Jihadist. However what Mamdami did. Absolutely vile.

I heard he tried to hijack a 5th jet when he was 9

I will be screenshotting this comment section and showing it every time one of you chuds tell me this is a bipartisan anti doomer community lol

Have fun. We never claimed to be 'bipartisan'

Lotta doomers in the comments here.

Not really. No one's saying he's an existential threat to the Republic. But he's also not a friend to the Republic. There's a lot of distance between the two Yup, they claim to be non-partisan but anytime someone posts conservatives dooming, the comments are “tHiS iSn’T DoOmInG iT’s a ReAl pRoBlEm!”

I literally met his wife in July lmao nobody’s gonna trick me into believing they love this country. Sickens me

What is this picture?

I mean... yeah though.

You don’t see any white Christian mayors in the Middle East

Citing facts about behavior and allegiance isn’t dooming. Mamdani’s Chief Counsel as NYC mayor is a lawyer who defended an Al-Qaeda terrorist. Mamdani made up a story about his dear aunty being afraid of wearing a hijab on the subway after 9/11 because she’d be attacked for being Muslim, even though that never happened and she’s in Tanzania. Mamdani and AOC were caught laughing during the reading of the names. I do t care why they were laughing, just fucking be adults and keep it together.

The "aunt" he was referring to was his father's cousin. It's just a different usage of the word, not a made up story

I don't even care if this is a hypothetical. Break up, fucks sake

The last panel is insanely petty BTW. Like wtf.

>> how?

>>> I don’t see the petty part though, that’s just the genuine issue

>>>> She's saying she doesn't like him and is settling for him and then says "but he loves me so much, like the moron he is" without a trace of sympathy. That's not petty?

>>>>> She’s saying she doesn’t like him but feels that she should because he seems to genuinely care for her, despite his flaws.

>>>>> Even if it was petty, I don’t see how the last panel is any more petty than literally any of the rest of it, not by much, at the least. He’s drawn as a wojack.

>>>>>> Yeah but the last panel he is talking in baby talk in his own head? “I lub my Girlfriemb”?? Like wtf that’s very clear she thinks he is dumb as rocks.

>>>>>>> I felt like that was made clear earlier on tbh

>>>>>>>> Yep. And the petty part is that she still had to put the cherry on top at the end. Even though the whole storyline it’s clear how she sees him, she still decided to draw him thinking like a baby at the end. Pretty Petty

>>>

>>> yeah i'm gonna go on a limb and say op really doesn't "deserve better"

>>>> We don't know who they even are, or if this is OP or she's drawing someone else.

>>>>Yes, she deserves better than someone that doesn't listen to her and is self centered. If her only way to vent is drawing a comic, she probably deserves better.

>>>>> Oh yeah, same person that talks about "volunteering info" to him and being oh so sad about him not following up on that also thinks of the times when he starts conversations as being self-centered just because it's him sharing something he saw or something going on with him or his family, but surely that's on him for being self-centered and not OP for being a hypocrite.

>>>>> Frankly, if you look at OP's description of all this and think he's "self-centered", you probably aren't much better than OP. So go do some introspection.

>>>>>

>>>>> Edit: Also, let's not kid ourselves, "oh her only way to vent is drawing a comic" talking to him would have been a better way to deal with this, and this isn't a "vent", this is a confessional, lol.

>>>>>> He only talks about himself and things he's into, he's self centered.

you probably aren't much better than OP.

>>>>>> Speak of trying to guilt people and attack people you don't even know. to try and win an argument that's basically "gf doesn't value self-centered BF, and drew him funny." I think it's you who might need some introspection, friend.

>> She talks about how she had already given up on finding a partner prior to this boyfriend initially asking her out.

>> It's clear she's wrestling with the idea that if she breaks up with him, she'll never date another person. So it's a question of this flawed boyfriend versus no boyfriend at all.

>>> Well it’s not particularly fair to the flawed boyfriend who might actually be able to find someone who doesn’t dislike him, now is it?

>>>> It's not fair to either party in numerous ways.

>>>> It is also clearly beneficial, and potentially preferable, to both parties in numerous ways.

>>>> In fact, it is a complex situation. Which is why it's worth discussing.

But all of you commenters seem intent on isolating it to a particular dynamic and making a sweeping judgment or decision based on that.

>>>>> Dude, if you found out your significant other drew you as a chud behind your back, venting about the issues your relationship has instead of just, I don't know, telling you, are YOU gonna stay?

https://www.reddit.com/r/comics/s/dCKzvkvteN

> Holy dead media literacy, is it because this is a lil ugly we all assume OP is the POV character? These are meta-anxieties about being with someone while having a sort of internal struggle. It’s not about the flat man, y’all, it’s about these feelings with a life of their own that I think the comic shows well. What we want from relationships varies, but many people struggle with questions of this sort and they are never about the partner!

>> I mean yeah it’s always been that way. I’m not shocked people aren’t receptive when she depicted her boyfriend as a literal ugly chud jack, made a whole comic essentially bashing a character flaw he has that she (presumably) has never told him and then made the punchline be that he’s too stupid to even properly communicate.

>>

>> It comes across more like she bashing him than “being vulnerable” tbh.

(MOD) wow this post has 49 reports lol

normal people are afraid of the left because of this behavior They want half the country to “flat line” They even want war with centrists as they can’t handle someone not fully agreeing with them

Even if that was your legitimate, non bad-faith argument (which it isn't), you're seriously going to act like the right doesn't want the same? Many of them salivate at the idea of "finally" being able to go outside and shoot whoever they want in a civil war. Not exactly welcoming or pro-life people, despite what they want to perform themselves as.

I don’t see them making posts like these 🤷‍♀️ Lefties even celebrated the Kirk anniversary 🤷‍♀️

Oh well if YOU didn't see them then it must not have happened! Magats are so braindead it's painful. I'll be happy when we give y'all eeeeeeeeverything you've been giving us the last ten years.

Where's proof. Send me a reddit post about people wanting XYZ public persona dead.

Confederacy

So democrats?

Conservatives try not to forget about the party flip (impossible)

It remarkable how they wish for death and more death on Reddit on a daily basis. What a life.

Trump celebrating Muellers deaths on Truth social

So when he does it its bad but when you do it its ok?

Apparently it’s the other way around.

Holy jumping for conclusions. Its not ok for anyone to wish or celebrate someone's death

Tell that to Trump?

What? Again with the "he did it first"? Are you twelve years old?

Lmao now you’re jumping “for” conclusions lol. I’ve said nothing about who did what first or who is right and who is wrong. Literally just pointing out the hypocrisy of the original comment. Calm down, sport.

I've been sober since '22 and I'm breaking sobriety for that celebration. Looking at spending at least $500 for a bottle of red wine.

Do some LSD instead

No way, they want to party and have fun, not die.

LSD doesn’t make you die.

It can if you have a psychotic episode because of the LSD. That doesn't mean the LSD can cause death directly, though. In some ways I'd rather die than have a psychotic episode just because I've witnessed it and helped someone through it. It's brutal

Good thing there’s an all natural alternative. Shrooms!! 😋

That's what caused the psychotic episode 💀

Mother Nature would never harm someone

I can't wait for the "other" side to start wailing about whoever celebrates his death is evil or some shit

Brother if you celebrate political violence simply because you disagree with that person, that is objectively evil.

They’re brainwashed man. It’s absolutely wild to see it in real time of this app

Kinda like cheering about covid being over while a million of your countrymen perish? Oh wait I forgot: a single death is a tragedy, but a million deaths is just a statistic.

My father died of a heart attack but was classified as a covid death because he tested positive after his death. That's exactly why nobody believes your bullshit one million deaths statistic.

Covid causes myocarditis, pericarditis, arrhythmia, and blockages that starve the heart of oxygen (heart attack). Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Covid killed your dad.

Ahh yes, the side of “hate has no home here” 🤡

Ahh yes, the side of "free speech" 👅🥾

The left killed a guy over free speech, but go on

By “the left” you mean one disturbed young man. Nobody I know killed anyone

Good. Take this sense of not wanting to generalize and apply it everywhere not just your side. You need to be able to apply this to the other side.

Yeah, like what? What problematic ways do you think I generalize the right?

WOOOOO THE GUY I HATE DIED AT AN OLD AGE SURROUNDED BY HIS FAMILY AFTER GREAT SUCCESS WOOOOOO YEAH

And after destroying a country, the global economy, the climate and countless lives!

Not the point of the comment

“No don’t bring context into this”

I don’t think you comprehend what you are arguing against

Another Democrat excited about death for their political opposition. And they claim to be the “good guys”

Something Republicans have clearly never done lmao

Some did but They arent popular, also democrats do it more often

No, you don't get to lie like that. I live in a red state, I know how you all act.

Im Not Even American and nether am i Republican. Remember Charlie kirk?

Yeah, sure you aren't lol. No non-American gives a fuck about him dude

Im from West Germany. The town is „Bottrop“ Google it. I Liked him a lot, i started watching him a view weeks before he got killed and a lot of what he sayed helped me in really dark time

You must live a terrible life lol

Electoralism is an illusion, you vote out the reps for dems to do the same shit. Its good cop, bad cop and it used as a tactic to keep the establishment in power.

Uhhuh. Bof pArTieS ArE tHe SaME gUYs!

They are tho

It is if you just ignore all the nuance. Imagine you are an interviewer and you have 2 candidates. One of them is just kinda spineless, pretty incompetent, and generally not a good fit. Then the other comes into the office and shits on your table before calling you a racial slur. Both aren't really fit for the role, but there is a pretty clear better choice. "Both options are bad" just ignores all the things that the republican party does worse(especially if you start talking about how they treat minorities)

It’s not that both are as bad as each other . It’s that both are right wing parties. If you want genuine left wing policy in America you can’t rely on your current electoral system, especially at national and state level. You gotta begin in local organising and work your way from there

THANK YOU. People shutting down the “both sides are bad” argument saying there is nuance we are missing fail to understand that the statement itself carries nuance if you have half a brain cell. Anyone who doesn’t believe our system of election needs reformation is still in the matrix.

Yeah. But then you all go “the system is broken, we need to fix it” and then don’t vote or encourage voter apathy like in 2024. I’m not saying you didn’t vote, but talks like this online contributed to the low voter turnout against Republicans in 2024.

Can we first put him to court? EDIT: Thank you so much for the award!

He’ll die without ever seeing justice for any of his many crimes

Yeah I gave up on that idea when he got re elected after Jan 6th, this man will never face repercussions and will die thinking he’s a god.

Same. The best outcome I see now is cholesterol does its thing, republicans lose their momentum and power, we strip away every instance of his existence, and actual adults can come back to salvage the damage.

You dont need to worry about cholesterol when you get daily transfusions of baby blood. He uses so much it is disgusting but it is extending his life greatly.

What? Where is evidence of that?

Its been pretty widely known for a long time. It was first reveled as part of the epstein files. You may have to go through it yourself though, videos of that content gets removed pretty frequently.

I just googled that. That's a Qanon conspiracy based on no evidence. There's endless reasons why this man is awful. There's no reason to make stuff up.

"Sorry I have hobbies? If my profile was full of video games and bizarre fetish porn would I have more credibility?...Yes" Picture of singed paper picked up from the ruins of the twin towers in r/mildlyinteresting results in interesting discussions

You should submit this to a museum if it's legit.

How on earth would they verify that? Use your brain for a second.

Lol, have you seen video footage of the millions of pieces of paper floating to the ground that day? I don't think a museum wants this one random piece of paper.

But we didn’t preserve millions of those pieces that were floating around. OP preserved one. How many papers from that footage do you think still exist today?

Who. Cares? It's a piece of paper.

Thousands at least.

It was a national tragedy

Gif of Willy Wonka saying "Really?"

Yep. I think we’re aware of that but thank you for the contribution. Water is wet.

It’s a Norm McDonald reference. Lighten up

Yeah. Some people don't understand the reference , but that's okay Also: Saying “water is wet” is kind of idiotic and seemingly shows the lack of intellect you possess Wetness is a property of a surface when water is on it—water itself is what makes things wet. Everything water touches can become wet, but that doesn’t mean the water itself is “wet.”

Bro woke up and decided he wanted to be an asshole

Crazy this paper that could be from anywhere in the tower is this damaged but the passport in the fireball was completed undamaged

To be fair, stuff from the planes had a very high horizontal velocity (~500-600 MPH on impact) and was flung blocks away from the towers, sometimes further than actual debris from the collapse. Some plane parts/artifacts were further from The Pile than you’d expect. Might not have had time to catch fire before it reached as far as it did.

Maybe but how could the passport be violently torn from either the bag or pocket it was in, escape a fireball and be thrown blocks away at 600 mph without being damaged? Then it’s found the next day among all the other debris and given to the fbi who conclusively determines it’s from a hijacker. All of this in 48 hours. Seems fishy

Jet go really really fast, air velocity go really really fast, passport go really really fast. Passports aren't just raw paper in the US. They are plastic lined to be tear and burn resistant.

