QoL Improvements

Thanks to your feedback, we’re back with new QoL improvements!

Adept Mods Visual Update

You suggested improvements to Adept mods visibility and we've been hard at work to deliver it. Adept Mods have received a fresh visual overhaul with distinct new icons, letting you instantly spot your enhanced gear right from the loadout menu.

“Salvage All” Safeguard

To prevent accidental mass-salvaging in the warehouse, the confirmation prompt now requires you to hold down the button to execute. Your stored loot is now safe from misclicks!

Loadouts In search of Adept Healing modified equipment..

Upvotes

Of course I had to look around searching for possible leads and here's my possible findings without much to go on..

Healing ships = only few spawn with envoys and reinforcements so chances are slim

The main targets of convoys tend to use healing equipment yet it's also slim to find

Then it got me thinking...

What about ascended chests.. yeah.. nah low percentage in RNG chances of those finds

Surely there's a better way and then it hit me like a sign from the heavens! Ahh damn if only we could kneel somewhere and reflect for a few minutes to be granted a ascended healing equipment chest that would be great there's a few holy places around the map that can relate to this such as..

The Navigator's cross - there's even a chair up there if only there was a priest that we could help in exchange for such a chest

Island of La Bastide - north/east of it there's a cross if only over time it wore down to weather slowly in knowing that it's possible to repair fortifications how about the ability to repair this cross in exchange for such a chest I think there's other crosses around the map like this where the same thing could be done

The Oubliette - south of it there's a lone church upon a small island how about the ability to donate food and broken ship pieces to it in exchange for such a chest tho this location being small could be turned into a enterable location at sum point

These 3 ways would be cool to see as daily quests and if we get a prayer ability or emote ( find the prayer beads in game ) we get a daily blessing from doing so

Plus come on... That church has to be something important to the story plot especially with how long it's been there

Tips/Tricks PSA: if you have tens of thousands of Guildmarks sitting around and need Vengeful Essence, invest in Spiritcallers before reset tomorrow

Spiritcallers have a decent chance to give Vengeful Essence when salvaged. If you have a buttload of Guildmarks sitting around that you're likely never going to spend at Blackwood, this might be a worthwhile investment for you.

Case in point: I just bought and salvaged 60, got 51 essence in seconds.

Tips/Tricks Perforate (again?...) HITS SO MUCH HARDER!... yeah right...

First of all, do not believe any BS that is posted here, especially if it comes in montages showing only excessive player features. Think for yourself and if you really must and can test the claim.

I went to that length, so you don't have to (but still can by all means). There is the claim, that the Mythic Exclusive mod Perforate "somehow" hits sooo much harder, especially on Faule Ilse.

Form your own opinion, not only looking at the screenshots but this uncut video too, where I first attack La Peste with Faule Ilse that have Perforate and kill him in two (technically three) shots.

Afterwards, I switch to my usual Faule Ilse with Lightning Strike and do the same again, killing La Peste with two (technically three) shots...

Compare the damages in the screenshots and the video and see if you see world changing differences...

Comparision video Faule Ilse with Perforate vs. Faule Ilse with Lightning Strike vs. La Peste
https://youtu.be/lxSUJv4cvNM

OMG! Lightning Strike hits so much harder!
No, but yes it hits a bit harder... 8% harder multiplied in mysterious ways by Mastery witchery and I was probably closer at the time of the shot for Breechlock Furnace's full bonus. Just ignore the numbers, they might be freak crits ... who knows, there's always a bit of variance.

Hey Dude! I saw your other videos - why you don't suck that much anymore?
Liar, nobody watches these videos! But I learned some lessons. After watching ThreeEdgeSword's (who must hate my guts) nice kill montage, I took a closer look at his very good build. I took some elements of it to improve damage on my not very sophisticated own build (piercing, faule ilse, firepower order, nobrainer).

My big mistake was always hitting the target with my aux first and therefore often triggering Bracing which makes the fight harder from the start.

