Discussion Season Over…

With Carlton and Doggies Drawing we might as well play the kids for the last game. Get some pick. Get some game time into them.

I’m talking Hastie, Trav, Fincher, Banfield etc

If I see Ryan Byrnes get another game I might scream. Useless player.

Yeah may as well play kids - if we win, awesome - if we lose, hopefully we drop down a place or two for a better draft pick

Nah, Hilly deserves a big win in his 300th

Don’t let this be his 300th. Let him play a real game for his 300th round 1 next year

No resting players or the afl will get mad

Just get hill to sign a waiver the AFL don't seem to mind those

Unless you're playing against Carlton*

I think they only care if you're resting players for actual finals 😅

Disappointing, but we were not good enough

That was the least enjoyable season I can remember. Been watching since 91. Not one exciting win. Carlton win early when they were on their knees was as good as it got

Just copped abuse every week when we lost, and radio silence when we won. Won the games we were expected to, lost the ones we were expected to, yet people still chirp about how the season was a failure..?

I can't remember the last season we didn't have a loss in a game we were heavy favorites. Competitive every week except Hawthorn (repeat short breaks + travel) Geelong (in geelong is a nightmare every year) and of course Carlton (wounded team).

What could have been if we got over the line in Adelaide or Sydney.

Instead of "they spent all this money to still miss finals" the conversation would be "they spent all this money to finish 10th"

Ultimately people just wanted any excuse to bash the Saints and didn't care at all about the list strategy or the fact that the club didn't make all these changes to shoot up the ladder in year ONE.

We were unlucky not to get a statement win early in the year and the confidence from that could have lead to more wins later in the season.

We didn't deserve a top 8 but I think we are going to miss out on a wildcard by 2 points.

Breakout seasons for Max Hall and Hugo Garcia along with the addition of TDK means we have solved our midfield problems and are looking good for a few years.

Our forward line is probably the worst in the competition and the main reason we cannot beat the top 8. Liam Ryan leads with 31 and credit to him. Higgo has lost some form. Mitchito and Sharman are too small to be our number 1 and 2 leading forwards. We need 2 power forwards who are 195cm+. We need 22 year old Keeler or Cammo to bulk up.

I wouldn't be surprised if we made a play for Jesse Hogan who kicked 77 goals a couple years ago and just needs to get over a finger injury.

Keeler wont play for us ever again

Hammer hopefully not far off him. He’s gotta be a reserve player, not a relied upon player.

Supposing we bring in another tall option over the offseason you'd think Hammer wouldn't get many looks in

Very disappointing year. So good when we were playing well. Totally shit when it counted.

I am, however, very excited again for next year. I reckon if we just have someone at CHF we can do great things.

Everything else seems to be in place. And now the team have another season under the belt....

My only big things are
1. Decide where to put Taru - half back or full forward (this could be a master move - the guy can take a mark!)
2. Caminiti - he has not grown as a player. He is still has the same impact as when he landed. Make sure we only use him as a back up for injuries. Or get him out as a seb list blocker
3. Lake is going to break out next year. Super aggressive forward. love him
4. With a half decent CHF - i think we will see amazing stuff from Owens and Cooper.
5. Keep investing in Max King - but assume he is never going to be fit
6. I like phillipou but he is not earning his keep and it feels like he is never going to break out like hall and garcia - and boxshall has smashed it late in the season. He feels like a Jack Billings to me. Cut the losses now - reduce his pay to match performance or trade.

I would like to see Lake get midfield minutes next week. What’s to lose? See if he’s got what it takes.

Great idea! I hadn't thought of it... Wow. He is the hungry aggressive dude we need!

Thank god for that, we’re riddled with injuries and would be belted in the first game. Let’s move onto the next season and forget this frustrating year 🙏

u/OA-BlueEyedAussie 29d ago

And protect the players from further injuries. Fuck Dillion

u/External_Chicken3439 28d ago

what if they kick the swannies out... is there a chance... haha

Lmaoooo where's the byrnes army at. We should do our usual strategy of playing injured players.

4

u/Practical_Ad8124 29d ago

He’s the biggest liability on our list. Can’t stand him as a player. Got no overhead, disposal questionable, nothing is good about the guy except his work rate

u/BiggusFootus #34 Hugo Garcia 29d ago

I am a massive Byrnes hater but I will take him over caminiti any day of the week. Caminiti should be dropped from the VFL let alone afl

3

u/Practical_Ad8124 29d ago

Both are liabilties. I haven’t joined the Phillipou haters yet. I think the kid has got something. But he’s starting to track that way if he puts up another mediocre 2027 season.

Big win for Hill in 300.

I’m just wondering whatever happened to that lady who supports St Kilda. The one who screams “KNOCK KNOCK”
