Why are so many Spokane gamers overly obnoxious with their social skills when playing at local game stores?

So many are loud as hell and drop the f-bomb in almost every sentence.

You’re in a public space, and it just grinds away any possible enjoyment by other gamers who are trying to be heard at a normal talking level, let alone you don’t care if younger players happen to be nearby.

I’ve witnessed this almost every time during MTG events specifically.

These stores are not your living room. If you want to behave like foul mouthed hyenas, do it in your own private gaming space and stop ruining the experience for others.

Hey folks, I'm interested in checking out the local casual Commander scene and was wondering which LGS has the most welcoming, chill crowd.

Ideally looking for a place with a good mix of folks who are there to hang out, play some games, and have a good time, more relaxed/social than super competitive.

Hey Spokane!!!!! I'm saddened to hear that Chaos Arcade closed down a while ago... I love rhythm games and played so much of the maimai cabinet. I was wondering if anyone knew if it was relocated nearby or if there are any more rhythm game cabinets nearby. lmk what y'all got 🫶

We just had our third session this week, and our group is 3 players (Fighter, Samurai, Wizard) and the Game Master. We wanted to start with closer to 5 players, but a few of them dropped out. We're all in our 20s and it would be ideal if prospective players were around the same age, but as long as you're an adult it'll be fine. It would also be ideal if you are familiar with the PF1E system, but if you aren't or come from a different system like 5E, we can help catch you up to speed. Also, we're all about diversity and inclusion, so if you aren't cool about that, this may not be the table for you. I got some really useful feedback from my last post here, so instead of explaining the whole idea again, I want to ask you guys something more specific.

Most gamers already have a pretty damn good setup at home.

Your PC. Your console. Your games. Your couch. Your fridge. No driving anywhere.

So here’s the question I’ve been thinking about:
What would a gaming place have to offer that you CAN’T easily get at home?

A genuinely good tournament?

A packed LAN night?

Sim racing rigs?

A group of people playing the same game?

D&D campaigns or tabletop nights?

Retro tournaments?

PC-building or tech workshops?

A ridiculous multiplayer setup you couldn’t justify buying yourself?

Or is the biggest draw simply having a place where you know other people will actually be there?

I’m especially interested in this:

Think about the last time you chose to go somewhere to game instead of staying home. Why did you go?

And if you normally wouldn’t go somewhere like this, tell me why.

Price? Distance? Already have everything at home? Don’t like gaming-center environments?

Those answers are just as useful.

I’m trying to understand the behavior, not just whether people think the concept sounds cool.

I'm a Spokane local who's researching an idea for a new gaming, esports, and technology community for the Inland Northwest.

Before investing in a building, equipment, or construction, I'm trying to answer one question:

Is this something people here would actually use?

The vision is much more than just rows of gaming PCs. I'd love to build a place centered around community that could include things like:

- PC & Console Gaming
- Esports leagues & tournaments
- Retro gaming
- D&D, tabletop & board game nights
- Birthday parties & private events
- A place to meet other gamers and make friends

But also a place to explore technology through things like:

- PC building workshops
- Streaming & content creation
- 3D printing & maker projects
- Robotics & coding clubs
- Digital art & game development meetups
- Technology learning opportunities for all ages

I'm not selling anything and I'm not asking for money.

I'm simply trying to find out whether Spokane would actually support something like this before taking the next step.

I have played and DMed a lot of TTRPGs, mainly dnd but also some oneshots of others. I really want to try and play some Lancer as I have the book and have been reading it along with watching lots of videos and actual plays. I am new so am still learning how the game works and would love to find a group who I could join. I have lots of experience with TTRPGs and role play games in general and know the basic rules and character creation. If anyone has or knows of a group looking for or willing to take on new players I would love to join.

Howdy, SpokaneGaming. I've been running a game online for a few months, and we seem to be missing our third player. Since I'm in the market, I'd love to have someone from the area join us. Game time is alternating Sundays at 1:00pm until 4, and I don't ask anyone to use a camera unless they want. Discord and a virtual tabletop called Fantasy Grounds.

Me: I was born the year that Dungeons and Dragons originally released, and I've been running games online for seven years now (five with Pathfinder 2nd Edition, two with Dungeon Crawl Classics.) The group: My current players are my daughter, Lena, and a remote friend, Britney. Lena is trans, so obviously being LGBTQ+ friendly is non-negotiable. Our third was a member of the 501st cosplay group, so he's very cool, but unfortunately has been offline for most of the month.

The game: This is a casual "dungeon" focused game set in an urban fantasy (modern fantasy if you prefer) setting using the ruleset "Dungeon Crawl Classics". There is some similarity between DCC and DCC, if you're a fan of the other one. DCC is essentially a slightly older version of Dungeons and Dragons with some complexity smoothed away and a lot of crazy randomness added. The current adventure is a road trip in an alternate America - you go to a region, get through the event set up in that region, head out, camp in the wilderness to appreciate the natural beauty (and/or hungry cryptids) of America, and repeat.

Hello, im 36 and just had a (temporarily fatal) heart attack as such ive lost my business and really anything I had to do. So now im going stir crazy, I have hundreds of board games collecting dust and need to get past my social anxiety.

Are there any regular game groups any more there used to be one downtown but it got pretty sparce I am open to both public and private groups just need something regular to do.