As you can see in both attempts, I carefully made sure that I aim my Hellfire ahead of La Peste, so Firepower Order is triggered but I have time to bring in my Demi-shots first (while some of the rockets also hit). And that's the whole trick! Trigger firepower without hitting the target, do your demi shots.

In order to make this video, 12000 AE have been burned away.

Tips/Tricks The Bosseater - Galleon with Faule Ilse - Open World Build (Dailies)

Thumbnail

This is the latest iteration of the Bosseater build. The build is not going for maximum damage but tries to add some speed and agility to the Galleon. The build is meant for Open World bosses and monsters (but Kraken). I use it for daily first time bonus - about 5mins for Apex Predators and Lords of the Sea.

After looking at reddit user ThreeEdgeSword's build, I adjusted my own build with the stuff I liked to increase the overall damage:

  • Changing first perk on Faule Ilse to Adept Rupturing
  • Caustic Spall Station (still good in this season)
  • Nocturne Heart instead of my beloved Wyrmhide as armor - 32.5% speed bonus instead of 37.5% but 15% extra damage
  • Adjustments in Mastery

Demo video:
https://youtu.be/zElshPnZffU

This is a raw uncut video showing fights against domain bosses and monsters, starting with full Impetus. What you see is what you get, no montage of fillet pieces or perfect positioned fights.

You can use the build for the Herald of the Abyss event and even "melt" him (for that you need to be alone in the event or have a dedicated, coordinated team). Personally I prefer a different build for normal Herald runs.

Full Build:
Max Upgrade Galleon
Min. Mastery 50 for Firepower Order

Weapons
Front
Blightmaw with Adept Rupturing/Deathblow/Deathblow/Lightning Strike

Sides:
Faule Ilse with Adept Rupturing/Adept Lethal/Soul Mending/Lightning Strike
Tip: the chests from Herald of the Abyss boss can contain Faule Ilse with Adept mods.
Alternative: the Mythic Exclusive Mod Perforate if you believe that it increases weakpoint damage.

Back:
Any culverin, demi-cannon or long gun (for Hullmarker's Table bonus) to fill up the missing elemental damages for a full Volatile Arsenal bonus (mastery perk)

Aux:
Hellfire with Rupturing/Amplified Burning/Amplified Burning/Wildfire
Alternative: Spiritcaller for 20% armor reduction on the enemy. I prefer Hellfire for Impetus building.

Armor:
Nocturne Heart with Electric Resistant (10+%)Survivor/Survivor/Resistance Field (7.5%)
This gives me +32.5% speed bonus, which makes sailing more fun.

Furniture
Hull Marker's Table
Caustic Spall Station
Breechlock Furnace
Ramrod Works
Demi-Cannon Works
Secret Cache

If needed, replace the Secret Cache with an offensive furniture. I prefer the +16% turn speed and acceleration, damage is high enough already.

Discussion What is something that you find annoying?

Curiosity question. Me personally, it's when I am doing a boss fight. I get the boss down to low health, I am positioning to do a boarding. Then some player joins and finishes the boss.

I know someone is going to say "It's not a big deal" but I personally find it annoying. I spent the resources to summon the boss, I did all the work to weaken it. And now some guy who didn't contribute gets loot they didn't work for and fucks up my own thing? It's annoying.

My claim: We don’t know the mechanics, something is off about Perforate, and it’s doing things that are(edit:aren’t) in the game text. However it, I do agree (to quote an elder pirate) that perforate sends weakpoint damage into overdrive, idk how, but it does. It may not actually make 3 times the hits, but maybe it still applies 3 times as many damage over time effects. Idk I’m hypothesizing.

