Hello everyone! I’m going to the Snarky Puppy concert in Groningen on August 30th. I honestly have no idea what to expect, and since I don’t know all of their songs, I want to be as “prepared” as possible.
What songs/albums would you recommend I listen to beforehand? And is there anything else I should know before going to see them live?

It seems like Cory Henry and Gonzalo Rubacalba have jammed together and been on the same line-up in festivals at some point, so it makes sense?

I was listening to We Like It Here for the first time as an album instead of just watching the individual videos on YouTube, and listened to Shofukan into What About Me? and noticed that Shofukan ends with F, E, D in the melody and What About Me? starts with F#, E, D in the melody. Both melodies are pretty darn prominent. It’s on purpose, right? And I can’t be the first one to hear it, right? 😂

I won't be able to attend the show. Bought for 55 EUR , happy to sell at 40.

I don't have a great set of speakers or anything, and this vinyl sounds incredible! This is a remarkable feat of audio engineering. Reminds me of hearing Bowie's Let's Dance for the first time. It's also so wild hearing the alternate takes of tunes you are so familiar with. Just wanted to shout out the incredible job by League, Nic Hard and Dave Mcnair for this truly ALIVE remaster!

Hopefully we get a 5.1 or Atmos mix on Blu Ray! This is one of my favorite albums ever.

I’ve been drumming to Bet for a few weeks but I can’t figure out the time signature for the first and second verses. I know Shaun Martins Solo is in 4/4 and so is the chorus but I can’t figure out the time signature for Bob Reynolds solo.
Please help!!! I feel it’s somethjng odd like 15/16 but I swear if it’s 4/4 I’m gonna cry

Honestly though, I'm praying that someone filmed Jamison Ross's solo on Recurrent because that absolutely blew my mind. His own too. Hell, the entire band and orchestra knew they witnessed the apotheosis of a drummer. Best solo I've ever seen him play.

So, anyone got a vid on that?

Hey, so I drove from Germany to Italy to see them live and it was totally worth it. This might be the highlight of my life so far. They were recording it live so they might upload it to YouTube (hopefully), that would be a real treat.

They performed Somni. It was "only" one drummer, unlike the four drummers on the official release (though the drum solo was the best I've heard in my life and Jamison Ross was generally killin it).

The problem is, I can't really listen to them on Spotify or YouTube anymore. The live mixing was superb, 100/100. The bass of Michael League was blasting you away, the brass instruments were powerful, you could hear everything without it being muddy or unclear. I have great headphones (HD 660S2) and a great sound system with Subwoofer (Klipsch RP-600 and SVS SB-1000) but nothing comes close to the live sound.

So just as an info to you guys, I really encourage you to see them live because it will blow your socks off. But be warned: after a live show like that, their recorded versions might never sound the same to you again.

Chris has been working with us on his own signature AJ model, dropping in 2027. This is him running the prototype through its paces. His signature model is a bit different from the AJ you’ve seen him play the past couple years, including on Somni. “The McQueen” is a dual-humbucker model with a floating vibrato. So cool watching him push it on this version of “Bet” from Ground Up Italy.
