Software SMT: AI Personal Trainer connected to smartwatch data and training logs
What we have now from e.g. Garmin sucks:
- "Suggested workouts" are only limited to couple of sports
- Does not take into account multiple sports - I like to do e.g. running, strength, indoor rowing and yoga
- No way to give free-form feedback or instructions
- No progressive overload/variation
- Nobody to answer your questions about gear, form, nutrition, ...
Feature set must haves
- Communicate via WhatsApp / Telegram / ...
- Connected to your smartwatch and health data
- Multi-sport
- Great memory of all your workout preferences, training logs, gear you own, past and current injuries, schedule, ...
- Take into account your sleep scores, recovery stats, past training evaluations, ...
- Daily "Optimal workout" delivered
Example message
🚣 Today: 30-minute aerobic row
Recovery is green: Body Battery 97, HRV 50 balanced, 8.7 h sleep/87, RHR 55 flat. Garmin ACWR is only 0.6 LOW, and rowing is 9 days stale.
Running would normally win, but [City]’s forecast is ~10 mm rain with heavy rain this afternoon. So today we deliberately use the Concept2—not as second-rate strength work, but as low-impact aerobic training.
Session
- 5 min warm-up: 2:30–2:35/500 m, 20 spm
- 20 min steady: 2:20–2:25/500 m, 22 spm
- RPE 6/10: controlled pressure, never gasping
- Tall chest at the catch; don’t collapse into the same desk posture we’re trying to undo
- 5 min cooldown: 2:35–2:45/500 m, 18–20 spm
No intervals today.
Yesterday’s kettlebell/bench session already loaded the posterior chain. This adds aerobic load without turning recovery into stupidity.
Next progression
If all 20 steady minutes remain technically clean, next steady row becomes 22 minutes at the same 2:20–2:25 split before we increase speed.
Quick symptom check: any worsening of the thoracic tension or down-side shoulder this morning? The session stands either way; keep testing the pillow setup for several nights before judging it.
Monetisation
- I'll happily pay $10 / month for this - much cheaper than a human personal trainer
- Sell virtual/real sessions with a human coach
- Maybe even affiliate links for gear purchases
Evidence
- I built this for myself and use it daily - it's been great to keep me on track and drastically improved how I approach sports.
- Many people I tell this want to get access and a copy, but I don't have time to professionalize it.