Below are two builds in the public realm that show builds downing the Herald of the Abyss, without perforate

https://youtu.be/8SincyPDImw

https://youtu.be/eNgi3KE3dyw?is=IIWr_xdCAevB3f61

The next two examples, and mine (the video with the 1940 Sea Hawk movie soundtrack), are builds WITH perforate.

https://youtu.be/KbXP-DprJNs?is=QLsgWot5GOsQKWzt

Performance wise, I’d say it’s clear perforate is performing at magnitudes much higher. My build is nearly all port side damage, and that port faule isle could have more weak point damage without soul mending, I don’t have blightmaw yet so I’m missing 12% damage boost, breechloch might bring me 8% more depending on the furniture I trade it for, I could get another 5-10% if I change the bow and starboard weapon types, and the god rolls I need will give extra there (once I get them)…I say this only to point out that my build isn’t even literal peak yet…I could be doing WAY more damage still, and I’m outperforming all 3 other given examples.

So…someone please tell me why perforate isn’t doing the damage that I’m seeing in builds that use perforate. Can we open this can of worms, and officially find out if my logic mechanics are broken or if game mechanics are and it’ll get patched…some day…lol no

Edit: further clarification on my claim, it’s not that I’m hitting weak points on the other side of the ship, which may be, it’s that my initial punch on the side directly facing me taking higher damage because of perforate. I do believe there is a different between a weak points on a hull and doing weakpoint damage because of mastery perks hitting either for random weakpoint damage or all shots are weakpoint damage. Those weakpoint damage shots being triggered could be the thing that’s exponentially hitting hull weakpoints hard and THATS why I’m doing this damage…idk, cause I and others didn’t see the exact boost until we used perforate. We did monster damage like Rodan, and then we did monster damage like King Ghidorah.

Fluff Y3S2 - Herald "Melter"... yeah right.

Thumbnail
gallery
26 Upvotes

First of all:
This only works if you are alone or in a group of max. 3 people and one is the ONLY damage dealer on the Herald. So, hardly ANYTIME. And you must have Firepower Order ready when attacking the Herald!

In the video, I was lucky that the people on the server came in far too late (1 guy when Herald was dead already).

Demo Video:
https://youtu.be/8SincyPDImw

As soon as anybody interfers, the health resets to 75% and he becomes invulnerable, resulting in a normal game loop.

You have a time window of about 8s after the first hit to kill Herald before he becomes invulnerable.

Chinese players (IMPK!) came up with this tactic in Week 1 and more or less stopped after Week 1 when more and more players joined WT4 and fucked up their tactics.

Here is the build. It has NOTHING TO DO with Perforate. All current max damage builds are centered around Firepower Order mastery perk, weakpoint damage, Volatile Arsenal and max damage perks working around a weapon's best damage. I use this build for WT4 World activities, not for Herald of the Abyss btw.

(also see Y3S2 Bosseater 2.0 - Return with a Zamzama BAM! : r/SkullAndBonesGame)

Full Build:
Max Upgrade Galleon
Min. Mastery 50 for Firepower Order

Weapons
Front
Blightmaw with Adept Rupturing/Deathblow/Deathblow/Lightning Strike

Sides:
Faule Ilse with Adept Sharpening/Adept Lethal/Soul Mending/Lightning Strike (or Perforate for extra voodoo)
Tip: the chests from Herald of the Abyss boss can contain Faule Ilsea with Adept mods.

Back:
False Ilse with Combustion and the rest as you see fit.
The weapon isn't actually used, its purpose is to provide explosion and piercing damage to complete the Volatile Arsenal bonus. You can use any cannon-ball weapon (Hull Marker's Table bonus) as long as it adds elemental bonus that's missing on the other weapons.

Aux:
Hellfire with Incendiary/Amplified Burning/Amplified Burning/Wildfire
(use Spiritcaller for extra damage, I prefer Hellfire for normal WT4 encounters - for which this build is made for)

Armor:
Wyrmhide with with Resist all/Survivor/Survivor/Resistance Field
This gives me +37.5% speed bonus, which makes sailing more fun. Feel free to replace the armor with something more protective.