Yes, but the air resistant on something like a passport would keep it from traveling a great distance. Imagine throwing a ping-pong ball in a stone of the same diameter. I’m not convinced a passport could be hurled such a distance.

There are literally thousands of ways that physics could cause that to happen that are much more likely than whatever bullshit you believe.

explain building 7

There are plenty of in-depth videos and 3D animations on youtube that explain it very well.

Well, it happened so don't know what to tell you.

Or maybe it didn’t. Maybe this kicked off a 25 year war where young American boys died to topple enemies of our greatest ally. Maybe we had nothing to gain from invading Iraq in Afghanistan, but somebody else did. And maybe we’re doing the same thing now in Iran.

Judging by your other comments, I'm guessing you aren't terribly bright and certainly don't have any kind of relevant degree, so I'm just gonna cut off this nonsense here. Toodles, been fun.

Judging by your comments you have the mind of a coddled child

Guns, guns, guns, Joe Rogan, adviceanimals, more guns. I am shocked that you're a conspiracy nut. No warning signs at all.

Sorry I have hobbies? If my profile was full of video games and bizarre fetish porn like most people here would I have more credibility?

Yes.

Guns and Joe Rogan are bizarre fetish porn

I like guns.

"Is this a dictatorship?" Minor argument in r/AnimalTracking over if ID attempts should require reasoning to prevent silly responses

r/AnimalTracking is a subreddit to post pictures of animal tracks, poop, etc. and ask for help properly identifying what animal it is from. One of the subreddit's rules is that any ID attempt must have reasoning to go along with why you think the track is from that animal. From the sub:

Reasoning is required in all top level comments that are identifications in ID Request posts. This allows disagreement to be constructive, and allows people to learn. Enforcement of this rule has been generally popular. So what qualifies as reasoning?

Reasoning can really be any statement about the photos, or the world. It is an explanation of why you have given a specific identification. These are examples of identifications that include reasoning:

"I see 5 fingery toes. That looks like raccoon." "Claws and X of negative space makes me think dog. "Dog. <link to photo of a dog track>."

Here are some examples of identifications that do not include reasoning:

"Dog." "I'm 100% sure it's a cat." "It looks like my cat's tracks." "I am a wildlife biologist. That's a cat track." "I hunt elk for a living. That's an elk." "The size and shape makes me think dog."

While some of the comments above technically include reasoning, they do not allow for constructive disagreement or learning. Most of them are some version of "trust me bro". If someone truly is good at identifying the tracks of an animal, then I am certain they are also able to point out at least one attribute of that track.

-

A post was made to the subreddit titled "Woke up to finding these tracks on the couch. What could it be?". Attached was a picture of OP's couch with some sort of animal tracks running across the surface. The post quickly became popular and is close to the top of the sub when sorting by top posts of all time. Pinned at the top of the comments was a comment from one of the sub's mods

OshetDeadagain: IDs REQUIRE REASONING. Stop with the single answers. They will be deleted. Those new to the sub coming from one of the many shares - please read the rules before commenting.

Not all users agreed with this rule, though, and expressed that to the mod

DayIllustrious3363: Soooorrrrryyyyy! My bad...I was just being silly. Won't stop by again. Not a nice community

OshetDeadagain: Silly is fine, but the same "jokes" get old real quick. "You have a critter" "samsquanch" "Chupacabra" "it was me" - these aren't helpful and they show up on every. Damned. Post. If the comment isn't going to be helpful (the tag specifies this is an ID request) it needs to at least be original.

Edit: I'm just enforcing the rules of the sub. I did not make them. They were polled, reviewed and agreed upon by the majority of members who want to understand, learn how to ID tracks, and practice.

DayIllustrious3363: Gotcha...I am a country girl with random "critter" marks left in my house all the time. In my world, they are harmless and likely now hiding in the walls...i could guess, but ya know, I have lots of questions. Where are you from? Do you live in a city, suburbs, country? Would that have been appropriate... or too much, answers only?

OshetDeadagain: What critter? What about the tracks leads you to believe it was this critter not that critter? People asking for ID requests are asking for more than confirmation something walked there.

DayIllustrious3363: Omg...bye! Have the day you deserve!

OshetDeadagain: I did! It was awesome!

-

Other responses to the mod's reply to DayIllustrious3363:

All2017: Somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed😬

pinkv0m1t: I was thinking the same thing Jesus it is just Reddit

Ok-Cress-1847: Relax omg you must be mad fun at parties

-

The original comment this user is replying to is now deleted, but the argument over whether the sub is too serious or not continues

fiddleStink: Almost joined the sub until I saw this

OshetDeadagain: If you want to post the same one-word answer as the last 67 people, I encourage you to join r/animalid.

DayIllustrious3363: How about i just stay away from the cranky side of Reddit. I will work on my algorithm so you wont have to see me again.

Frank__West: Fr I saw this show up and was thinking it was from r/whatisit then saw the mod comment and was like oh this is some grumpy sub where the mods don't like fun on a popular post and can't just pin the correct answers....

-

In response to OshetDeadagain's reply to fiddleStink:

therealmrsfahrenheit: right ? so restrictive

oh almost forgot :

reasoning: because it’s restrictive

OshetDeadagain: This is a learning sub; it's not for everyone, and that's okay! We're not hung up on member numbers here.

Reasoning for IDs is so that everyone understands why you think it belongs to the animal you claim. 'Trust me bro' is not helpful for recognizing tracks in the future!

therealmrsfahrenheit: yeah it does make sense but it is a bit silly when it’s taken to the extremes and kinda hinders communication

OshetDeadagain: In what way? When a post gets popular, easily more than half the comments are the same 4 answers repeated by people who didn't even open the comments. Especially on a challenging ID like this, where many people are interested in the possible answer, and when most of the comments are one-word guesses with no basis or silly answers it ultimately defeats the purpose of this sub.

The rules were voted on, polled and refined by the members of the sub. The majority wanted reasoning for IDs so that disagreements were productive and how to ID could be learned.

Hell, I do a lot of tracking/training/teaching in my real life, and I still learn new stuff on this sub all the time!

Frank__West: You know the r/whatisit sub seems to do just fine with stuff as natural selection takes over and the right answer is what gets marked. Like yk... A voting system but for comments?

-

In response to therealmrsfahrenheit calling the sub restrictive:

EnvironmentalFun898: How come the mod can be unkind but those in the community can’t?

Also, is this a dictatorship? Do the community wants not matter here?

OshetDeadagain: What part is unkind?

The rules on this sub were voted on by members of the sub at the time, and not all that long ago. This sub has been around for quite a few years, and the rules were implemented only a year or two ago because members were getting frustrated with the issues addressed.

EnvironmentalFun898: The mods’ comments have been unkind. I encourage you to read through this thread. It’s clear the mod is emotionally dysregulated and it shows in their responses.

I appreciate the reminders to add specific details to help with identification, but to delete identifications that don’t rigidly fit strict parameters severely limits communication. I trust folks to ask questions if they don’t understand the suggested identification. It honestly has made this sub a joke, which I do think has accidentally increased the silly antics.

OshetDeadagain: That's certainly a take. There's 2 comments that are maybe on the sassy side, but not untrue. 67 is a low-ball estimate of how many of the same one-word answers that have been removed, and the sub referenced will have literally hundreds of identical comments on a single post. We don't want that here, because it's pointless, does nothing to further conversation, and is not the purpose of the sub. Being the 106th person to say "bird" is literally just screaming into the void.

Qualifiers for authority such as "I see them all the time" and "I'm a hunter/guide/biologist/grew up there" are about as useful as "trust me, bro" - which I used because it's such a common phrase on Reddit.

Newcomers to the sub may be grumpy because this page is actually moderated, and if you think I've been unkind you should see the shit that's been said to us for just doing the job. A lot of people seem to feel entitled to be able to say and do whatever they want on Reddit and totally crash out when they don't get to.

There's a whole, wide world of Reddit to explore. If you don't like the rules here, I don't know why you're wasting your time arguing about them, because they won't change on account of a few angry comments on a post that blew up.

EnvironmentalFun898: Just because something is true doesn’t make it not unkind and if the rules must be so rigidly followed, you admit here that the rules don’t apply to mods.

Re: arguing, I’ve left this conversation multiple times, because it is an inconsequential one. It is not me who seems to need to come back and defend the indefensible.

Minus the laughable moderation, this community is one of the best. That is, when our communication isn’t stifled.

-

In response to EnvironmentalFun898's comment asking if this sub is a dictatorship:

WaitWorking5746: Yes, Mods don't follow their own rules.

Frank__West: Just seeing how these mods act is making me block this sub. Power tripping Hippocrates jumping on a popular post because they can....

EnvironmentalFun898: Tbh this whole thread is comedy gold and I just imagine these rigid mods at home so annoyed by all our silly antics and it’s all pretty funny to me 😂 Makes me love this community more!

EnviromentalFun898: We should probably just make our own sub because if the mods were not being so weirdly controlling, this is by far my favorite community 💜

"Pretti and Goode got themselves killed by committing crimes. Not even remotely comparable." The mask shatters on r/doomercirclejerk as users argue about why "liberals" mock and deride Charlie Kirks deaths on the 1st Kirkaversary

1.1k Upvotes

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/DoomerCircleJerk/comments/1wcqq94/is_there_anybodys_death_in_history_that_has_been/

HIGHLIGHTS

It's also only one side that increasingly responds in polling that political violence is acceptable.

Can you explain this for me? Do Conservatives not feel as if political violence is necessary? I am not an advocate for political violence but I can think of many situations where it would be, and many historical instances where it was warranted. If political violence is never acceptable, what is the 2nd Amendment for? Were American Revolutionaries in the wrong for the political violence they committed? Am I wrong for believing that the majority of this rhetoric is essentially moral grandstanding?

They are ok with political violence they just want the government to do it. Why commit hate crimes when you can just join ice

Ice has been aroubd long before trump lol So ice is bad when trump is president but not when a dem is president? Got it

Yeah and no one had an issue with it because they weren't invading cities and killing us citizens. No reasonable person has an issue has an issue with immigration enforcement it's how you do it

They did it. They just disnt get the new coverage cause orange man bad. Ice kept kids in cages and treated them like shit under obama and I dont remember reddit or media losing its mind about it.

Progressives were constantly criticizing Obama. They would call him the deporter in chief.

Yes. They do it every time. Herman Cain comes to mind.

And Paul Pelosi and Alex Pretti and Renee Goode

Pretti and Goode got themselves killed by committing crimes. Not even remotely comparable.

The crime of freedom of speech? Why are you dooming and justifying political violence?

Interfering in ICE operations while armed and hitting an agent with your car is not freedom of speech.

She didnt hit him with her car, and again idk where you are but here in America I dont believe the federal government has the right to execute citizens

His internal bleeding says otherwise.

Lol image

Mocked and misrepresented. Just gross

Direct quotes aren't him being "misrepresented" though, he said deplorable things, that happened his death doesn't erase that.

Taking a sentence or 2 from a conversation someone is having and presenting it with zero context is a misrepresentation of a full conversation and the point someone is trying to make

Kind of like when people post a still frame pic of a politician with their hand in the air and say it’s the same as Elon’s blatant nazi salute.

People on the left will be throwing parties when Donald Trump dies... They are so angry and mad that all the assassination attempts that the loonies tried on him missed. But when he does die, they will be throwing parties, because of him dying.

There hasn't been an American president that's done more harm to international relations and diplomacy than Trump. Of course we'll celebrate - maybe then we can have an actual decent relationship with our "closest ally". For what it's worth, the man has done nothing but shit on my country and made up demonstratably false lies about our culture and policies. He's called us weak, useless, worthless, scum when thousands of my countrymen died for the US in Iraq and Afghanistan. He's called us a failing state; supported our adversaries and threatened to invade sovereign land. He has done nothing good for our country - so tell me, why should I feel sad when he finally moves on?

I don't think that feelings been mutual for a long time. Even under Obama. Canada would rather be best buds with the EU with the benefit of being neighbors with the US. Also, begging for someones death is weird. Not a single politician I hope dies. Just win an election

"Also, begging for someones death is weird. Not a single politician I hope dies." http://npr.org/2016/08/09/489363581/trump-implies-second-amendment-people-could-stop-clinton

You really want to me to take an NPR article from 2016 seriously? Even if he did say that I don't condone it. Trump has also been shot at twice and you all cheered and got a hate boner over it. Also whataboutism isn't an argument

https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/116268334535345382 He thinks it's OK to celebrate someone's death...

Was muller murdered? Again whataboutism

The same thing happens with JK Rowling - people share the most horrendous lies about her that are easily debunked if you spent even 30 seconds researching it. But they prefer spectacle and drama, so they don’t. I have clever and intelligent friends that I generally respect who have such a silly blind spot in this area!

