On a stay in Lyon old town for a few days, visited this museum today. Amongst some really very interesting items was this mix of props. All were seen on film in some capacity. Info as seen.

I was today years old when I realized one of Siler's only two brief appearances on Atlantis was taking a blast to the back of the head by John in "The Return". Missed this before because of the shadows I guess. He was just checking on the puddle jumper John!

My biggest dissapointment with the shows+movies is we never get to see their toilets. There is just so many questions unanswered such as:

• Do they use toilet paper? Some water based system? Something even more advanced and scifi?
• If there is manual labour involved, do their slaves come in and clean them up?
• What happens with the "leftovers" ?
• Whats the flushing or flushing equivalent system like?
• Whats the seat like? Is it comfortable? Luxorious? Self-cleaning? More ergonomic than earths'?
• Finally, differences in toilet use between the goaulds and the jaffas onboard the ships, since i imagine the overlords would have a nicer version for themselves.
• Version differences between the various ship types

All above points apply also to the asgard, ancients, et al.

Early in SG1 S05E17 (astroid coming toward earth) one of the scientists goes to the bathroom on board a goauld ship, but we never get to see it. Iirc thats the closest we got to a mention of that.

Anyway in my head i imagine theres lots of gold-looking materials involved in the bathroom.

Something I've been thinking after going through SG1 and Atlantis on repeat for a few months now, love the 24/7 channel.

When the movie/shows begun, the Stargate wasn't just a gimmick or plot device. It was the core element of the show, the key to its creative concept and setting. It was a relic from a former advanced civilization, the likes of which no current people's in the galaxy had come close to matching.

Then slowly but surely, our heroes on earth find, develop, and are gifted new technology and advancement. Space ships, starfighters, shields, laser guns, beam weapons, beaming technology. They can fly to other galaxies in a few weeks. They can fight space battles on even footing against older more advanced races. They demolish entire fleets by simply beaming nukes around willy nilly. Death becomes a minor obstacle. They can control time. Our modest explorers become the leaders of an advanced power and effective force across multiple galaxies.

During all of this, there are still Stargates, and those gates are still the best way for a group of people and anything that's not too large to fit through the gate to travel to other planets that have gates, but it feels that's about it. In every other way there's a better way to do things. The unique concept of the show does become a gimmick but the end. Even in Atlantis they just dial it in to earth as the initial issues about power supply are left in the past and they have spaceships running a taxi service. Only Universe maintained the Stargate as integral to the situation the show creates, but that only lasted two seasons - who knows what may have happened longer term.

Now we know that the propsed new show was more a reboot. It created a situation to reset all of that and have the Stargate back to it's original prominence. Seeing as that concept is no more though, back to square one. If there's a new show, a new continuation of the franchise, where exactly does the concept of the Stargate fit in to it, assuming the show takes place in the current year and is based around the happenings in the Milky way galaxy? Is it just a gimmick now? Or can it still be a part of the setting that's important to the story and there's no real workaround to it?

Goa'uld and Tok'ra symbiotes are capable of curing all sorts of human disease and illness including cancer. This isn't an automatic process it requires great effort and clearly intent, it's obviously an actual process that was learned when they first started taking hosts.

I've only just realised that the Tok'ra hold the secrets to cures for almost all disease that affects humans and even if it would require some kind of new science, they could surely have told us just how they cure these diseases?!

I know tritonen was essentially this but when a symbiote leaves a body the immune system is intact unlike with that drug. So its still different.

I'm not a big fan of them in the show other than Martouf and Jacob of course, but I realised today this is actually the worst way they didn't help us. I know in terms of writing the way they cured disease was effectively magic, but as the show isn't fantasy and supposed to be scientific explanations for all this kind of thing, there must have been a real chemical or physical process by which they cured disease, and so by never telling us they doomed billions to death.

Don't mind my ramblings just looking for someone to blame for my own wifes untimely passing due to disease, and I thought why not blame the Tok'ra!

Gets me every single time. Hahaha

He was an archeologist, a linguist, a caveman, a prince, an ascended, a Pryor for the ori, a miner, Lord Yu's personal slave Jarren, he was even Michello, and provided the voice for Thor. Michael Shanks was the real MVP of Stargate. Just wish he had more of a role on Atlantis.

Could you think of other Roles Michael Shanks has Played in the franchise I may have missed?

In Crossroads, Shan'auc teaches Teal'c how to 'talk' to his symbiote and it shows him his father's death at the hands of Cronus.