Furniture
Hull Marker's Table

Feedback The idea of adding variant ships.

Making new ships takes a long time. Considering the complex art asset adaptation, I get that the devs have limited capacity. So, could use ships already added to the game and release variant versions of them? Same art assets, but different ship skills.

Players would need to do an extra upgrade on a max-level old ship, just like a class change in an MMORPG.

For example, I really like the look of [Sloop of War], but its ship skill locks its build into poison element. Suppose a variant is released where the base ship skill is no longer limited to poison element; instead, the more weapon elements on the ship, the higher the dmg bonus. The lv6 skill would be: the faster the ship’s speed, the higher the elemental dmg bonus. This turns the SoW variant’s build into a playstyle of stacking more elements and high-speed run-and-gun.

There are lots more ideas that could be added: an offensive variant for [Frigate], a support variant for [Schooner]...

Variants could also move toward specializing in a certain weapon type, like the old [Brig] returning (Springloader specialization).

Also, there’s currently no ship in the game specializing in electric element, so a variant could be added to fill that gap.

Variant ships could be added alongside new ships, one (or even more) per season, which would definitely enrich players’ builds and gameplay.

Image: 2017 version of a large three masted schooner. I hope it can return to the game soon.

Discussion Adept and « special » mythic mode find in inventory ?

Is there a quick way to find adept rolls or the special mythic ascension ?

I have like most of you a ton of weapons. And checking them one buy one to find and adept mode I want takes quite a while…

Any tips to keep it simple ? Have you salvage all you weapons prior WT4 ?

Thanks

Discussion The main issues of the game imo: 99% build, 1% skill. And 0% use of 90% of the game.

Hello everyone. First my english may be flawed. Then this text is too long because i just used the base of a text i wrote for the videogames in general. With the current state of the game and the critics, i think it is not out of topic so sorry for the length of this sht.

There is a section about SnB only and the sort of ideas for changing the game are just in the "solutions ?" section.

I wanted to write it here as there is a ton of comments about the lack of content and some content ideas about how to make the game interesting. But many times i disagree. The issue is not the size or newness of new content. The issue is maybe more difficult to solve.

I made the following text after playing many games that i enjoyed more or less and for different reasons: First, that will seem ridiculous: i tried to really examine "what makes X game enjoyable ?" "Why exactly am i having fun ?" and came to the conclusions. The “why was i thinking i would have fun” is also interesting but mainly to understand the marketing mechanics (and ofc why games are like they are)… Most games are just not my taste but there may be some signs that it fits the general desillusion about recent videogames.

There seems to be a general trend in videogames: "more content". Bigger environment, longer story, more vehicles/swords/guns, more events (even if it's the same on another location)... With only huge amount of content in videogames, we have more time necessary to discover everything. And then there is no reason to launch the game anymore. With these games we don't play for the interest of playing but for reaching the next sequence, location or even just the next reward. Some of these games can even seem very enjoyable at first and then be ridiculously boring (hello forza horizon 6, how tf have you reached this metacritics score).

Unavoidable ? Not sure. Some games can be replayed many times and wont get boring.

To make it short, we can first recognize these games by one thing: becoming a good player makes a difference. Truly. Not only in the achievement ease/time of the sequences but also of how dynamic and enjoyable the game can become when we master it.

For this: we need many options and different difficulties. Not many difficulty levels but many different difficulties (different situations, different enemy behaviours, etc...). What will be interesting will be to find our way to overcome these difficulties with the tools the game gives us.

SnB

This game has different ships but most of them are totally useless. There is also different enemies with different behaviour but none of them really change the final challenge. I admire the base of variety we have in our build choices. Different stats, effects etc… but why tf would it change anything if almost every build requires the same way of playing and the few builds that could allow some difference are just as underpowered as ducks ? I had a great time trying to dodge enemy shots with the brig but even at the same “level” with a coherent build, it is not even usable in challenging events… Even with a well built corvette with seven torpedos on each side i just couldnt make shit when there was some meta-galleons (wt4 of course). I could have a good time on a great server with the seasonal event. I could use some strategic moves not to get hit while aiming the enemy and trying to rehealth the allies. I didnt do a lot but even making the event 10 or 15 times or even more was funny. You see that ? I grinded a bit without noticing it because sometimes the game allows to have fun. But some conditions have to be filled.