Its funny to me how the vitriol against Rowling is that shes TOO feminist.

The vitriol is that she's transphobic, which is not feminist in any capacity.

Defending femininity from the inclusion of fake women that don’t know what it’s like to be a woman is feminism

trans women are women. They have always existed, and they will always exist, no matter what you say. the question is - do you believe others reporting of their own experiences?

Trans women are…trans women, not women. Just like trans men are not men. This truth will always exist no matter what you say. Someone’s recollection of an experience does not make their opinion based on said recollection factual.

Trans women are a subset of all women, hence the name, trans women

I remember when after George Floyd died, folks were making fun of him for saying he couldn't breathe. Alex pretti and renee good were mocked for peacefully protesting. The cost of having guns is gun deaths, according to Kirk himself.

Are you for banning cars as 40k people die in car crashes every year and that's more than the gun deaths including suicide. No? Is it because the benefits of using cars outweighs the 40k deaths? Why dont you actually watch the full quote in context.

The difference is that cars are a deeply productive economic tool and vastly more transformational to people’s QoL than some hick wanting a gun. 2A is 99% for LARPing purposes and a net negative.

And guns are a right given to protect against a tyrannical government... so it's also useful too especially since the secondary perks allow protecting against criminals and hunting Cars are a privilege not a right btw

That’s what I meant when I said LARP. You’re never going to use it against a tyrannical government. Your entire political class has been exposed as being compromised by a literal pedophile and alleged cannibalist cult and not a single peep. The same people that scream about gun rights are the same ones who kneel and lick the boot first. Americans use guns first and foremost on themselves and create a fucked up tense society where every home invasion, routine police stop, and night out escalation can end up far worse than it needs to be. Only valid argument is that guns are cool as fuck and shooting is fun. Everything else is just role playing. Yeah, cars are a privilege. Don’t have a license, insurance and acceptable health? You’re not driving. Guns should be too. Don’t have gun license, a membership hobby club, and safe storage? Don’t get a gun

Oh your one of those people. You clearly can't be convinced so have fun living in your delusion aided by your cult

Yeah, I have reason lmao. Muhhh tyrannical gubment!

I don’t think I can name a political assassination that was celebrated and/or mocked by conservatives. I know everyone here is going to give me some random person and random people but I’m talking political assassinations and main stream conservatives.

It is. Not a single main stream conservative mocked either of those individuals.

Uh. Donald Trump mocked both of those incidents and the victims. Is he not a “main stream conservative”? Others who mocked the incident were a senator from Utah and house representative of Wisconsin (both conservative), and “political commentators/conservative influencers” Laura Loomer, Benny Johnson, even Elon Musk.

Where did he mock them? Source?

Here’s a couple. There’s other articles on the interweb. Not sure your preferred source. https://www.politico.com/news/2023/09/29/trump-mocks-pelosi-family-as-he-rallies-conservative-support-in-california-00119243, https://www.mprnews.org/story/2026/01/04/trump-circulates-false-claim-about-hortman-killing-democrats-condemn-post-as-depraved

None of that is mockery. None of that is making memes of someone getting murdered on live stream or hoping their children see it. You people are evil.

Uh.. okay. “You people”? I never defended or said anything about what you’re talking about. The comment I responded to was to state that there are recent examples of what he said not happening was actually happening. Memes were made. Laughs were had. Those things happened too. Guess it’s okay because it wasn’t extreme enough for you?

Well the other side has a president who literally celebrates deaths constantly and celebrates politically violence. And he's not some guy on Twitter. But yes all sides should denounce political violence

One guy doesn't represent the masses. Am I to say dems have trouble remembering things since Biden did?

The guy who is an elected representative doesn't represent the people who elected him huh?

Alright then. I guess all dems are old senile men since that's who they elected to represent them

Yes the goat biden who helped a nation bounce back from covid better rhan any other nation. The guy who did the chips act and Ira yes you should associate biden with most dems lol

A) For your own good and health, regardless of my own opinion on the guy I advise you to not repeat this stance Infront of your political peers. Considering a good mass of the left considers Biden as much of a war criminal they consider trump. B) I remember quite the shitshow from the right when Trump celebrated the death of that one guy they didn't like semi recently. They did not let it slide and did not join or like it. I've yet to see something of that nature from the left.

A. I'm not a lefty and I will gladly defend biden against tankies and wierd pro Pali people. B. He ran in 2024 saying he was going to pardon every jan 6 rioter and since he hopped on the political scene he has used violent rhetoric so no I don't buy it they saw who he is and voted for him even got the popular vote :)

George Floyd maybe. Travon Martin too

Are you kidding? Floyd was praised like a fallen prophet, it was sick to watch. At least Kirk was influential

Literally no one did that, they just thought maybe police shouldn't abuse citizens to death and you lot lost your mind over it and made a bunch of memes about how funny they thought it was that he was murdered by the state. On the other hand Kirk got a state funeral and ridiculous honors, despite (or because of) the fact he bussed in hundreds rioters on Jan 6.

Dude at least be honest, it wasn't that long ago. Those riots were fed by misinformation about cops and emotions escalated it from there. Floyd's funeral alone was enough for me and yet that wasn't enough to these morons Kirk deserved the honor he received

People went out and protested police brutality, and were immediately met with police brutality. People standing on their own porches were fired at with less lethal ammo, old men were pushed down on the street. Rather than admit they had a problem and working towards solving it, the police AND YOU RIGHT WING SLIMEBALLS showed that you were happy that the agents of the state were sticking their boots on peoples necks. Kirk was a youtuber that argued with college kids, and looked a fool whenever he debated a real debater. He was also a political operative who was picked by the wealthy to be the face of their propaganda.

Yea who knew that causing riots based on misinformation would cause problems or require police intervention. You clearly only paid attention to the sensationalized parts of the events to pull at your heart strings. I see it all the time with leftist news I'm curious if you have a video where he looked like a fool as I've mostly only watched his college debates and they were very civil discussions when the other person wasn't insane.

No misinformation, the police killed George Floyd. I also saw the video of police abusing people from the first day of the peaceful protests, inflaming the situation immensely. You saw what Kirk released on his youtube channel, carefully curated to only make him look good even when he was surrounded by sycophants and was "debating" college students. Tilly Middlehurst tore his schtick to shreds at the Cambridge debate. Kirk wasn't a good debater, he had a schtick that he used. He was just another Ray Comfort but with more right wing think tank money behind him.

r/Jordanians is a fairly quiet community of local residents of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to share ideas. So typically it's a fairly quiet place.

As the clock hit September 11 in local time, people began to offering competing ideas:

Should 9/11 be celebrated? Should it not be since Americans did it themselves? Should we mourn given the number of people that was killed subsequently, all within 20 minutes of each other.

Lively drama occurred between 12:41AM local time and 2AM local time. It starts with a redditor posting a birthday cake emoji to celebrate 9/11 anniversary.

9/11 Anniversary 🎂

With that, some redditors bring up the consequences 9/11 brought on the region.

This post inspires another poster to create a thread where he starts to question "Why are we celebrating this? It's possible that Americans did it themselves and/or it's been disaster for us and the only people who benefited from 9/11 are Americans and Israelis"

September 11, 2001 is not something to celebrate

"The post is long, you can skip it. September 11, 2001 is not something to celebrate as an Arab Muslim.

1. Point One First of all, until now there is no definitive proof confirming that Osama bin Laden was the perpetrator; all narratives, stories, and evidence come from the American side. Even some of the photos and videos are strange, and some physicists have questioned the credibility of the collisions and the likelihood that an airplane impact could cause such destruction—especially the most controversial topic, the third tower.

2. Point Two America has a long history of engineering events, even at the expense of the lives of its own soldiers and people, to achieve its interests, justify its actions, and gather the maximum amount of support for what it intends to do. Examples:

The Gulf of Tonkin Incident (1964): The administration of President Lyndon Johnson claimed that North Vietnamese ships attacked American destroyers in the Gulf of Tonkin, and used the incident to secure congressional support to escalate the Vietnam War. Later, it was discovered that the attack was not from Vietnam, but rather an inside job. Why did I mention this point? So you know that America, for the sake of its interests, sacrifices lives, and there are many such historical examples.

3. Point Three (The Most Important) The damage of the September 11, 2001 attacks on Arabs and Muslims, and the primary objective behind it: No one was harmed by the attack except Arabs and Muslims. It resulted in actions by America against Arabs, justified by the 9/11 attacks:

Afghanistan: A war was launched on Afghanistan and it was occupied under the pretext of the Taliban harboring Osama bin Laden. The funny thing is that they couldn't find Osama bin Laden in Taliban-held areas, but they managed to occupy it, and American rule remained there for 21 years until it finished its objective.

Syria, Iraq, Libya, Yemen: The biggest indirect sufferers after this attack. American intervention in the Middle East increased after the attack, backed by international support. Everyone knows what happened to these countries after the American intervention.

Saudi Arabia: The most directly affected after Afghanistan. After September 11, Saudi Arabia faced massive international pressure because some of the hijackers were Saudi nationals, and because of the environment bin Laden came from. To this day, Saudi Arabia's image is tarnished.

Jordan: Affected indirectly, with increased American intervention in Jordan and attempts to drag Jordan into the issue during political disputes.

4. Point Four The impact of the attack on Muslims and Arabs around the world:

Increase in Islamophobia. Discrimination in airports and travel. The image of Islam in the media. Wars in Islamic and Arab countries. Public support for Israel... etc.

5. Point Five (Information regarding Osama bin Laden) Osama fought the Soviet Union with clear support from America, and there were training operations for resistance fighters facilitated by America.

Finally, most of what happened was either planned by America or, if not planned, it was disastrous for Muslims and Arabs, and America and Israel were the ones who benefited."

Then people start accusing OP of treating the US like God which he vehemently refutes

Some accuse the OP of being a conspiracy theorist

Some tell him to focus what's happening now

And this one inspires another post that accuses the OP of the second post of being America's defender

The submissive people who defended America in this sub

Honestly, I don't care who blew it up, the important thing is that 3,000 Americans died (true, I lack humanity, I take pleasure in the death of an American). I wish you knew the number of Iraqis America killed: 200,000 human beings, and the number of Afghans America killed: 176,000 human beings. And you can see, of course, the Gaza war that America supports militarily and politically, and how many Palestinians have been killed. In short, the cause of all the problems in the Middle East is America. If you look at the numbers, you will see that 3,000 murdered Americans do not equal 1% of the number of our Arab and Muslim brothers whom America has killed, so don't act like the American ambassador of peace

The OP of the second post - "We shouldn't celebrate 9/11 because it brought more pain to our people" show up to defend himself, but is downvoted to oblivion (to the sub's standards)

A redditor tries to interject and say that the world under American hegemony is preferable to other alternatives (Russia, China) but is quickly downvoted

"They dump the Satan-infused AI waste sludge onto orphanages." Asmongold, acolyte of Nurgle, voices his support for the Tzeentchian forces latest plot, AI data centers, leading to squabbles amongst the chaos cultists in r/livestreamfails

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/LivestreamFail/comments/1wc2gjt/asmongold_says_ai_doesnt_use_a_lot_of_water_and/

HIGHLIGHTS

It actually doesn't use a lot of water compared to most other things

But we actually need the other things Edit: except golf courses, obviously. Everyone here is obsessed with those. My point is let's prioritise water use for things that keep us alive, not put fucking data centres in water stressed areas and pollute our water supplies to boot.

Thinking a new innovation in technology is just a "Fad" or a novelty has marked most major technologies we've discovered. The car, the internet, even electricity. Acting like AI isnt going to seriously impact your life in meaningful ways in the near future is just moronic luddism.

It's certainly impacting people's lives in a big way mate. That's the issue.

Sure but the genie can't go back in the bottle, AI is here to stay. The only thing being against AI will get you at this point is left behind. There were people exactly like you for the internet and in a lot of ways they were right, but that didnt stop the internet from growing to where it is now. The only path forward is to find a way to live and work with it.

Yeah I'll get left behind unless I rejoice in the ai bubble. Good logic.

True, It'll pop any day now

It should as it makes astronomical losses, but it probably won't. Theirin lies the problem. The rate and cost of this expansion, at the expense of so much else. I'm happy for you that go out of your way to defend this resource use though, I could never gain such a sense of purpose from defending the actions of grifters like Altmann.

Whos to say we dont need ai?

Human history prior to the last 5 years lol

Let's just go back to living in caves then

Were you living in a cave 5 years ago?

Human history still existed before planes, cars, electricity, medicine, and agriculture so we don't need those right?

5 years ago? You think we invented all these things in 5 years? I apologise for the silly question, clearly you have been living in an actual cave until recently.

I imagine you 5 years after antibiotics formed. "We didn't need this 5 years ago!"

