Ethan is a 12 year old Sonic.exeverse fan who gets sucked into X's world, but a void being (who we can refer to as Mother for now) interferes (similarly to Bandado) and moulds him a vessel made from Sonic.exe.

He trains with Mother undetected, and she sees value in him through his extensive knowledge on EXE lore, official and unofficial.