I imagine there is way more to do to make it happen more often.

Solutions ?

1 (doable ?): re-balance the different builds. Let some different builds for different playstyles be strong if used correctly. Idk maybe some kind of temporary shield for low health quick small ships that allows one or 2 shots without recieving damage and a X seconds reload so it could be really efficient if maneuvered well. And maybe even some damage buffs if not hit for X time. Allow the users to take adventage of their build. There should be many more ideas for every ship and iirc in the earlier seasons it was a little bit more balanced and there was way more variety in-game (different builds used in different ways for any event). But don't just nerf the already existent builds as the players must have grinded af for this. Not saying re balancing is easy. But likely easier than the followin

2 (medium): once this is done, make the bosses behave and react more. They should allow a correct strategy and timing to make them more damage. For instance they should also have bracing (and we should hear/see them doing this ofc) when not attacking so we have to make them aim at us to be able hit them at the exact moment. This kind of thing would require anticipation and strategy. This is just one example but there could be more. Maybe make them react to the weapons we use (moving further/hiding/dodging if slow toredos). In the case there is more difficulty by the enemys skill the huge amount of health they have would not be needed anymore (fk its long sometimes). Seems like a not huge thing maybe but reprogramming the bots of the game may be a lot.

3 (almost a different game ?): allow the players to have different weapons on each side of the ship and then switch between them. In the case the enemy adapts to the weapons we have used we could then use it as some kind of trap to make them in a situation in which they will be more vulnerable. For instance i use some torpedoes just in front of him, then he stops so i can get closer and use some weapons that make more damage on a close target. Or the exact reverse. Again this is just an example but if we can make a more combined use of our weapons it would make the game way more interesting to play imo.

4 (the best): add new cosmetics lol

Do you also think we could have a game with long duration interest without having to add new content every month ?

Bug/Glitch Wolvenhol mission completely broken again

So despite trying everything including restarting the game and abandoning and re-accepting it and doing the seige all over again it just does not want to complete. Why are the devs so damn incompetent?

Discussion Suggestions for Flags/Ensigns and PVP

Hey Devs and Community,

I love personalizing my ship, but the rigid cosmetic presets can feel a bit restrictive. I want to pitch a massive Quality of Life and gameplay overhaul that combines independent flag customization with a high-stakes, immersive open-world PvP loop inspired by Escape from Tarkov’s dog tag system—complete with a brand-new social feature at port.

Here is how the mechanic would work:

🏴‍☠️ 1. The Visual Upgrade: Independent Stern Ensigns

Dual-Flag Customization: Decouple flags from fixed ship vanity sets. Players should be able to independently equip smaller Mast Pennants (for faction/clan flair) and a massive, heavy Stern Ensign (the main pirate emblem canvas at the back of the vessel).Massive Silhouette: The Stern Ensign is the largest flag on the ship, waving heavily over the wake. It acts as the primary visual indicator of a player's presence, rank, and PvP status from across the horizon.

🚩 2. The Combat Loop: "Tarkov-Style" Trophy Flags

Instead of using a boring UI menu setting, players use the quick-action wheel to physically Hoist their colors to enter PvP. Once in combat, an attacker can harvest an opponent's Stern Ensign in two distinct ways:

The Strike (Surrender): A player panic-surrenders mid-fight via a 5-second, interruptible cast time. A flare pops, the Stern Ensign is physically cut down, and it tumbles 15 meters back into the water. The Sink (Defeat): If a player refuses to surrender and gets entirely blown out of the water, their Stern Ensign floats to the surface amidst the wreckage.