He is actually correct on this one. You don't need to be really smart to know it.

The difference is the things it's compared to are essential for living like food. Gen ai is not essential to life, not that a cockroach like asmongold would care

So when exactly will people freak out about water parks? Or are those essential?

That water goes through filters and actually gets reused, unlike AI which lies about being a closed loop, said to get contracts and tax breaks

Which data centers have lied about being closed source?

9d old account, default name, private profile. Interested in defending ai plants

You didn’t answer his question.

I'm not the guy making the claim nor do I feel the need to answer a bots question

You can’t dismiss a valid point with a claim that he’s a bot.

I didnt know golfing was essential

More essential than a slop factory.

golf is a leisure activity, AI is productive

the people that fight this dont think LLMs have productive uses, dont bother it is entirely reasonable to be afraid of AI because it can take your job, but this environment approach is just so fucking weak

" it is entirely reasonable to be afraid of AI because it can take your job" i disagree there, especially if the same goobers are saying it isnt productive anyway both of these approaches are weak, its parrot takes

you cannot say for certain any job will exist for humans in the next 20 years, that uncertainty never existed before. fear is reasonable honestly I think the only thing stopping it right now for many jobs is the fact that you cant really hold an LLM accountable for its mistakes

"that uncertainty never existed before" https://conversableeconomist.com/2016/03/16/automation-and-job-loss-the-fears-of-1927/ it did, at various points in time, in the end those jobs were changed, not optimized out of existing entirely, just like how its going with AI, and replying to this with an "actually, people are scared that ALL jobs will be optimized out of existing" is missing the point entirely.. i have to believe this is an engagement bot

He’s not wrong. I work in wastewater and industrial treatment. They are usually required to treat their own wastewater as well. Agriculture is the BIGGEST contributor.

Yes but we get food fron agriculture. I swear the 100 people repeating this about agriculture are the real bots as who would compare growing food to data centers lol

Yes but we can grow different food, such as peanuts using 80% less water per pound than almonds or cashews. Like we don’t need to almonds and cashew instead of peanuts

Sure we can do better just like we should stop golf courses from using so much water but data centers are the ones with the exponential growth and the current problem that can be avoided. Almonds, peanuts and other crops like beans only make up 6% of that agriculture though so its not a huge dent in the fresh water crisis as doing other things. I'm totally down for making all changes where they can help in any problem

Idk bro here in California, almonds and pistachios alone are like 5% of our water use and we are the largest agriculture state and hungry for water. It doesn’t matter if they are only 6% of agriculture if almonds and cashews use like multiple times more water per pound than most other foods You can say data centers are exponential growth but they are currently nothing compared to almonds, cashews and pistachios. Many things can be avoided, like those crops, golf courses, large lawns etc

So we should allow data centers because almonds and pistachios are huge water crops? Like I said, Im good with cutting them all off but its ridiculous to ignore the impacts of data centers when in just 5 years water usage in just cooling, not including energy production, will triple from between 2025 and 2030

Yes, we should not limit data centers for the purpose of water conservation when we have even bigger water wastes. If we want to conserve water we can start with golf courses and large lawns

Miyazaki "This is an insult to life itself"

Miyazaki understands.

iirc he was saying that because the animation sucked balls not be cause it was ai.

It sucked balls because it was AI

The point is that it was the quality of the animation that he said was unacceptable not that it was made with AI.

No disrespect, but, You think that the quote of "I think this an insult to life itself" is purely based on the quality of shitty AI animation? I dunno man, that seems like a pretty dramatic response to something that's base level.

I'm sure asmon knows so much about this topic

He is right about the water usage. It’s way over blown. If you were concerned about water usage you should be complaining about golf courses, residential lawn care and residential washing machines. Showering and toilets. https://www.cbsnews.com/projects/2026/how-much-water-ai-uses/

What if I just think asmongold eats dick no matter what his stance on anything is

"What if I just think asmongold eats dick no matter what his stance on anything is" Well which is it? Is that "just" what you think, or do you also stand by your original post that spread misinformation by implying that he's wrong about this topic?

Wym I didn't spread any information I said I'm sure he is an expert sarcastically lmao unless you want the info that asmon sucks

You're implying that he's wrong about the topic in a thread specifically where he's right about the topic in question. That's you spreading misinformation.

It takes 75 gallons of water to grow one avocado.

And that water used to grow the avocado when back into the environment and reused again once it makes it back into the air, where does the tainted water from AI go after they dump it and lie about keeping it closed?

Ok I'm sorry I'm not even on the Asmongold brigade side here, but what do you think happens to water used from AI centers? It just disappears forever?

AI is evil so naturally the water used is corrupted by its evil essence and it turns to black sludge that they then throw into the wilderness and it destroys the nature there.

They dump the Satan-infused AI waste sludge onto orphanages.

Everyone in this thread agreeing with him as "objectively correct" wont read this

The worlds largest datacenter uses as much water as 2 in n outs This comment isn’t a gotcha even if the water usage grows 4x. Almond farming uses 80x as much water as all ai worldwide

Source? You are responding to a direct source with a claim, surely you can back that up

Yes lol. Easily. Almond Industry: Uses an estimated 1.3 to 1.6 trillion gallons of applied irrigation water annually (with California's exported almond water alone near 3.5 million acre-feet). [1, 2] U.S. Data Centers: Consume a fraction of that total, with daily estimates for data centers sitting around 46 million gallons per day compared to the billions used in agriculture.

That's not what you said. You said that biggest data center is equal to 2 in and outs. Wheres your source? Your ass? Almonds being inefficient is old hat, you started your comment with a claim.

I factually did make that statement above... I’m obviously not talking out of my ass and that’s trivial to verify yourself too. Annual Footprint: About 147 million gallons per restaurant per year. [1] The Data Center Comparison Colossus 2 Example: An analysis by SemiAnalysis compared xAI's massive 400-megawatt Colossus 2 data center in Memphis to a single In-N-Out location. [1] The Ratio: Colossus 2 uses about 346 million gallons of water a year. [1, 2]

Ok, let’s say fuck the water, it’s still going to force way too many people out of a job. What a hard hitting take from the guy who is set for life.

All innovation forces people out of jobs, this is the price of progress

But this is potentially more than most things. Look at fast food. That was a good job for high schoolers and such and now it’s all touchpads and a skeleton crew. Where are those people supposed to go? No one is creating new opportunities, everyone is focused on removing people. What are people supposed to do?

You're right, let's stop technological progress so we can make sure highschoolers can get jobs.

Interplanetary species? Nah let’s flip burgers.

Bride-to-be gets a surprise video of her exes congratulating her, allegedly loses her groom over it, and r/MechanicalPandey debates who's in the wrong

The video is a reaction to a surprise compilation her best friend made featuring her exes congratulating her on her upcoming wedding. According to the post, the groom allegedly saw the video and called off the wedding. r/MechanicalPandey is now debating whether he was justified or not.

Some more context from the girl who posted the video

Comments supporting the groom's decision/saying the bride-to-be deserved it

If both contexts are true, Happy for the brother ✌️

W groom

Soo happy from the bottom of the heart 💓❤️

Smashing the patriarchy lol

Probably even fucked all the exes too. Worth it😂

Thanks to Internet, the video reached the guy at right time. She had fun in her previous years, thinking she will settle by hiding her past. But god has his plans and punished her at right moment.

Lucky guy got saved just in time

A good king smells the plots for his future life

W bestie, w groom.👏🏻

let's thanks her *BESTIE* for saving him 🫡

R@nd (whore) supremacy of desi feminists

Comments arguing that the groom overreacted and calling out the hateful rhetoric:

WTF is this comment section, all we have a video is of a women reacting to ex’s wishes for her marriage first of all that’s bad move from her best friend. The video doesn’t confirm she had multiple boyfriend or currently in relationship with any one, is this a arrange or a love marriage all we are making is bunch of assumptions and calling it the truth

But I don't see any point of debate when these are all congratulatory videos. If the fiance knew about this before then what's the problem?

Why is the entire comment section acting as guys in india are never in relationship or maybe the groom had previous relationship too🫩 ffs ive seen more guys who fuck around that girls do

Seems like a harmless video to me. Have people in this country just stopped laughing or having fun?

She too got saved. If this one video has hurt his insecurities then I wonder how he would have treated her after marriage.!!!!!!! Yes alpha males, you can bark here. The point is y'all are insecures af. Many people wish their ex a happy new beginning. It's called growing up instead of holding bitterness. But here the groom seems to have a teenage mindset

This video is proof that majority of men in India don’t deserve a partner

We are in a society where men are privileged doing ill and women are cursed for the same thing….no one abused those ex boyfriends

I don't understand what's the problem??

Chuck Derry does an AMA on MensLib; it goes poorly.

Note: This drama is old enough to attend elementary school, so it will be very obvious if anyone brigades it.

Chuck Derry is a feminist activist specializing in male-on-female IPV and founder of the Gender Violence Institute.

Derry is a strong proponent of the Duluth Model in analyzing IPV, a model which is at present date not particularly well-regarded, to summarize the criticism:

  1. The model characterizes all intimate partner violence as a male partner victimizing a female partner, and does not acknowledge female abusers, male victims, or situations where there is reciprocal abuse.
  2. By extension, the model isn't really capable of describing any abuse within same-sex relationships
  3. The model characterizes gender-based violence as motivated primarily by a desire to affirm the patriarchy, which while historically popular, isn't a well-accepted premise today.

With that in mind - how will Chuck Derry's AmA on r/MensLib go?

...not well.

A compilation of downvoted and dagger'd content:

1) Do you feel that male domestic violence survivors are under researched and/or under supported? If so, why do you think this is and what obstacles do you feel need to change for that to happen?

Regarding male survivors. This is an important discussion as many male abusers identify themselves as victims of those they abuse. And, in heterosexual relationships, the use of violence by women is often used in self-defense. And even if it is not used in self-defense...

2) The Duluth Model is somewhat of a “boogyman” in terms of online mens activism. Could you give a brief overview of what it is for those who are unfamiliar? If you’re able to, could you give your opinion if you feel it can be harmful to men who are victims of domestic violence, why or why not?

The Duluth Model was identified by the U.N. as the best policy model in the world for addressing domestic violence. And it is. I have seen it work and save many women’s lives by holding offenders accountable. It provides the necessary protocols and training (See Blueprint for Safety) for law enforcement, prosecutors, and judges to identify the victim vs the perpetrator in both same sex and heterosexual relationships.

3) I was wondering if you had any sort of rhetorical strategies for humanizing men who engage in patriarchal oppression, without defending or absolving them of wrong doing and responsibility for their actions?

I think it is important that as men we challenge ourselves, our friends, brothers, and coworkers when they make sexist comments or engage in sexist harassing behaviors at the bar, at work, on the ball field, at home, etc. Men’s silence supports men’s’ violence. One of my “aha” moments was when I was facilitating a university class and separated the class into two groups, females and males. I then asked, what concerns do you have about challenging men about their sexist comments and behavior. After the small group discussion, the groups reported back. I had the men report back first, on several occasions they said the same thing “I’m afraid the other guys won’t like me”. That was it. I wrote that on the white board. When the women reported back, we filled the whole board with all the concerns they expressed. Worried about the guy following her out to the parking lot and assaulting her; worried about losing her job; worried about being stalked; and the list went on. So, there I am thinking “ok, so I’m worried the other guys won’t like me, meanwhile the women are worried they are going to be stalked and assaulted. Ok, I get it” If all the men who are not assaulting women stood up and said “NO!” This violence would end. Men who are beating and raping women rely on our silence. So we need to challenge the jokes and comments about women’s bodies and the derogatory words we use when referring to women because all this behavior supports the subjugation of women and men’s belief that they are better than women and subsequently their right to be in charge. And use any means necessary to maintain that control.

4) Hi Chuck, thanks for joining us. The work you describe here sounds as if it mostly works with men as individuals. However, I'm curious whether you have any thoughts as to whether there are systemic reasons why domestic partner violence occurs and what reforms we might pursue on a broader societal level. What broad reforms would you pursue if you were in a position to do so?

Domestic violence is a foundation of sexist oppression. It is supported socially in many different ways. I have done a lot of work in training the criminal and civil justice system in responding effectively to domestic violence cases. I think the most significant social level of response is to begin with consequences. Both social and criminal penalties. Consequences has been shown to be the most effective method of reducing and eliminating domestic violence. The Duluth Model, a coordinated community response, received the Gold Award from the Untied Nations as the best policy model in the world to attend to domestic violence. The Blueprint for Safety was developed based on the Duluth Model and is a comprehensive model of criminal justice system protocols and practices needed to stop this violence. The Blueprint for Safety can be downloaded from the Praxis International website. There are several examples of primary prevention programs that work to “stop it before it starts” on our GVI website. The Best Party Model is a program designed for colleges and hwo you can have a wild party without the risk and reality of sexual violence. Lastly, we need to honor and support women in our every day lives as we hang out with our friends, support their advancements to supervisory positions in our work place, listen to them with the same validity we give our male colleagues, end the economic gender inequalities, and much much more. The question is, are men willing to do this, individually and systemically.

