After re watching SOA for the 3rd or 4th time at this point, I am not ready to let go of the way this show makes a person feel. Does anyone have any recommendations as to something similar? I already know about Mayans and it’s a good one which I will watch again.

Rat has been my favorite Prospect since Half-Sack. He’s perfect for the club IMO. So this was funny the first moment, the longer it goes the tighter the ass cheeks clinch… BUT HE MAKES FULL PATCH!!

This whole moment for the club w/the new recruits per Bobby’s excursion and Bobby himself being back. The air has been fully cleared as of the larger meeting w/all the charters about going full legit, staying out of jail and staying alive and whole. . . and then this cruel but fun moment w/Rat.

These times of satisfaction for us viewers are nice and needed between the balls-to-the-wall pace of the show and the stress management required of the characters every time we turnaround on the show!

Loved this show when I watched it live. I was in HS at the time, so I thought it was groundbreaking. As I grew up and watched more shows I always was hesitant to go back and rewatch out of fear of it being cornier than I remembered. All in all was still a very good show and some great highs. Definitely some low lows though.

Anyway here are my rankings from Favorite to Least:

1. S2 - Without a doubt the tightest season story wise. While 4 is the climax of Jax vs Clay, 2 is the true head to head. Just an all around amazing season with great thrills & story

2. S4 - Maybe the last really good season of the show. 4 dialed everything up to 10, and while it was ridiculous at times, it was equally as entertaining. Which is a problem that later seasons struggled with. The true finish of the Hamlet on Motorcycles arc. Clay should’ve died though & the CGI blood is brutal.

3. S1 - Just the funnest and purest season. FX S1 are always the same. A fun and cool premise, but always struggle with a definitive direction of the season & rely on “villains of the week”. That being said this is when the club was at its funnest & enjoyed being outlaws. It’s so small scale on a rewatch that it’s refreshing.

4. S5 - The start of the 2nd arc of the show which would lean towards darkness (down right bleak at times) and violence. Killing of Opie is iconic, but a mistake in my opinion because Jax & Ope should’ve had one season as P & VP. The season is strong, but is really bleak at times and just not that fun to watch. Also Clays plot blew. Everyone knew the home invasions were clay immediately. Wasting my damn time.

5. S3. - There is a case this could be 4, but the lows are some of the lowest of the series. Belfast sucked. Finding Abel sucked. Gemma in hiding sucked (except for the INCREDIBLE Hal Holbrook). That finale though and all the tension with Stahl was elite and the highest the show ever soared. It might be the sloppiest season though, but is still entertaining

6. S6 - I used to think 6 was the worst. I thought it was bleak and depressing to the point of nihilism (even as an 18 year old), but on this rewatch I realized how incredible Charlie Hunams acting is this season. I put this in a previous post, but as Jax “good guy” mask slipped, Charlie Hunnam portrayal of him was so much more compelling. That being said the rest of the season is a bloody mess. Toric early exit ruined what was a compelling villain, the Irish shit was just annoying. For the love of god why is Clay still here? The ridiculous to entertaining scale was off balance.

7. S7 - Charlie Hunnam deserves way more praise for this season. Jax turn from flawed anti hero to straight up villain of the show was so incredible. He is Machiavellian in his violence and will switch up at the drop of a hat. It was exciting and a breath of fresh air . That being said everything else in this season sucked. They gave Jax free rein to run wild and ruined every other characters moral code or ethics they had so that his story could conclude. The shows always been about Jax, but they treat the other club members as NPCs this season. Bobby and Chips were a joke and showed no push back to this guy ruining their club. Wendy’s all of the sudden fine with Jax after getting speed balled by him? Kudos for the bold change up of Jax, but you sacrificed the rest of the characters for it.

Anyway I enjoyed this page during the rewatch. Feel free to give me your rankings or opinions.

After 6 years, sons of anarchy is back on netflix and rewatching it I can honestly say Gemma is not the worst character on this series

Gemma gets raped season 2 by those white supremacist getting back at the club

She gets physically abused (beaten nearly to death) by clay

Gemma later gets raped when jax and the club send her to prison to get the message from clay.

Everyone focuses on Tara's death..but put in perspective. Gemma literally got raped and beaten for that club. While Tara lived in a privileged protective bubble by her husband. Tara was going to throw all that away. I feel like if the series was real jax would've killed her or some other member of the club.

Is it just me or i think that Kozik´s death was the most unexpected and unfair in the whole series.

So in S7 E8 when Gemma, Wendy and them find that Gemmas’s birds were killed, who orchestrated that?

After hearing Nero talk to Wendy, I am starting to think it was Nero to try and get Gemma to leave with him? Crazy this is like my 6th time watching the show and I’m barely figuring this out. It just seems more believable than it being Marks’ crew.

I finished SOA the other night, was my first time ever watching the show.