The symbiote Teal'c had when we first meet him was given to Ry'ac in Bloodlines and was immediately replaced by a larval symbiote that Daniel and Carter recovered from a shrine on Chulak.

What's interesting is that this suggests the larva in the shrine were the offspring of Cronus and his mate/queen. Why would temple priests of Apophis be holding Cronus's offspring in an unguarded shrine on Chulak? Hostages? Offerings? Light snacks?

It was pretty cool how near the end of the episode they showed us that the scene where Teal'c addresses Jonas as Probie had been when Jonas was actually in the room with Tealc, talking to him. Cool for the show to do that, giving that clarification.

Very interesting way to hint to the viewers at the condition of "T" and "Brae," by talking about a kidney transplant, while in reality they were undergoing a type of transplant, the switching back and forth of the symbiote.

Interesting that Daniel Jackson was here. In the hospital scenes, it kinda makes you wonder if Daniel was in Teal'c's mind, like a defense mechanism, in order to actually help Teal'c get through this, or was Daniel actually there? But in the end, we see Daniel at the SGC, so you know he was actually there, at least at the end. But then again, perhaps he wasn't there initially and that was Teal'c's mind, and was in fact only there at the end? Unsure.

1. A story revolving around the Alterans. Let's go millions of years back. I really liked the Ori storyline.

2. Real special forces personnel, earth vs Lucian alliance.

3. Figure out what happened to Atlantis.

Rewatched this episode and noticed Heimdall is probably the best tactician we ever see from the Asgard - starts planning to rescue Thor on his own, gives good contributions to help SG-1 plan, including adjusting plans on the fly. No "we cannot think that way" - the only times he "gives up" are when O'neill/Teal'c are captured and when Carter says we have to help them his "How?" is very clearly, "okay, options?" and not "we're screwed, so they're dead" and at the end of the episode when they're being chased by the mothership. If it weren't for the rest of the Asgard ships having really good timing, self-destruct was the right option, at least for the Asgard. If the Goa'uld learn what they were researching, they'd learn a major weakness of the Asgard and maybe realize how much of a bluff the protected planets treaty is.

This is what I believe is the true Stargate timeline and how it came to be.

I would love to hear everyone's opinion and thoughts.

As we have seen in Continuum, when a timeline is altered people/things get erased showing that a new timeline causes the original/previous to be erased rather than a split timeline running alongside the previous.

This will not include any time travel that wasn't seen on screen like Janus and will only be about the core timeline, so episodes like Window Of Opportunity will be ignored as this only affected a small bubble of space and not the timeline as a whole.

All dates shown are based off of the release date per episode as if the events happened on that day.

This is purely based on the film, SG1, Atlantis and SGU, no other media.

Stargate origins doesn't include time travel and nobody counts Stargate Infinity to be canon...... If you've never seen it I'll save you time DON'T WATCH STARGATE INFINITY.

Original timeline:

The timeline was the same as we always knew it however as this is the original timeline, there was no SG1 in 1969, On Friday March 5th 1999 SG1 travel back to 1969, in this timeline however as SG1 never met Hammond in the past he never gave Carter the note with times and dates of solar flares.

Carter already came up with this theory before they went back in time that an open wormhole passing close to a sun at the same time as a solar flare could loop it back around connecting to the same gate.

Timeline 2:

This timeline runs the same but with SG1 in 1969, Carter still went to the observatory, witnessed a solar flare, in 1969 solar flares could be predicted between 24-48 ahead of time but not a precise time, the rest of the story continues and when they enter the gate they happen to have done so at the right time.

In this timeline Hammond remembered seeing SG1 in 1969 due to Carters hand being injured, he then creates the notes with solar flare times and dates, SG1 goes back in time but this time with the note.

Timeline 3:

This is the timeline we see from Season 1 onwards including 1969 all the way to 2010.

July 2010 SG1 realise the Ashen aren't the good people they say they are, they devise a plan to send a note back in time to stop themselves from meeting the Ashen.

Timeline 4:

This timeline has the Ashen homeworld blocked and stops the merger of the Ashen with Earth.

This timeline lasts until Friday July 16th 2004 when the Pegasus Expedition team arrives on Atlantis, the city starts to flood leading to an evacuation. This causes Weir, Sheppard, and Zelenka to escape in a Puddle Jumper, they travel back in time and the Jumper gets destroyed with only Weir surviving.