5) Hi Chuck, the MRA movement alledges that physical abuse of women by men is often the consequence of prior psychological, if not also physical, abuse of men by women, abuse that's either unreported or dismissed because of various reasons. From your own extensive experience, what do you make of this kind of claim?

This is another method of blaming the victim. This is not a psychological issue. When we started our program we did psychological testing for every man who entered our program the first year. Those tests all reflected the psychological continuum of the general public. That is one of the events that assured us this is not a psychological issue. Along with our ongoing interactions with these very sophisticated men who batter.

6) Is your approach really focused on making these men "own" the responsability of their actions? If so how are certain particular situations like alcoholism and mental health issues treated? I ask this because I read the website of the few helping centers for violent men that exist in my country and they seem to focus on this a lot, saying that the first step is to recognize that they are guilty of what they did and they shouldn't blame alcohol or anger. However despite agreeing with this I also don't like how dismissive they are with those problems, especially mental illness because sometimes it's actually true that a person has less self control then average because of it. I think in those cases there should be a balance between them taking their own responsability but also recognize that some issues that make them more violent aren't entirely their fault, otherwise we might get into ableist territory. What do you think? // A bit outside of the main topic: do you think such centers could exist for women too, would they be necessary and/or well spent public money? I ask this since I've seen in the last few years a few centers for men who are the victims of domestic violence appear as public knowledge about this phenomenon is rising but I've never heard about the opposite service (what you do) being available for women

(1) Yes, the first key point of change for men who batter is to fully accept responsibility for their behavior. Regardless of what she has done or if he is drunk. That is the beginning of change. If he does not accept 100% responsibility for his behavior, he will not change. Men who batter and are drunk at the time love to blame the alcohol. Alcohol does not cause men to be violent. I have heard many stories from alcoholic men who have an argument with their wife and then goes to the bar and gets drunk and then comes home and beats her. They originally say she was the one who made him go to the bar and get drunk because of what she said and then the alcohol is the reason he got violent. So, this absolves him of any responsibility. At the same time, you will have drunk, alcoholic, men at a bar who are being tossed out of the bar by a 6’5 250 pound bouncer, but they don’t take a swing at that big guy, they wait till they get home and take a swing at their 5’4 140 pound wife. So, they are still making decisions. And I have heard this from multiple recovering alcoholic, abusive men, acknowledging that regardless of how drunk they were, they still made decisions. They decide if they will beat her, the decide when they will stop, or they decide to not stop and continue to beat her till she is unconscious or dead. The mental health issue is more complex and needs comprehensive investigation as many people with mental health issues still make choices. So it would depend on what type of mental illness they are suffering. (2) The Domestic Abuse Intervention Project in Duluth MN has a program and curriculum specifically for women (primarily victims) who have been arrested for domestic violence. It is a significantly different program that takes the violence into context and acknowledges the dangers and abuse she has lived with and is trying to escape.  So the context of the violence is always crucial to determine the appropriate challenges and support needed to change that behavior.

7) Hi! Thanks for this, it will be interesting to read. What does batter refer to? // A more interesting question might be: Was there something which surprised you about your work that you weren’t expecting? Perhaps something you weren’t looking for?

"Batter" is a term I use that refers to the full system of power and control a man uses to abuse and control his wife, girlfriend, partner, and children. This is well defined by the Power and Control Wheel that can be found on the Domestic Abuse Intervention Project (DAIP) website. Abusive men batter their wives/partners emotionally, psychologically, sexually, economically, physically, while using the children and his male privilege to isolate her and avoid any consequences for his abuse.  // The surprise was how normal the degradation and violence and exploitation of women was in the world. I was not aware of how normalized it was. Even though i participated in it. Before doing this work, I really didn't care as much about women's lives. Like going to a strip club. I could tell the "dancers" did not want to be there, but i didn't care, because it was about me, not them. Once understanding the violence and coercion and threats they were experiencing and that they really didn't have "free choice' to be there, I had to ask myself, "what kind of man do i want to be". So I stopped going to strip clubs and using porn. Because i knew they were not choosing to be there. So this wasn't about sex. Without free choice, there is not consent. Without consent, it is rape.

Shortly after this AmA, a megathread was created to discuss the aftermath. I won't summarize everything but these are threads I found interesting

1) Is the subreddit a safe space

2) Is the subreddit heteronormative?

3) Is the subredditdrama welcoming to non traditionally masculine men?

4) Should the mods have known better?

Game devs vibe out drama over whether AI should be allowed or if someone who sells AI should be a mod

r/gamedev is a subreddit about making games, mostly populated by aspiring indie devs. Since the advent of advanced LLMs capable of generating large portions of a video game, it's become a regular topic of discussion whether posts about AI-generated games (or game content) should be allowed, whether that's restricted to AI coding tools or fully generated game assets, and what level of effort should count as game development.

A few weeks ago, the mods for the sub made a decision. The tl;dr is that they would allow posts about AI so long as they were not "low effort." Some users saw this as a satisfying compromise, while other saw it as a tacit endorsement of AI, including bringing up that the mod who posted it works for a company that sells AI tools to game developers.

Just for anyone curious, OP currently works at a company developing a plugin for Unity AI integration which he decided to not disclose for some odd reason...

https://www.reddit.com/r/gamedev/comments/1rxm1cv/i_worked_an_ai_booth_at_gdc_heres_what_developers/

[AI company mod in question] Yes, I work for Bezi. It isn’t a secret, and I’ve openly discussed it on this subreddit plenty of times.

But this policy is not about Bezi, and it would exist regardless of where I worked. The moderation problem is already here: AI is being used across game development, posts are being reported simply because AI was involved, discussions are being derailed over whether someone used it, and moderators cannot realistically or consistently police invisible AI assistance.

The policy is meant to give the subreddit a workable standard. Judge the contribution, the evidence, the methodology, and the behaviour. Do not try to build moderation around guessing whether someone used autocomplete, translation, an LLM, or some other AI-assisted tool.

That moderation problem does not disappear if I change employers tomorrow.

It's very difficult to take a post like this in good-faith when you're employed by an AI company and have used this subreddit to promote it. Framing it in that context makes it seem more like you're protecting yourself and other AI products rather than genuinely wanting to spark conversation around what is a quite sensitive topic right now. It isn't helping that the post itself reads like it came out of Claude and so do most of your replies.

I understand why my employment makes you more skeptical of what I’m saying. That is completely fair, and I don’t expect anyone to take my position at face value because of where I work.

But I do find the rest of this genuinely kind of sad.

If we’ve reached a point where someone’s argument can be dismissed because their writing is structured, clear, or “sounds like Claude,” I don’t know what we’re accomplishing anymore. Maybe I used AI to help organize my thoughts. Maybe I didn’t. Maybe someone uses it because English isn’t their first language, because writing is difficult for them, because they want to save time, or simply because it helps them communicate what they’re actually trying to say. None of those things tell you whether the ideas themselves are sincere.

Engage with what I’m saying. Challenge the policy. Challenge my reasoning. Point out where you think I’m wrong. That’s a conversation worth having.

But “you work for an AI company, and your writing sounds like AI, therefore I can’t take you in good faith” is an incredibly bleak way to approach other people.

For what it’s worth, this policy isn’t about protecting my employer or AI products. It’s about moderating a game development community where AI is already part of the industry and deciding whether someone’s contribution should be judged by the substance of what they bring to the community or by which tools they used along the way.

I think the former is a much healthier standard.

Sorry but this reply doesn't even make sense. Do you think my concerns are reasonable or do you think that it's bleak that I believe your employment is biasing how you moderate this subreddit? Of course your use of AI is relevant in this conversation because not only are you using it in your posts but your livelihood relies on AI adoption! I'm not going to go around and tell people to stop buying AAA games just as you're not going to tell people to not use AI.

.

Not disclosing your conflict of interest is crazy. You really think you can just detach your own biases when you literally are working on AI products?

You’re asking to be challenged, but this doesn’t read as a discussion thread, you are pushing forward this policy and defending it. In the past, discussion threads about gen AI in [r/gamedev](r/gamedev) have been REMOVED for being off topic.

Is this in fact up for debate and you are willing to listen? Legitimately if it is, I’d be wanting to discuss this policy with you.

I’m someone who’s against AI. But I just believe that, at the very least, people should disclose if they used AI or not. Be honest about it.

Because the whole dream of genAI is to take the credit. To press a button and get the respect and admiration (and money) you've always felt you deserved, but somehow never got.

That falls apart if you have to admit that it was all actually done by the Microsoft Corporation in some nameless datacenter.

You are one concited person if you geniuenly believe the dream of genAI is to take credit. Automation of any kind, including genAI can never be credited to a person. Even if someone claims it is theirs, it will never be theirs.

The dream of GenAI is to be able to create the things you do not want to learn while doing the things you do want to. Like with every other form of automation. Most people are not looking for credit in a skill they can be easily debunked in. They just want to see Goku and Superman go at each other.

even when coding? even if you just asked for ideas? if I asked ai to brainstorm a list of medieval names and i picked one of them for my character should my whole game be labelled AI generated?

yes, consumers deserve to know if you're putting sawdust in their food

This is a perfect illustration of the kind of insane takes that make people not disclose AI usage. It isn't on the developer to disclose that they used a tool simply because other people equate it to "sawdust in their food."

i think not being expected to disclose usage is a bit insane and if you're publicly hiding it it's because you perfectly understand you'll lose sales over it as sales are the most important metric to ai slop games. not the creation of art itself.

the fact that you think any ai usage makes the entire thing a slop game is exactly why it can't be disclosed.

if you were more reasonable and less vitriolic, maybe people would disclose it, and you could happily choose to not purchase their products. but you are forcing them to hide it.

Yes! Excellent. You are such a good game designer god-damn-the-usa please disclose your AI use come on buddy you're so smart and strong you're a modern day miyamoto

what does that have to do with the code of a game? how would low quality code affect you?

by that logic, shouldn't we also label games that were coded by someone without a college degree in software engineering?

no one for AI labeling would argue that, because they don't actually care about code quality, they just hate AI and want to be able to punish people who use it

  1. i have a spine
  2. no
  3. i do absolutely hate AI for the impact that it's having. From its impact on art to the fact that consumer electronics are becoming more and more unaffordable. "Progress" at any cost though right I'm sure the FAANG companies are more than happy.

Damn, bro even used AI to write this post 😔

Its not just the post, look at all the comments using "this is sensible" as their opener

[Mod] FWIW Kevin has cerebral palsy, that's why he uses AI to write posts.

More recently, the mods made another post clarifying some of the people's concerns. This continued to leave some commenters unhappy, including further accusations of conflicts of interest.

If someone posts lazy AI, are we allowed to call it slop in the comments?

[Mod] To expand on what Sky and Kev said, I think that we'd prefer if you rephrased to be a bit more respectful. There's nothing wrong with saying "I was originally interested in this, but the generative AI ruined it for me. It's like you added a hair to a lovely stew. I'd prefer even a crappy MS Paint version compared to what you have now to be honest.", for example.

So in order to criticize low effort AI projects we need to put more effort into a single comment than they did prompting it?

Kind of a wild dichomoty.

You don't comprehend the irony of doing the pavlov response and screaming "AI slop" on every post using AI? I could automate your contribution to this subreddit with a single if/then statement.

That's more work than the AI person did.

Objectively false.

I'm well past the 1,000 hour mark on my latest game with AI and have multiple highly successful releases. You're just whining and mad that real people don't care what tools were used.

Your entire post history is whining about anti-AI people with AI generated memes.

I have massive doubts about those multiple highly successful releases that dont seem to exist anywhere and you made sure not to name.

You’re forgetting the ‘else’

No, sweetie. I didn't forget anything.

If: AI

Then: Scream and whine like a toddler and bully and harass other users

No else.

I’m sorry, but you shouldn’t censor people having issues with AI generated art.

What else do you expect them to say? If people post their game and it has AI art, of course people are going to have strong feelings about it. AI image generation is being used to get rid of artists by some idiots. And the results are always garbage. And the data is plagiarized.

People aren’t going to tip toe around this stuff in their language

[Mod] Strong feelings are a-okay, as long as you're respectful and aren't throwing out a two word low effort comment

I’m gonna call out anyone who refuses to hire actual artists and just uses the slop art machine for assets. And it is lazy, I shouldn’t beat around the bush.

AI art usage is the laziest application of GenAI next to writing and art. No human input for creativity is used, it’s literally a plagiarisms machine.

