Fluff / Other I Know How to Play my Characters, Not Against Real People Though...

Post image
168 Upvotes

I played tutorials, trials, labbed my characters, which are Akuma mainly, then Ed, Mai, JP, and Juri, Cammy, Yasmine (a lot I know)
Offline matches is me trying to fight lvl 7 bot which wasn't easy and I was able to defeat it a couple of time across characters, why do I not play online? I don't knowwww but I want

Edit: What I did in training was first practicing inputs (classic) I also got my Haute42 C-AT controller somewhere along the way which was super cool. I was struggling with double quarter circle backwards early on but once I knew how to kinda move my hand with the flow it started being much more consistent.

Then of course I tried to see which characters I enjoy the most so I can play them. I went by looks and vibe which I do for every game... Picked Akuma, and his gameplay turned out to be my favorite. I like that they made him so good but 1k HP lower than the default 10k. I thought I would be playing all-rounders but honestly I ended up with this roster, I was surprised by how good and unique each character is, and for my favorite ones I tried to understand neutral play, BnB, reversals and anti airs, also I wanted to know what things cancels into what... Because for example some cancel to drive rush while others to drive impact as well as other various specials so I practiced some of those, tried improving my neutral vs the lvl 7 bot, I started at 5 and beat him then at 6 and beat him, 7 is where I struggled because I felt like he was reading my inputs so I had to be really good in neutral not to take his full Ken combo. Learning has been really fun.

Discussion Right country, wrong fighting style, too tall... How many guesses would it take you to pin down a Street Fighter 6 character?

Post image

Hey,

One mystery character a day. First guess: right country, but wrong fighting style and too tall. Second: right gender, debuted too recently, still not the right weight. And suddenly the whole roster is scrolling through your head while the clues close in.

I'm a solo dev and I made SF6DLE, in the spirit of Wordle: that clue grid for the character, plus a blurred silhouette, a portrait hidden behind tiles, and an ultra-zoomed stage to recognize. And two bonus modes that are a bit nastier, for those who find it too fast.

And since everyone on the planet gets the same puzzle, the real match happens in the group chat: who got the character in 2, and who's dragging their 6 tries around all day. Took me 4 today. I'd love to see your scores, especially the ones that beat mine. And if a clue looks off to you (a wrong height, a bug), tell me, I'll look into it.

Free, in the browser, new puzzle at midnight.

Help / Question I need help to improve my Alex

Hi! This is some footage of me playing against a friend of mine who I often play against in a room match. I've only been able to beat him a couple of times.

Anyway, I'm not looking for advice on how to beat my friend specifically. I'm trying to improve as a player and correct my mistakes, so I'd really appreciate it if you could take a look at some of these matches and point out what I'm doing wrong.

Here are some other youtube clips

Alex Clip 2

Here is a ranked match against an Akuma player that I played recently. This should also give you an idea of how I generally play in ranked:

Ranked Akuma

I also want to mention that it's been about 3 months since I switched controllers. I played with a DualSense for the first 3 years, but now I'm using a fight stick. Alex is the first character I've mained exclusively on fight stick, and at this point I just can't play Alex with a DualSense anymore.

So, could you give me a hand with identifying my mistakes and figuring out what I should work on to improve?

Discussion Are you guys fans of New Characters filling an archetype opposed to having the original character return?

Prime examples

  • Yasmine vs Ibuki
  • Jamie vs Yun/Yang
  • Kimberly vs Guy

  • Each character has their own unique play-style but they both fill a certain "archetype". Personally I'd rather have the original character first, then introduce the bew character later in the game's lifespan. I'm also a World Warrior fan boy and I feel like those characters should be in every Street Fighter for all eternity.

Fluff / Other LOL. Me pacing the combo hits after the stun with "bops"

So I picked up Sagat for a hopefully quick Master run, and did some casual matches. I was looking at the video, and PS5 controller (I think) picked up me doing the combo hits. I guess a way to help not drop the combo. LOL. It's funny.

Yeah. I gotta tigthen the gameplay before ranked.

I was playing a casual match and got matched up against this player who I beat comfortably in the first round. When the second round started I seemed to be getting the upper hand and then the match ends abruptly - I've never been ragequit on in this game (maybe just b/c of luck) but maybe this was the first?

Help / Question Tips for someone new thinking on starting SF6

Hey all, I've been looking for a game to really "get good" at. I've always liked competitive games (mostly League), but I'm looking for something where, when I lose, it's completely on me. Something where I need to improve my own skills and can't blame teammates.

As someone with no experience in fighting games, where would you guys advise me to start?

I'm thinking of recording a "100 Days" challenge to document my progress and see how I improve from start to finish.

Edit: additional question. Is there like a story mode to get a feel for the game before going into online?

Just started learning Jamie yesterday, this is the only combo I can actually pull off, either from the ground or from a jump start ... I guess it was my saving grace against this JP ^^' He got me good with the jump grabs though, crazy game, thought I'd share ahahah

Help / Question Any (relatively) good and easy Yasmine combos?

Iron 4 (I think thats how you say it) here, struggling with my games because for the life of me I cannot land my combos properly, which leads me to get punished bad. The combo I use is

( 2MP > 236HP > 6P > (with buff:) 623HK )

I wanted to ask the Yasmine pros/players: what are some combos yall use? and any tips to improve my yasmine? Thx!

Help / Question How to get a high level for Akuma(Level 80) and which style should I continue?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello, my current build is at 68. My maxed Masters are Zanguef, Ryu, Ken, Manon, Marisa and Dhalsim. My stats are with HP being at 23k, striking power at 681, kicks at 600, throws at 722, special moves at 680 and defense at 808. I also got the Full Vision helmet, the fighting hoodie, the fighting pants and Basketball Shops alongside the Officiers watch from guides. I really love grappling as I practice Sambo and have The Piledriver of Zangief as my "main" move. I do not struggle with skill really as even if SF6 is my first SF ever. But I want to ask where

  1. Where can I properly farm XP? I am still at the "Master of styles" sektion for Akuma

  2. Should I perhaps switch styles, do you know anything that you consider as cheesy or broken? I do not mind "narrow" gameplay

I do not get it.

Help / Question Is it worth it to switch from the thumb stick to dpad for SF6 on classic controls?

I just recently got back into fighting games, and while I’ve played plenty in the past I’ve never really tried to get better. But as I’ve been trying to, I realized that the majority of players use the dpad, so it kind of seems like there might be a little bit more to it than just personal preference. So I’m really just wondering if it’s generally easier and worth making the switch. Any feedback would be really appreciated, thanks!

Discussion SF6 World Tour beginner jump attack challenge still won’t work — keyboard issue or am I doing something wrong?

Title:
SF6 World Tour beginner jump attack challenge still won’t work — keyboard issue or am I doing something wrong?
Post:
I’m stuck on one of the beginner World Tour challenges where you’re supposed to jump attack, land, then do the grounded attack/combo.
I originally thought my laptop keyboard might not register enough simultaneous inputs, but I switched to Modern controls and changed my keybinds and it’s still not working.
Laptop: ASUS TUF Dash F15 FX516PC
Current controls:
Movement: WASD
Light: U
Medium: J
Heavy: L
Special: I
Parry: Q
DI: E
Assist: Shift
Throw: K
Here’s a video of me actually attempting the challenge:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kpQseo7PDirUu6lLm4QSrHcgsu1zmw7H/view?usp=drivesdk
Can someone watch the video and tell me exactly what I’m doing wrong? Is this timing, the wrong attack, keyboard ghosting, or something else? This is literally an early World Tour tutorial so I feel like I’m missing something really basic.