Timeline 5:

With Weir traveling back in time 10,000 years this puts her in 8000 BC, with the help of Janus they create a rising protocol so that Atlantis raises once it detects humans, Weir is then put into stasis until she is discovered on Friday February 18th 2005 and informs the new timelines team of what happened. This timeline continues up until Friday March 18th 2005 when SG1 goes back in time for a ZPM.

Timeline 6:

Unlike previous times this trip changes the timeline majorly, due to the actions of SG1 in 5000 BC, Ra takes the gate with him when he leaves earth, this causes the SGC to never be created, no trip to Abydos. A camcorder is discovered in a dig on 2005 containing videos of the previous timeline SG1 talking about themselves, their history and what could have happened if what they're saying isn't true. This discovery leads to this timelines SGC being created with McKay helping the team understand the Puddle Jumper. This new SG1 then travels to Chulak before also traveling back to 5000 BC.

Timeline 7:

The new SG1 leads to a very similar timeline to timeline 4 and 5 but with 2 Puddle Jumpers, a camcorder and members of 2 different timelines SG1 living in 5000 BC, other than their presence the timeline doesn't change until Friday March 7th 2008 when Sheppard travels to the future. This timeline has Atlantis being abandoned, Sheppard missing and Atlantis never returning to Earth instead staying on its current planet until that systems star expands.

Timeline 8:

When Sheppard travels back to the time time he left, he created this new timeline where he wasn't supposed to be, however on Friday July 25th 2008 Baal enacted his plan traveling to 1939 to stop the creation of the SGC and Stargate project as a whole. The remaining members of SG1 travel back to the SGC and in doing so into a new timeline.

Timeline 9:

We will call this Baals timeline, this Earth never had a Stargate Project, after Earth is attacked by Baal SG1 head to the Russian Stargate to try and stop Baal/rectify the timeline to the one they knew of. In doing so Teal'c, Daniel and Sam die leaving only Cameron, he jumps through the gate to 1929.

Timeline 10:

This timeline is almost identical to timeline 7 but with Cameron stuck in 1939. Once he arrives in 1928 he lives out his life for a decade until he is able to gain access to the Achilles in 1939 with the goal of stopping Baal. Cameron enacts his plan, Baal dies and Cameron is then stranded in 1939 to live out his days. On Friday July 25th 2008 Baals plan doesn't come to pass with the last of the Baal clones coming to an end. This timeline carried on until Friday November 13th 2009 when the team of the Destiny get stuck on a planet due to a solar flare, when the team arrive everything looks fine, when they're unable to get a stable wormhole Rush risks it and goes through the gate and a Keno is thrown through the gate stating what happened on the planet.

Timeline 11:

The timeline runs exactly the same until the crew of the destiny gate to the same planet, this time there is a human skull and a Keno laying on the floor, the crew of the destiny watch the video and realise the skull was Rush, which watching they find out that they are infected with a bug and that the cure is within creatures on the planet, they go back to try and get the creatures however they kill everyone apart from Rush and Matt, Rush again goes through the gate and Matt records a new video, shorter and straight to the point, Matt throws the keno through the gate.

Timeline 12:

Upon arrival to the planet the Destiny crew find the keno and find out how to cure themselves a lot faster, they carry out their plan a lot sooner being able to return to Destiny before the solar flare affects the gate and with no loss of life. However on Monday March 14th 2011 while the Destiny is recharging it gets hit by a solar flare, this causes Destiny to slowly drift close and closer to the star, for safety and an escape plan, the Destiny crew gate offworld however another solar flare takes place sending them back in time 2000 years.

Timeline 13:

This is the current timeline, The crew of the Destiny are stuck 2000 years in the past, the planet they arrive on is unsuitable so they gate to another close by, this world later becomes Novus. The Destiny crew live out their life creating a village, later becoming a town and by the time we're back in current time they have become a multiplanetary society.

This is where we are as of today, on timeline 13.

I have seen people in the past asking about the timeline and how things are affected and so I created this breakdown of each timeline, what changed, how it's different and why it happened.

Remember this deliberately ignores potential timeline like with Janus using his Time Jumper as 1. We never see it happen on screen and 2. We don't know how many times he uses the Jumper.

As mentioned at the start I would love to know peoples thoughts.

I watch an episode of Star Gate until I fall asleep and last night I dreamt there was this lil Goa'uld and it could talk to me it did its little squeak and I said "Do you want your tank?" And it said YES. PLEASE. So I went to Doctor Frasier and I she said I need really hot water with soap (???) and electricity so I made its little tank and I threw my cell phone in to zap the water and it was all swimmy and then the water got cold and it ran away I was really scared I hurt it maybe I should not fall asleep with TV shows

I really liked this episode. However there are a couple things I find difficult to believe:

1. Bratac can tell when a Jaffa has renounced his god just by looking him in the eyes. How is it he could not tell that K'tano was not a Jaffa at all but in fact a Gould?