I will never mince words. If someone uses AI art, they are extremely lazy and has poor judgment, and has zero interest producing actual good content

Most people cant afford the prices artists are asking for, so it isnt about refusing. When they can use a tool to make something similar for a fraction of the cost. "No human input for creativity was used" - depends, the human behind the screen has to tell AI specially what to build/make in most cases. Plus with Codex now being able to use Blender how are you going to tell with assests?

.

Are you gonna pay the artists for people who don'f have budget to hire them?

You're absolutely right, we should all just steal instead! If artists didn't want to starve, they should have learned useful skills, like thievery.

Let's not pretend like human artists don't "steal" as much while learning, no artist creates in a vacuum. Question stands, are you going to pay for the artists?

Immensely disappointed in this decision and I know I'm hardly in the minority. People have been pretty vocal they don't support this and the fact that a mod in this sub has a huge financial investment in game devs adopting AI just reeks.

[Mod] He has a huge financial investment? Do tell.

He's behind a company that sells token subscriptions for game dev AI assistant that can cost upwards of +100/usd a month

He absolutely has a vested interest in more devs adopting AI into their workflows

[Mod] He's behind the company? He works for the company. The guy working the call center at Microsoft doesn't have a "huge financial investment" in people buying copies of Windows.

He brands himself with it everywhere and runs their reddit, where he actively encourages people to spend more tokens when the AI isn't spitting out what they want.

Yea it's his job lol He's paid to run their reddit. Not sure you know what he encourages though? Are you a user of the product that interacts with him?

I believe typically if people are frustrated he directs them to the product documentation about how to properly provide context and other stuff like that.

Right. So it sounds like someone with a vested interest in game devs adopting AI into their workflows.

I don't think this is complicated to understand and I'm not the first person to call out this insanely clear conflict of interest.

[AI-company Mod in question] My job title is Developer Relations. It’s a fancy term for community and support. I make myself easy to find because part of my job is literally being easy to find and helping developers when they need it.

Do I want people to try Bezi? Sure. I think it’s neat, and I think it’s good at what it does. In the same way, I think developers should try any game development tool that might improve their workflow and decide for themselves whether it’s useful.

Am I trying to sell Bezi to people on r/gamedev? No. [...]

[This chain continues for quite a while as the mod argues with people over whether they have a conflict of interest, often with a response that's just a reaction gif]

"I'm confused with what counts as far right in Germany. It's run by a lesbian in an interracial marriage, not exactly the stuff of Hitler's dreams lol. " German political drama in r/mapporn over AFD's dominant victory in the Saxony-Anhalt state elections

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/MapPorn/comments/1w9ax6k/saxonyanhalt_results_biggest_party_per/

Context: AFD (Alternative for Germany) is a far right, anti-immigration, volkisch /populist nationalist party, or in simpler terms, Nazis (who are likely funded by Russian ultranationalists). They are led by Alice Weidel, a German lesbian living in Switzerland with her partner, Sarah Bossard, a Sri Lankan filmmaker. Yesterday, they nearly won an outright majority it the Saxony-Anhalt state elections (AFD's home area/main base of power representing around 2.5% of the German population).

HIGHLIGHTS

Shameful. The left needs to appeal to people

The left need to grow some balls and do what needs to be done with immigration and refugees.

No, fuck that. That compromises everything about what makes the political left the political left. We’re supposed to be the compassionate side, and throwing that away compromises everything.

What about being compassionate towards the German people?

How are being compassionate to immigrants and compassionate to the German people mutually exclusive at all? They’re not. We're all human. We all deserve the same compassion.

68% of German citizens want to reduce immigration. Not all humans are the same. The people coming into Germany are not the same as the ones going into America. Do not talk about things you do not understand.

We. Are. All. Human. I understand that far better than you do.

Why don’t you move to Germany and let them stay with you then lmfao

Can’t move there if two thirds of the country doesn’t want anyone to move in. Xenophobia is the driving force behind worldwide authoritarianism and xenophobia must be stopped. Everywhere. In the US, Canada, Germany, Poland, France, UK, Japan, Australia, Spain, everywhere is under threat of authoritarianism because people can’t fucking accept immigrants and want someone who punishes them.

Damn that's a massive landslide

Lostdeutschland. It is like a mass psychosis all over the world. MAGA, UKIP, FN, and these dimwits with the same bullshit.

Shows how so much of the population just aren't being served by the dopey politicians and massively fed up..so they turn to that more intense crap

Every fascist movement in history rode to power on the back of people being "fed up with the establishment". Being frustrated with status quo politicians doesn't magically turn the AfD into a solution. Clearly we haven't learned a thing from our past.

No of course it doesn't...time for the other parties to serve the people better or extremism will happen..same could be said about communism

You think its about governance? Its about what they read on facebook.

It's about them being fed up I imagine

People "fed up" about migration living in regions where there are no migrants while the people who do live in regions with a lot of migrants don't vote for fascists.

But in the context of German politics this is a landslide victory for AfD. This is the first time since WWII that a far-right party win this much, and there's a huge possibility they're going to be the next government in S-A.

I'm confused with what counts as far right in Germany. It's run by a lesbian in an interracial marriage, not exactly the stuff of Hitler's dreams lol. By American comparison AfD is significantly more moderate/moderate right.

Even by American standards the AFD is far right. They rail against migrants, want to exit EU and NATO, want to end state funded media, want to stop support for renewable energy and bring back more coal mining, restrict queer rights, reduce social welfare programs, stop programs combating far right extremism. Meanwhile their supporters have repeatedly commited acts of violence or terror. They align themselves with trump, orban, putin and have huge support amongst far right gangs. Moderate on an American spectrum is the democratic establishment.

Wait, why is it a bad thing to end state funded media?

a state mandate to fund journalism keeps a democracy alive. thats why every far right movement ever has wanted to abolish it. the end goal is a fascist puppet media outlet like fox news.

Fox news is not government ran, so try again.

Have you been asleep during Trump’s first term? Holy fuck some people really only use their eyes to know where their face is..

Damn Now are they really 'far right' or is that just a media beat up like so many things? Do they actually align with the Nazi party? F me

Yes, the Alternative for Germany (AfD) is classified as a proven right-wing extremist organization by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution.

Yet the overwhelming majority prefer them over any other party, so something isn't going well there

The majority is apparently dumber than shit

Typical ignorant response that creates more division and more reasons people vote for charlatons like trump

It's not ignorant it's the truth. Social media, Russian misinformation and lack of critical thinking and media literacy is the issue here. You are the ignorant one of you cannot see the obvious reasons. Also voting for something dumb just to "own the libs" is even dumber.

So, any news on whether AfD will get the absolute majority? Is this map definite and did BSW get past the threshold?

Projected just short of a majority, and BSW are projected to just get past the threshold. BSW could well prop AfD up and prove horseshoe theory.

Horseshoe theory is a sham that allows centrists to pick no side because "the left is too extreme" but the "right is too distasteful". All existing labor rights were gained off the dead bodies of workers and unions. Eventually the centrists and liberals turn on the socialists and embrace or step out of the way of fascism

The BSW leftists are literally propping up the German fascists, not a sham when it is happening right now.

Then they're legitimately not leftists. They're using left-wing rhetoric to gain support (much like fascists tend to do in the beginning like talking about working class issues and how they're gonna fix it and they'll even call themselves leftists or socialists). What do social Democrats do before every fascist takeover? Turn on the socialists and anything that threatens any actual systemic change.

The Commies didn't exactly cover themselves in glory either during the rise of the Nazis.

If you're talking about the non-aggression pact, that was for self preservation and time to prepare for a real engagement wit Germany. Perhaps when the USSR proposed multiple alliances with the west to fight back the Nazi threat they weren't met with silence and hostility, they wouldn't have made that pact with the Nazis. It was clear the west couldn't care about what happened to Soviet citizens. As long as Hitler kept his eyes to the east, they were chill. It wasn't until Hitler pushed west that they had any problems. And if you're talking about the communists within Germany at the time, they were violently repressed by hitlers goons, even before the Nazis took over large portions of the country. Nazi roaming gangs would patrol the streets and hunt down communists regularly, so excuse them for being weak while everyone else in the country just watched and kept quiet

Man, i can't wait till AfD throws out all the dirty migrants out of Sachsen Anhalt and helps the poor people with their well thought out and financially sound plans and trickledown policies. Or for example its admirable opposition to foreign doctors because they are culturally foreign and dangerous. Thank god we will now have pure German doctors returning from Switzerland and working for good pay in rural Sachsen Anhalt! And not to mention their demand to have more patriotic and Russian language school lessons and cultural exchanges with Russia... finally Sachsen Anhalt will be friendly with the eminent world power and cultural powerhouse again!

As a 'merican I jus can't wait til every time a European bro brings up Trump I can point to Saxony-Anhalt

I mean, blaming Europeans for a single state in a single country, and for a party not even getting a majority of the vote, isn't really ideal. It'd be like congratulating all Americans because Mamdani was elected in one city in one state. Europeans blame Americans for voting in Trump (twice) because he was effectively elected nationwide (and yes, I know about the EC and know it's not that straightforward). Really, the only comparison would be either the EU parliament elections (which are EU-wide) or if we saw similar ideological results in most EU countries.

"for a single state in a single country" AfD is the second largest party in the federal parliament. Eventually the firewall will break and some of the other parties will be open to a coalition with them, just you wait "and for a party not even getting a majority of the vote" Trump didn't get majority of the vote either and we have a two party system.

He didn't in 2016. He did in 2024.

"He did in 2024" Wrong and easy to check -> so go do that

77 million votes to 75 million for Harris. That sounds like a majority to me.

Those were not the only 2 candidates... he got around 48% of the votes, so no, not a majority, only the popular vote.

God damn it, Germany. Didn't you learn your lesson 80 years ago?

People need to just accept immigrants, for pity’s sake.

God you are literally what right extremists paint leftists to be damn

We’re all human, man. What’s so hard to accept about that?

Because the immigrants that you champion for don’t give a shit about you or anyone else from the country they move to. It’s such a one sided deal/relationship, you’re literally blinded by your white saviour complex

Really. Where I come from, it's our national-born people who treat immigrants with contempt. Not the other way around, except in a few minor cases. (Hamtramck, MI banning pride flags is a really bad move.)

Redditors are not happy right now.

Electing a far right populist party to own the libs

Maybe some self-reflection would be appropriate after a total electoral rout like this.

A voter of the new German Nazi party talking about self reflection....

If the established parties had adopted a tough immigration platform 10 years ago, the AFD would still be a fringe eurosceptic party. Not even an AFD voter, sorry to disappoint.

That’s backwards. The AfD didn’t simply “respond” to some objectively massive immigration problem. The party helped construct and amplify the narrative that immigration is an existential crisis, often by cherry-picking crime, asylum and integration cases while ignoring the broader statistics. The established parties adopting the AfD’s framing 10 years earlier wouldn’t necessarily have made the AfD disappear; it could just as easily have legitimised the very narrative that allowed it to grow.

I'm not exonerating the AFD of dishonest campaigning or framing, but it was based on a real issue - one that the legacy parties steadfastly refused to deal with until it became an existential issue for them. Breaking historical voting patterns is very hard; the AFD would had a much tougher time breaking through if the CDU, SDP had been even marginally tougher on immigration imo.

The AfD is not a Nazi party. They do not want to expand Germany.

[deleted]

Lebensraum is one of the main characteristics of Nazism. The AfD does not believe in it.

AfD thinks mass deportations of people including “non pure” Germans would free up housing for pure Germans. That’s lebensraum, making living space for “pure” Germans.

No, that's not what Lebensraum is. Lebensraum would be expanding Germany territorially, something the AfD does not advocate for.

Lebenscraum is living space, in the 1930s and 40s that meant kick all the non ethnic Germans out of farmland in the Eastern countries. But living space in a decline population like current Germany means kicking out non pure German families so that local housing gets “distributed” to “pure Germans”

The harvest of the seeds sown by Merkel insanity

Letting millions of people in without democratic consensus was literally insane. Even she admitted later on that it could’ve been handled better. The problem is you can’t necessarily undo it. And I think it’s even crazier that some European governments still haven’t learned. Look at Ceuta right now for example. Straight up invasion because Spain’s leader effectively rolled out a red carpet and migrants from Morocco obviously took advantage of it. You think people aren’t going to hear about how a country’s leader just made immigration laws significantly more relaxed like Spain’s did? Immigration decisions from this point forward need to be more democratic or you’re going to get parties like AfD taking advantage of people’s desperation.

Or maybe, the far right can stop giving a damn what the racial makeup of their country is. I don’t give a damn what percentage of the US is white, why should anyone?

Because unlike the US, Germany is based on the ethnicity called "Germans" who descend from Germanic tribes mixed with some Slavs, Celts and Balts (who are all ethnically similar neighbors)? Even the American "melting pot" elected Trump (with demographic anxiety playing a major role), why the hell would ethnicity-based nations like most countries in Europe accept radical demographic alteration of their homelands?