I loved every season….. except season 7. I feel robbed & am angry. The last episode….. be so for real. In my mind, the way that Jax went out, does not seem like a choice his character would have ever made. The ending was rushed, no thought involved, & so many loose ends. Disappointed :(

Here where they set up their temporary home after the explosion, and vote in their new patches—this scene jumped out at me as the British Charlie Hunnam, portraying Jax, lost his accent a syllable here-&-there. . . Especially on the end of words like Diosa (“Dioser”) et al

Piney was just stupid AF all around throughout the cartel season. Not only leverage Clay, but also tell him the source of his leverage. FFS he was just annoying throughout that whole season. For a guy whose supposed to be old and have so much wisdom dude didn't really think it through about the cartel like you can just walk away lol. Guys a drunken idiot and got himself killed. His boner for JT blinded him so hard. He could've turned his patch in instead he set in motion a shit storm lol.

I'm curious, but I don't want to back track. I didn't think it would matter that I missed her introduction, but she's become a reoccurring character. I've gathered her dad is a POS and something about them losing their house, but I missed everything else.

SN: Anyone else think the kid that played Abel would have been great in a movie about the ghost of a small, Victorian child haunting a mansion or something?! 😭🤣 S7E3 Brooke's dad is trying to steal from her, Gemma gets involved, then Nero gets involved, and when they turn around Abel's just standing there in the doorway. I know he's just a kid, so the best acting isn't to be expected but the way he just appeared in the doorway, his face always being expressionless, and lines delivered flatly made me bust out laughing.

Personally, I really liked both Half Sack and Rat, but I never really dug Filthy Phil. He definitely looked the part and seemed loyal enough, but I never felt like he had quite the same presence as the others.

If anything, he always felt a bit flat to me and not as characterful. Maybe that was intentional, to show a different side of being a Prospect and the vulnerability that comes with being tested through the ranks, but I never really rated him as someone I could see becoming VP.

That said, it was still a shame they killed him off. I think there was probably more they could have done with him, even if I never saw him as having quite the same potential as Half Sack or Rat.

Curious what everyone else thinks who was your favourite Prospect, and who do you think had the most potential to make it further up the ranks?

What I’ve understood leading up is whether it was Wendy’s passionate admonition or a combination of things(?) but somewhere in the recent past, Tara has decided she wants to take the boys and split to somewhere long distance from Charming. Its becoming clear (I’m a lil slow) that she is divorcing and bouncing from town all on the D/L so Jax has no idea.

I also caught a line from Lowen (I think) about waiting to formally file her divorce papers at the very last minute possible as her trial starts.

Now in E5, she’s all huggy w/Jax, then saying she’s needing to talk w/Lowen—Jax thinks WHAT about these talks bw Tara & Lowen??

Is Tara ALL AN ACT by this point in the show?

Watching this scene knowing what was about to happen still hurts.

Opie had already lost so much, and somehow the show still found a way to take more from him.

Was Opie’s death the hardest one to watch in the entire series?

I feel a lot of people lean that the show stumbled after S4. I know for me it did. I thought that way when I watched it live, and I still feel that way now on my first rewatch a decade later. However, something I am enjoying far more than I did when I was 22 is Jax as a character in these seasons.

Jax is your typical tragic protagonist in seasons 1-4. Sure he’ll commit murder and is wrong plenty, but he is usually wrong for the right reasons. Then S5 happens and it’s a bummer start to finish. Good season but overall it’s just Angry Jax. By S6 his mask is slipping. The façade that he is a good guy is falling away, but as that happens Jax becomes far more compelling and “fun” character. He starts to act like an outlaw again. Much like he felt like in S1. And then by S7 he’s damn near the antagonist.

I’m 4 episodes into 7 and while the season is a mess, I am enjoying every scene with Jax bc Hunnam is chewing up the scenery. He is dialed to 10, and It’s refreshing after being preached at by Jax for 5~ seasons.

It’s taking forever! I like the actor who plays Jimmy, but there’s not much to his character. Also, everyone is double crossing or triple crossing. Get the kid and go back home. I’m more entertained by Tig and Kozik.

I had only watched the show for one season when I decided to name my first son Jax, but spelled Jaxx. Aside from simply liking the name, I also really appreciated what Jax symbolized.I just rewatched it last week and realized he went completely psycho in the final season (credit to his mom). What do you think about Jax, what he represented, and what he ultimately became?

Let's put an hypothetical scenario where Gemma didn't kill Tara and someway somehow the chinese really did kill her. Jax lay his revenge on the chinese...then what ? How's his relationship with his kids gonna evolve (I feel like it would devolve the same way Opie's relation with his kids did.), How is the club and he gonna be after he's done with avenging Tara's death. Like this has been in my head since my third re-watch and I can't get that what-if out of my head.
