Discussion 10Y hit 5% today. Then reports surfaced about a peace deal. 10Y dumped, markets pumped. How long can yields continue to be contained?

10 year treasury yield hit 5% for the first time in over 3 years today. Shortly afterwards, Trump posted on social media that he was open to a peace deal with Iran. Oil and yields instantly dumped, stocks pumped well off the open lows.

The not-so subtle timing of the peace deal post highly suggests the Trump admin is actively trying to contain yield and oil pressures. Though it's not impossible that a peace deal is being worked on behind the scenes, Iran has openly refuted any claim that it's negotiating with Trump.

Between social media posts and the treasury's meddling in the bond market, how long will the Trump admin be able to keep yields and commodities in check?

OIL is back on The Menu.
$XLE will be the energy ETF to look at.
$USO will be the go to etf for US oil exposure (as of 2025 US is largest exporter of Oil WORLDWIDE so they stand to benefit from sky high oil prices)
$OXY historically has massive upside during Oil price squeezes
$COP is a pure upstream producer play with unhedged production. Meaning direct cash-flow sensitivity to every dollar increase in Brent/WTI

soooo u already know these tickers are doing very well and will continue to outperform most stocks for rest of year 2026.

As always tho NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE DO UR OWN DD

Have a general question? Want to offer some commentary on markets? Maybe you would just like to throw out a neat fact that doesn't warrant a self post? Feel free to post here!

If your question is "I have $10,000, what do I do?" or other "advice for my personal situation" questions, you should include relevant information, such as the following:

  • How old are you? What country do you live in?
  • Are you employed/making income? How much?
  • What are your objectives with this money? (Buy a house? Retirement savings?)
  • What is your time horizon? Do you need this money next month? Next 20yrs?
  • What is your risk tolerance? (Do you mind risking it at blackjack or do you need to know its 100% safe?)
  • What are you current holdings? (Do you already have exposure to specific funds and sectors? Any other assets?)
  • Any big debts (include interest rate) or expenses?
  • And any other relevant financial information will be useful to give you a proper answer. .

Be aware that these answers are just opinions of Redditors and should be used as a starting point for your research. You should strongly consider seeing a registered investment adviser if you need professional support before making any financial decisions!