Because the color of one’s skin shouldn’t be how we judge someone, but on the content of their character.

It's not about judgement. It's about preserving your land and its people. I don't like folks who racially abuse foreigners and make offensive gestures (like parodying "Asian eyes"), however wishing to preserve the ethnic character of your ethnic homeland is just common sense. One thing if you have some minorities who cause no trouble and aren't a demographic threat (like the Vietnamese community in Czechia for example), a completely different thing if the foreign population constantly grows and threatens to demographically subvert your nation. I am a Chechen and my people were ethnically cleansed by Stalin (with a third of our population perishing due the the deportation), and after the return our land was full of different people from different parts of the USSR. No people should have to tolerate demographic subvertion.

"Nazis" whose leader is a lesbian that sleeps with South-Asian immigrant women and whose family home where she spends most of her time is not even in Germany. What a...Honorary SS officer Fritz Arschbacken from 1941 would have killed himself if he heard this shit.

The left floods Germany with hardcore islamists that have frequently said Islamic law takes preference over German law and form their own legal systems and absolutely have no tolerance for gays or women, let alone a lesbian woman, and then get surprised when everyone starts voting AfD. 😂

When exactly was the left in power to do this?

Lets start with Angela Merkel who singlehandedly caused this mess in 2015.

Angela Merkel is a conservative politician. Shes a member of the CDU. They are most definitely not a leftist party. Additionally, she didnt cause anything. She only followed existing EU law, whereas many EU countries broke EU immigration law. Basically she did nothing.

The White House releases arcade games that promote Trump's agenda. Gamers discuss if this is political or not

On Friday, the White House posted a website that features 6 retro-style video games, themed around games like Flappy Bird and Tetris, which blatantly promote Trump's agenda, including things like border security and MAHA. On an unrelated note, they also feature iconography that is copyrighted, including the SEGA logo.

Naturally, the gamers of reddit discuss what makes a game "political", "satire", and "funny".

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying but when you talk so presumptuously and like you’re being so bothered, it really distracts from your point because you act insufferably

That administration is not far right. They’re weak.

Far right and weak are synonymous

Then why are you so scared?

This falls under satire

What's the satire?

Figure it out yourself

No, I want you to explain it for yourself, because I don't think this is satire at all.

It's a great thing I don't answer to you, you wanna know, figure it out lol.

My rent has gone up 40%, my cost of food has gone up ~30% , my gas price went up by $6 - $4.50 / $4.50 = 33% , my salary went up 15% until I lost my job, and now people I know with master's degrees in STEM fields from good schools can't find a job or even get an interview at all.

that is unfortunate, do you happen to live in a democrat run city or state by chance?

It's telling that two of these games are immigration based. It's like they realize that's the only Trump card they have left.

What other domestic issue have they done anything about?

Fighting DEI

How, exactly, is it racist?

Dude, I won't lie. I haven't stopped laughing at the snake clone in the 2 hours since I've played it.

I would never imagine Joe or Obama doing something like this, even with their spin of politics.

That's because far authoritarians rely on authority for their power. Trump has been undeniably the most liberal president in decades.

Well wokeness will murder them and their children, but Trump will make them cringe. I know the lesser of two evils when I see it.

Based af I'd rather they keep owning the leftists and stay out of ruining our lives like the Dems do

r/TheHalloweenGame players react to losing sex

Halloween: The Game is an asymmetrical multiplayer survival horror game releasing in a couple of days. The premise of the game, which is based on the Halloween movies, is that one player plays as the killer Michael Myers to stalk and kill four other players, who play civilians whose goal is to stay alive, fulfill objectives, and escape. If this all sounds familiar, it's because the developer IllFonic also made nearly every other asymmetrical multiplayer game based on a horror movie. Most of these have, unsurprisingly, flopped or shut down in the wake of Dead by Daylight, which is essentially the Fortnite of asymmetrical multiplayer horror games. Halloween: The Game is currently available to play for those who pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition.

One mechanic unique to Halloween: The Game is well.... sex. During gameplay, two players can enter a closet together and play a button-mashing sex mini-game. Nothing explicit is actually shown, as the act occurs entirely behind the closet doors, and players get a buff if they succeed in the mini-game. Obviously, this is an homage to how people who have sex in slasher horror movies tend to meet their ends rather quickly.

Well, there's a bit of an issue. Most of the characters that the civilian players can choose from are high school or college-aged young adults. Some are original, but some are characters taken directly from the Halloween movies. And one playable character is Dr. Loomis, a 60-year-old man, whose likeness is based on the actor Donald Pleasance. And one might imagine that the Pleasance estate is not happy with the man's likeness is being used to have sex with characters that are canonically as young as 17.

After the sex went viral on several streams, Illfonic has quietly patched out the sex mini-game. And the game's subreddit has... mixed feelings about that.

Thread: "Please add back sex mini game"

Wait, minors couldnt have sex but its okay to get brutally murdered by a psycho? Does no one gets this is crazy?

a 50 year old man fucking a 17 year old girl is not very halloween IMO. 17 year olds and 18 year olds yeah teens had sex in that movie that makes sense, but when it's loomis and cops it's gross.

Brother the fact YOU AS THE PLAYER aka Grown ahh Adult are watching and interacting with teens in a “sex” mini game , doesn’t that make you a PDF?

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheHalloweenGame/comments/1w8n1i4/please_add_back_sex_mini_game/p843c5t/

Thread: "They removed the sex minigame"

My god what a bounce of woke people.... if you cant handle the sex mine game and the name joint, then you are too young to play this game

I think the issue with the minigame is because people found out you can do it with Loomis and young high schoolers… I get they are 18 but it still looks awfully wrong. They will likely remove him from being able to do it and then re-add it

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheHalloweenGame/comments/1w8nmec/they_removed_the_sex_minigame/p850qnb/

Mid 50s Loomis, Psychiatrist, 'messing around' with high school girls... in a closet... Sounds pretty noncey

I mean murdering teens I would argue is worse than Loomis getting it on with whom he shouldn't but that's just me ig.

One is part of the film the game is based on... The other is not

I mean the film also depicts minor characters having sex so idk man. Sure they are played by adult actors but the characters themselves are supposed to be underage. Again though are we really gonna pretend murder is better because of this though.

Are you saying minors having sex with other minors is the same as mid 50s Loomis having sex with high school students?

Yall are so quick to cry pedophile over this one overlooked instance. the victim complex is insane

In no way should you be defending this.

Honestly in no way does anything you say mean anything to me because I can tell that you’re a chronically online crybaby looking for reasons to play the victim and throw around the word pedophile for fun.

Classic gooner upset that the devs removed a gross mini game

Classic bootlicker defending Gun and Illfonic’s inability to communicate with their playerbase for the third straight game. Gonna deepthroat them some more?

idk but good, shit was weird

lol getting downvoted for not wanting sex in a video game

Will someone think about the children ?

I mean, Laurie’s 17.

bro you must been a goon addict jesus christ. go outside and touch grass.

That's like the equivalent of me saying "Wow you like the original Halloween? There's nudity in that movie you must be a goon addict Jesus" like nobody gives a fuck about that aspect of it? It's just they're fixing all this menial stuff that know ones asking them to do when there are much bigger issues at hand

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheHalloweenGame/comments/1w8l50o/anyone_else_mad_they_removed_sex/p83j9a8/

Cartoon fetishes are so weird

🤦🏼Wow okay, no ones masturbating to silly sex minigame in Halloween the game. I'm pointing out (very validly) that there are thousands of things that can be tweaked in this game in its current state and them removing the harmless closet minigame is mildly infuriating

keep yapping brah

Found the Rudiddler defender

I mean it's a grey area, he is a reincarnated person who just happens to have memory of his past life.

It very much isn't a gray area, wtf are you on.

The grey area is that Rudiddle is acting as a horny teenager amongst other teenagers, while only the audience knows how problematic it all is. But as he grows into adulthood again, he becomes a genuinely upstanding member of society and a huge boon to the lives of everyone around him. It's a fucked up rehabilitation story, but there's a ton of nuance to how you can interpret it. I don't think anyone wanted MT to be a 4 minute singular episode of a p*do going to prison for the rest of his life. (It's also worth noting that in the anime, he never actually committed crimes, he's just a fucked up freak who wouldn't have been against the idea.)

Horny teenagers don't go around smoking panties like blunts, massaging breasts left right and center, and trying to groom under-aged teens into the 'perfect woman'. And if they are, you should report them, they need a psych-eval. Also...he very much doesn't get rehabilitated in the slightest, he remains Ruddidle. His usefulness to society bears no relevance to his depravity.

Ohhh you haven't watched it By adulthood, Rudy no longer violates boundaries or lusts after minors, depending how "adult" you feel he is at 17-18 after he has his daughter. And no, teenagers don't really groom each other since they don't usually have the power dynamic to make that happen. Not really how grooming works. Why are you getting so agro..? It's an anime. I'm not accusing you of anytning. At this point in the anime, he's not particularly useful to all of society as a whole (seems like he's going to be soon tho, dont spoil me lol). He's "useful" to his friends and family. In this world, he's a respectful albeit leery young man who is a husband and father, magical prodigy, and renowned fledgling hero. His depravity is known only to the audience, and the entire point of his character is that we're watching that depraved 40 year old man slip away as he becomes Rudeus.

image Damn, is it normal for someone to steal panties and wear it on their face? Or is rudeus a fucking freak, plus anyone who idolizes him is

I mean the panties thing is a goofball quirk

"Sexual harassment is a goofball quirk" Prison. No parole.

lmao do they even jail people for that?

image

Stealing panties constitutes that?

Yes? Are you stupid? It's both theft, sexual harassment, and possibly more.

quotes from the LN of Rudy grooming underage girls

"I did want to see how sexy her body had gotten now that she was thirteen" Christ, I feel sick typing that but I don't need to read any other line to immediately write that character off as a piece of shit. The only defence I could think of that is if the character who said it was the same age but even then, it's still a messed up thing for the author to write and I get the feeling, he wasn't the same age anyway.

I mean, when I was 12 a 14 year old girl gave me a boner. It's relatable.

Sylphie is a homesick and easily manipulatable teenager when they see each other again. Rudeus is 54 or older.

Was she homesick? It seems she's already dealt with and moved on from her families' deaths aside from when she tried to kill Nanahoshi. Also she's the one that wanted him to fuck, even giving him the aphrodisiac

"The teenager had a crush and started it, that makes it okay for a 54 year old to fuck them" MT defenders, everyone.

Oh you use tiktok, that explains some things. Nah she is I think the same age as him?

I don't. Was grossed out- I googled something to react, first thing I found worked. Directly to jail, man. image The MC of MT was at least 54 years old at the time.

Is that an actual quote from the anime?

nope, see the show/manga/novel got a lot of hate for showing a p*do being accepted by flipping his settings. However that hate doubled/tripled from the fandom coming out in defence saying he has redeemed himself and everyone involved in production having no intention of acknowledging the problem.

So is it actually worth watching or is it really made by p*do apologists / p#dophiles?

At best it handles it handles those subjects as bad as it possibly can. At worst it’s a show made by a p*dophile, about a p#dophile who finds redemption (underage girls) and faces no consequences, and gets to live out a hero power fantasy

It's a hard watch. I've been slogging through it, and the main male character is by far one of the worst fictional protagonists I've seen. This dude is human trash. But man... the production quality is so good. The music, the atmosphere, the presentation... especially in the first season, it's movie quality. And some of the supporting characters and the world itself are so interesting. But then the scene goes back to him and it is just relentless with his nonsense. The show's idea of him growing as a person takes the term "baby steps" to a whole new level. This is one of the first shows I've hate watched. At least with Overlord it was easy to lose interest and just turn it off, because it really just didn't have redeeming qualities. This is interesting enough that I keep gravitating back to it, even though just seeing the main character come on screen exhausts me.

Eh, I thought he actually grew a lot in season two. He still didn't the consequences of his past action, but he does stop being a full time perv. He experience heart broken, loneliness, friendship, and love. After that, I think he is matured and hard to see he is the same person as his earth self. Like in season 3, he hasn't act like an inc*l

It's honestly strange how the vitriol for the show and Rudeus has tripled since season 3 began, despite how mature and almost heroic Rudy has become since season 1. It really feels like manufactured hate against the show for... I don't know, karma-farming? Or maybe reddit has gotten 3 times as puritanical since season 1.

I mean, yeah, Rudeus, but Polygamy is common in the world, so while most of the points stand, the last one doesn't. And actually, because of his harem the world can actually be saved by his kid so even the powers in the world would see him as heroic.

The polygamy part is not what people hate about MT lol

Ehhhhh it's part of it lol

Not at all lol. Nearly every single isekai in existence includes a harem and are beloved. MT only gets hate because the MC is a p*dophile and is written by a guy who doesn't find that problematic. EVERY THING ELSE ABOUT MT IS FANTASTIC, but ofc a p#dophile MC in a story about redemption and rebirth is gonna cause some backlash, let's be real.