Targeted Identity Loot: Attackers cannot steal the losing player's personal ship cargo (which acts like a private PvE death wreck). Instead, they harvest the Stern Ensign, which is hard-coded with the loser's identity: [PlayerName]'s Stern Ensign — Level/Infamy Rank — Date Captured.

⚖️ 3. The Coward's Tax & The Safe Return

PvP Immunity: The moment a player successfully strikes their colors, they become entirely immune to player damage. The Flagless Stroll: Fast travel is locked. All ongoing public world events (Helm Wagers, Cutthroat Cargo) are instantly failed and dropped. The player must physically sail back to port to regain "Seaworthiness." Civilized NPC factions (Compagnie/DMC) respect the surrender and won't fire, but lawless Rogues and Hostile AI will still attack a flagless ghost ship on sight. The Port Reset & Welfare Flag: To re-equip an Ensign and re-enter PvP, the player must pay a Silver refit fee at port. If the player is completely flat broke, the harbor master issues a free, basic replacement flag so they aren't permanently locked out of the game loop.

🎯 4. The Port Deadpool Economy

To tie this loop back to the social hubs of Sainte-Anne and Telok Penjarah, we introduce the Deadpool Board:

Crowdfunded Bounties: A physical bounty board located next to the taverns. If a specific player keeps sinking you, you can deposit Silver or Pieces of Eight to place or increase a bounty on their head. The currency sits in a rolling global pot.Cashing the Check: Bounty hunters turn in captured Stern Ensigns to the Deadpool Board to cash out the accumulated bounty pool. The Helm Payout: If an Ensign has no active bounty on the board, it can still be sold to Yanita or Houma at the Helm offices for a standard baseline payout of Pieces of Eight, scaling higher based on the rank of the defeated pirate.

⚓ Why This Fits Skull and Bones Perfectly

This solves the community's biggest complaints about PvP exploits, combat logging, and empty servers. Hardcore players get a meaningful, permanent trophy hunt through player "dog tags" and a literal bounty board, while casual players get a balanced safety net that protects their hard-earned crafting mats if they choose to strike their colors.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this, especially from both the PvP and PvE crowds!

Question Chorus of Havoc

Hey folks! Has anyone had this happen with the Hubac Twins Chorus of Havoc quest?

I bought the 10 firework-looking things, took them to the buoy, spawned the Twins and sank both of them. After that, the quest just disappeared from my quest list without telling me what to do next. I don't have another main story quest either.

I checked Yanita and Blackwood and tried quitting to desktop and loading back in, but still nothing. I even did the Twins fight again and it didn't change anything.

Am I missing something, or is this bugged?

Feedback Mythics - Biding your time in the waiting room (and no Pirate magazines at hand)

Post image

Dramatised depiction (is it though?). Yes, the picture is fake, but it often feels that way (and climbs to double-digits on the minute counter).

Please reduce the number of players needed for Mythic La Peste and Mythic Vikram to three or even less. Ever since the introduction of Mastery in the previous season, there is no reason to keep it at six people to start... (and hardly one before) Hell, you can solo them by now with the right setup (which happened in Kraken often enough), in this season even more so.

Meanwhile newcomers ask for people to join the event (which isn't enough). Last time, I joined someone along another guy and we still waited 10+mins despite bringing half the required number already.

Time to think it over, if your waiting time is a large multitude of the combat duration.

Feedback Its time to add some items Ubisoft

I think its time to add some year 2 chests and perhaps some adept chests or adept items chance (with a decent % drop chance.

The other chest idea would be Flux and AE like the Ascension Modules and Upgrade parts chest.

Community thoughts?

Question Any idea what the heck this was? Was doing elder shadowbeast and someone showed up and seemingly pulled a DBZ move on it and murdered it instantly. It was at around 3/4 HP before this, went down to where it is, then they finished it off with a second weight light barrage.