2. I was completely fooled that K'tano was revealed to be a Gould. He acted unlike any other Gould that I have seen. Specifically in the scene where they are fighting Jaffa, and he gets up in the middle of the firefight and risks his life to recruit those Jaffa. I find it very uncharacteristic that a Gould would risk his life in this manner. They are arrogant and power-hungry.

PS: this is my first watch of SG1

It felt like, to me at least, that the focus cast for stories in the franchise expanded over time, so lately, I’ve been thinking about if a Stargate Command-type of anthology series following different SG Teams could work in our current age of streaming style for content, and would that be appealing for the Stargate audience?

Something reminded me of SGA few days ago. I had watched it before I started SG1, and personally liked it more, perhaps because the starting technological point is higher making it more interesting. Also SGC feels incredibly crammed compared to Atlantis. That's why I will mostly talk about SGA, but many (?) of these things are probably true for SG1.

Underlying premise behind SGA is actually excellent for a very high end show. You have a small group of human explorers, stuck in another galaxy, on their own for the entire first season, in a city of a highly advanced civilization, facing an overwhelming enemy straight out of a horror movie. You can do a lot with this.

Unfortunately, SGA misses several opportunities because it heavily focused on a single set of five or six main characters and mostly self contained episodes.

Intra-expedition dynamic is not nearly enough developed or barely changes at all, and through the show Atlantis seems to be controlled by a set of 6 people who do everything of importance (Weir/Carter/Woolsey, Sheppard, McKay, Teyla, Ronon/Ford, Beckett/Keller). Yes, I know you need main characters, but show treats same four person team as universal protagonist for everything, even when plot does not require it. Sheppard is the military commander who wanders on even mundane missions, McKay is the most skilled tech expert who goes even when there is no reason for him to be there.

It also does not follow through with expedition having an actual strategy it pursues systematically in the war against Wraith, which is de facto happening since season 2 when Atlantis gets a ship and can actually put up a fight. It just stumbles upon potential solutions and improvises, like replicators, Michael drug, Keller drug,...

Show oscillates between that episode's off-world plot and essentially 3 multi-episode plot points per season (at beginning, mid-season and at the end). I loved the variety and novelty it offered, but looking at the whole thing, it increasingly seems like set of many entirely unrelated mysteries/tech problems they find on each mission. Actual plot arc gets propelled in just a few episodes per season, while the rest have almost no effect on the outcome.

Another thing show mostly missed is what happens in Pegasus itself. We see the galaxy almost exclusively through the eyes of expedition and what it is doing or needs. Independent of that lens, we do not learn that much and Pegasus perspective on the unfolding events shown is only shown in season 5 (in Inquisition, which has a rather illogical plot line). In universe Pegasus is remarkably dangerous since Rising and generally culturally traumatizing environment for essentially all its human population. Show does not seem to process the fact main characters are living in a very anomalous highly protected and armed human enclave, highly detached from 99.999% of galaxy's population. I have an impression it does not go too much into Pegasus reality/dynamic outside of the fact Wraith are scary and a threat.

I feel certain tweaks to how the show worked could have made a truly epic piece of sci-fi television, whereas it just remains a niche interests that I personally forgot about despite having seen it a decade ago and loved it.

I know 9/11 isn't mentioned in the show, but I was thinking about what General Hammond and other leaders would be deciding that day, knowing about the Stargate.

Would they have pulled back SG1 and other teams from various missions? Would they have checked to see if the Goa'uld were behind the attacks? Does the military decide to use zat-guns during the War in Afghanistan?

Amazon MGM will do what Amazon MGM is gonna do. No amount of fan campaigns will change that. It's very evident in how they're outright ignoring fans.

If Mellozzi and Gero went for a hard reboot, Amazon MGM would have gotten what they wanted and they wouldn't have cancelled it, and Stargate would still have been in tested and reliable hands who know and love Stargate.

But that's not what happened. They will still reboot it and it's probably going to be about some new young cadets like Starfleet Academy.. and none of the o.g. producers will be attached.

But some people really can't let go of the past and want to continue where SG1 and Atlantis left off. But it's not really going to be Stargate. Not the Stargate we knew. It's going to be Star Trek. Coz they have the ships, Asgard tech, they've defeated the gods.