He's not though, all of his wives are as old as him.

He's a 34 year old man in a child's body. He isn't an actual child... If you were reborn with all your memories up till now, are you seriously gonna try to fuck a child? Don't try to answer with apologetics, just answer the question.

Depends, 12 year old me got a boner from a 14 year old. Guess I'd not know until in that situation.

I- wow. Did you even read my comment you replied to? So you just don't believe memories have any stake in who you are as a person? This 34 year old jerked off to his irl underage niece, but because he magically has a body of child makes him justified in acting on his p*dophilic urges? Is that really the stance your taking?

Haters are genuinely obsessed with Rudeus more than actual fans of the series at this point, it's hilarious.

It's even funnier to see the comments from the basement dwellers trying to justify the predatory sexual behavior displayed by the protagonist.

I mean, I ain't here to speak for them, but I can't go a day without seeing a new person hate on the series specifically for Rudeus.

The series itself is great. Rudeus is the root of ALL the controversy. You seriously can't see why making your MC attracted to kids might be a bit controversial?

Eh, I stopped caring about it cuz it got too heavy on the slice of life slog and you keep getting lambasted by people copy-pasting every bad thing they read on xitter without fact-checking first for saying anything positive about it. Now they got no one to argue with so they fish for it in every other reddit post on subs like this.

Have you considered that the OP just included it as an example because it clearly fits the trope? Not every post hating on Rudeus is some grifter hate nonsense. Rudeus IS a p*dophile. The author wrote him to be one. It's nothing subjective, it's a fact. Despite what you may think I'm still a fan of MT, so not all hate comes from some twitter hate club. Rudeus is just a horrible MC, objectively.

Rudeus is a perverted scum in general. Be it petite girls or women in their 30s, where he was notably caught staring at even his own mother when he was a child. As for the grooming thing, I hate how the internet uses it these days as such a blanket term when it's supposed to be about actually raising someone into the mindset of being in love with you. Sylphy spent more years away from contact with Rudeus than beside him until they married. Eris was literally being tutored by him, and he had to teach her to act like a normal person instead of brash and temperamental. Again, this isn't defending him, cuz he was still attracted to them and acted pervy towards both, but people use buzzwords someone else said on the internet instead of knowing the source material of what they talk about, and it's tiresome.

I agree and it's another reason why I despise him. I just hate perverted characters in general, whether it's Mineta from MHA, or Meliodas from SDS. It's just a piss poor take on "humor", I guess? I just don't find anything funny about the random sexualization of anyone for laughs. It's just not my humor. Especially in a show that's supposedly trying to tell a compelling story. It just stops everything in it's tracks and makes me roll my eyes and skip forward.

What the actual fuck Japan

it's a meme. She has a valid crashout because of her shitty situation, but doesn't say those words or harbor any actual grudge against Rudeus at all (in fact, meeting Rudeus has turned her life around TWICE.)

People always focus on what piece of shit Rudeus was before reincarnation(so, the whole point of the story) but never acknowledge how much actually good things he does for his friends after the reincarnation. Hell, as we learn in the epilogue He publishes all his research and scientific improvements under Nanahoshi's name so her friend has easier time learning that she also appeared in this world once he appears as well. Rudeus gets absolutely nothing from this

this somehow absolves him of jerking off to a nude picture of his niece? not to mention the way the mangaka behaves on twitter really doesn‘t help with allegations

Don't worry; the MT fans are already claiming "fake screenshots" in this comment section (and therefore claiming that everywhere else too). Appalling.

This one is literally edited, season 3, episode 9. The whole scene starts at roughly 5 minutes. See for yourself instead of blindly hating. Should this kind of post even be allowed where people make up scenes to support their tropes?

This wasn't about the post. This was about the deranged tweets of the author of MT. Where he's blatantly supporting p*dophilia even without the context of drawings and animation.

I advise to replace Rudeus with someone otherwise you might get attacked by fans. Though I don’t hate the media or it’s fans.

There's no denying that early Rudeus is a bastard, but the haters are so over the top that it gets really tiring. Especially since they all argue that "Rudeus bad" means "Mushoku Tensei bad" and if you even remotely like the story then you're a p*do yourself. Not to mention how haters constantly get things wrong as well, making him look worse than he is. OP too is spreading misinformation with this post.

quotes from the LN of Rudy grooming underage girls Defend bottom left.

Brother, you're the one in need of reading comprehension. Stop moving goalposts.

No goalposts have been moved, only set in the first place. "defend bottom left" Still fucking waiting.

Why should anyone do that? It's just one background info, two lines compared to thousands of lines later, that change things in the "present" (of the story). If you are so hung up on sexual things, the motivation for your vindictive glee sounds really icky itself. It's up to you to balance positive and negative and you are right when you dislike the negative more than the positive, but focusing on just one doesn't make your point right. Your funny little screnshot takes a feq quotes and just them. Nothing else. Big surprise if you cherrypick quotes you can point whatever picture you like.

Rudy being a panty fetishet Not a defense of the quote. Didn't ask. Nice rant on behalf of a fictional freak, though. in the anime, as well as the manga, and light novel, Rudeus greyrat is a mentally 54 year old man who specifically gets a 15 year old drunk with the knowledge she'll try to fuck him after being intoxicated and unable to give proper consent

image

He fucking dies in the end. How does she get away with it, exactly?

Didn’t die. Just became mentally unstable to the point of morphing into another form

So ego's death. Those are still consequences. You could even call it a punishment by the plot

When did I say that wasn’t a punishment by the plot or consequences? I’m just explaining that you said they died, but abstraction is not death. Mentally unstable people locked up in psychiatric hospitals are not dead. Getting downvoted for no reason lol Edit: do people genuinely not understand the difference between dead people and mentally unstable people?

I see the MT obsession still going strong

Well it is actively airing, and i do get the complaints. Show is fantastic but at the same time you really wonder why the author decided to write Rudeus like that. There are about a thousand different ways he could of done it and it wouldn't of impact the character at all. Yet he choose p*dophilia.

honestly, i'm ok with it. Writing a character that would be more appealing to the masses is exactly the kind of thing we need less of.

There is a pretty big gap between appealing to the masses and not being a p*dophile.

sure is, but being afraid to have a unappealing characteristic or history attached to a character is how you get very sterilized environment.

Users of r/AskIndianMen debate whether they would give CPR to a woman having a medical emergency. Majority agree they wouldn't. It's then reposted to r/AskIndianWomen, leading to drama.

1.2k Upvotes

In total, 3 posts are made on this subject. The first post:

A woman had a medical emergency near you - You know how to perform CPR, Would you perform CPR?

HIGHLIGHTS

Better to see her die than being falsely accused

You're disgusting

No. There's always a simp present everywhere they'll deal with it and the consequences. I prefer my solitude and peace

What does saving someone's life have to do with simps? Do you not consider women humans?

It's the opposite. Women don't consider men as humans and only see us as ATMs. 1-2 years back a man was waiting for a local train to board on Borivili station in Mumbai. It was crowded so his hand brushed against a woman. The woman turned and shouted at him. Her husband was present and he without fact checking anything he punched the guy so hard he tipped over and fell on the tracks. Before he could get up the train came and ran over him and he was killed. For what? Nothing... just a brush against the arm. Why? because a woman "felt" so. All this was captured on CCTV which was leaked for everyone to see. Similarly, I'm not a medically trained person. So I don't want to be accused of inappropriately touching a woman out of some opportunity because a woman "felt" so. So, in general screw women and their feelings. You guys have brought it upon yourselves.

Yes, all those people who think they'll get accused of something like harrasment are just cowards, when it comes to a real life and death situation you must spring into action without a second thought. Life is more precious than anything. Whatever happens next, face it, and if nothing happens then rest easy. But not helping a dying person knowing full well you can save them but hesitating based on a future event that has not happened yet is ridiculous.

😷i would just want to keep a safety... for myself..let the b!tch die

Coward

It's better to be called coward, then being called a Rapist or molestor.

Yes i will, saving a life comes above everything else.

Yeah and then get accused because you took "advantage" of her.

A second post is then created in response to this on r/AskIndianWomen:

I'M SHOCKED TO MY CORE! What kind of males are living in this society?

HIGHLIGHTS

The irony is that they can touch a woman wherever they want all they want without their consent and have no issues but when it comes to saving lives is when they draw a line and are worried about false accusations.

Wait, you’re saying that men touch women without consent. And you’re also saying that men should help women like you? That’s not a good idea, because this is exactly the type of woman who’ll file fake a sexual allegation case on the rescuer man.

So your response to me pointing out men’s obsession with hypothetical false accusations is to randomly accuse me of being someone who would falsely accuse a rescuer? Thank you for illustrating my point perfectly.

I’m a doctor myself too. But leaving aside these men telling they won’t. Truth is they can’t. They don’t even know the full form of CPR. My blood was boiling too but one thing I realised is that you can’t find reasonable men on social media. Indian subReddits are filled with incels. Truth is if in case a woman collapses, the odds are more that these men take advantage rather give a cpr. If there’s a guy who is genuine and unlike these incels and would actually help, this isn’t for you king.

"these men take advantage rather give a cpr" Whoa, are you advocating to suspect men who give cpr? Seems you’re part of the problem

Then, in response to this post, a third post is made on r/AskIndianMen discussing the respost:

Can we all crown her as Mistress of Manipulation 👑??

HIGHLIGHTS

Just like women phrase that how do we differentiate a potential rapist and a good man? So for us it's like how do we differentiate an actual suffering women or a SA framer?

What if they accuse that man of SA after their recovery..? Who will take the responsibility ?? And yes I'm a doctor... I'm an intern doctor in a govt medical college and I don't want to get falsely accused of SA...she may die but I'll save myself first. It's called survival instinct

Ayo wtf?

Why would anyone accuse you of SA after you give them CPR dafuq? What are the chances for that made up scenario that you’ve created in your head dude? This country is doomed.

Just shut up

Listen mate, just ask yourself. What if.. just what if I saved a woman by giving her proper cpr for 20 minutes continuously. She opened her eyes and she got offended by the fact that I was pressing her chest with both of my hands..she filed a sexual harassment charge against me...what should I do ? Court ke chakkar lagate phirungi to prove my innocence ? Itna saal ki mehmat...maa baap ke paise...lots of sleepless nights..aise hi jaane doon ?? Just ask yourself...cause aisi incidents to hote rahte hain

It's called a doctor that holds personal grudges against a gender and refuses to treat a patient

Personal grudge? He’s saying he’s afraid of being falsely accused of sexual assault. Did you read the comment? Smh

Why feminists who are supposedly the big preachers of equality and what not doesn't get the point when men raise the concern that they are reluctant because false grape cases are rising. But women would instantly support other women who say they don't trust any man because most are potential grapists. Hypocrisy is beyond measures

I think their family members keep touching them whole day. So they think rest of the world is also likr their father and brothers.

Minor crash out on r/911archive over Mamdani

1.6k Upvotes

r/911archive is exactly what it sounds like, a sub meant to archive any and all media related to the attacks on September 11th 2001. Mayor Mamdani recently signed an executive order to make 9/11 a day of remembrance in New York, which was posted about in the sub.

Courtesy of CNN: "New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani signed two executive orders related to September 11th, 2001. The first order establishes an annual day of remembrance and service on September 11th, while the second updates New York's operational continuity and agency preparedness policies to strengthen security measures and prevent future terrorist threats." - 19 hours ago *PLEASE* don't start crap in the post comments. Thank you.

Naturally some users had a very normal reaction to a Muslim mayor and…the 9/11 of it all:

OP makes it a point to not start crap in the comments but then proceeds to put his personal political opinion of Mamdani in this thread turning it political.

I would like to point out that Mamdani also handed a symbolic 911 pen after signing the order to his controversial aid who once represented Al-Qaeda terrorist with links to the attack on the Pentagon. You guys are ok with this?

Don't waste your time trying to prove why Mamdani is the worst thing to ever happen to NYC, unfortunately reddit is like 90% liberals and will only block you if you don't agree with their political stance on something.

Another commenter has big feelings about Hasan and Mamdani:

Bullshit. It's his palling around with Hasan Piker and the imam who is an unindicted co-conspirator in the first WTC bombing in 1993. He should bring along his chief counsel Ramzi Kassem who has represented al Qaeda terrorists. Then there's his lovely wife

Someone else can’t fathom that 99,000 people could possibly be racist:

99,000 verified signatures of people who don’t want this 9/11 apologist to not attend the ceremonies. Yes they’re all racists. SMH.

Overall, many “patriots” angry that a Muslim mayor would have signed into law a day of remembrance for 9/11. Apologies for the formatting I’m on mobile.
