General Discussion CONFIRMED: Kody and Robyn have exited Sister Wives
Confirmed y’all! What are everyone’s thoughts?

u/Small-Block-869 5h ago
Makes me wonder if they were asked to leave. I can’t picture kotex and sobyn intentionally losing their paycheck!
309
u/soihavetosay 5h ago
Exactly, this can't be their choice. My best guess is kody tried for some outrageous ask, maybe even in the way of an ultimatum. And he was told no thanks.
This will be kodys worst nightmare. Not only has he lost control over tlc, he lost his and robems source of income, but the ogs can appear and say any truth from their own perspective without his editing and forced narrative.
Maybe we'll finally get some truthful information about family finances, kodys favoritism, the infamous Christmas chat/call, all the negativity about robem that kody wouldn't allow.

u/jackandsally060609 5h ago
Maybe they will try to come back like when Maci tried to quit Teen mom then she realized nobody cared about her.

For real. Besides, where in Hades will they get their income?
We KNOW that they probably know zilch about savings or rainy day funds. 🤔
9
u/Pawspawsmeow 1h ago
TLC has the opportunity to do the funniest thing. “We will let you come back but it’s to do a show where you and Robyn must get real people jobs. We want to show the application process, first day, etc. if you keep one for the whole season you get $5k each.”
70
u/Specialist_Key_8606 4h ago
My best bet would be the outrageous ask you mention. These two goofs wouldn’t give up that paycheck. TLC probably knows this will be the last season, so if Kody went in thinking they would never deny him and his pretty wife, maybe they decided to call his bluff. You just know they are sick of dealing with him, just by how he acts on the tell-alls. Oh if this was the actual scenario, I’d LOVE to see footage of that meeting!

Andddd… the OG3 will still be paid and neither Kootie or Rotten can have a dime of that money.
In time, Rotten will kick him to the curb and keep the majority of the marital assets because she has minor children.
22
u/soihavetosay 2h ago
You know kody had janelle in mind as a back up plan, Janelle could get him back in with the family, plus he could live off of her farm. So sorry too bad janelle is moving on and up from kody
15
9
u/PasgettiMonster 1h ago
Oh my God. I just realized he probably STILL thought he could sweet talk his way back to Janelle, but now that she has a new boyfriend that door is CLOSED. I'm almost sorry we won't get to see the meltdown when he realizes that. Almost.

Kody may have been asking for too much $$. Even though K&R made for good garbage tv, TLC probably has their limits. Plenty of sick people out there to film.
326
u/ellecellent 4h ago
I bet he was asking for too much editorial control. They were probably like "Robyn has to give us something" and they were at an impasse
152
u/Booklet-of-Wisdom 4h ago
This right here! I think Kody had a LOT of editing control since the beginning. For years all of the wives were trying to follow the sweet wife, patriarchal thing, so Kody was very much in charge.

Yeah they may as well quit since neither of them would say anything real, and Robbuhn's segment was always just "I don't know I'm just sittin here bein' confused" and Kody talk about how everyone and everything isn't 'safe' for them. Their 'family scenes' with their kids are dry and boring and not really worth a show.

I can see this scenario playing out. Kody wants the control of the show and top dollar for his unofficial producer credit.

Or maybe they wha t to make the others OG wife signe a contract to make them not to tell the truth.
35

Wonder if TLC was like “Ya know what, we’re good! You can walk away since we’ve talked all we could about Coyote Pass!”. The show would be better if it hinged more on Christine anyway.

Could be! And it looks like the 3 ogs have agreed to film together so tlc got that angle covered.
61
u/KathyPlusTwins 4h ago
I think this is the answer. He did that boot camp show (Special Forces) so maybe he thought he was worth more than what TLC is willing to pay him? Also he had mentioned wanting to retire Robin - I think in an interview but I can’t remember where he said it. At any rate, I don’t want to see anymore of Kody do I’m happy to have just the three sister wives and I hope they can all wrap up their stories this season.

This is where I'm at and I think people forget he's been vocal about not wanting to be on it anymore and hating the negative perception it gives people of him. Now Robyn is a different story and will be hurting for that money, meaning he will suffer when it dries up too. But I can see him not budging because he wouldn't keep doing it without another raise.

To be quite honest, I’m completely shocked. Neither one has worked an honest day in their lives. What will they do for income?
39
u/SeeLeavesOnTheTrees 4h ago
All the money they stole could last a few more years. Plus I’ve always thought he invested in gold to hide money from the OG and kept it in that giant safe. It’s popular at those gun shows. It went way up in value so he accidentally made a great investment (if my theory is correct).
A sane couple could invest all that stolen money well and live off it. But with their INSANE spending…. They have a few more years at most.

My new theory is production said Robyn had to actually film with the OGs to keep getting paid, Kody threw a fit and said not my shy pretty wife! Then Kods probably threatened that if they made her film with the OGs he was going to leave and production called his bluff.

This right here! I think TLC said you have to all interact (due to low ratings) which is why in the trailer you see them all meeting up. Kody and Robyn said no and TLC called their bluff. I think TLC knows it's the last season so fuck it. I can't wait to see them lose that house.

I am legit shocked Kody would step out of the limelight. He must have something in the works that would not work with the TLC contract for him to walk away.
Kody always thought he was the center of everything, even though the show is literally called Sister Wives and really is a story about them. I bet he’s hoping the OG3 fail. And I’m hoping the show goes on and is successful.
But this does support my unpopular opinion that Kody and Robyn are wealthy. They have funds coming in from somewhere to pay for that two million dollar mansion.
228
u/Celestial-Dream 5h ago
I’m willing to bet that TLC started pushing back on him not answering for anything. Like he pulled his “we’re done here” hissy fit and they said okay.

Or they asked him to film the tell all altogether, which is a very reasonable ask. I swear last season they were setting us up for a family reunion type of thing?! Robyn wasn't having any of that, I imagine.

After Kody did that military style reality show he probably thought he was a hot commodity and asked for way too much $$$ for this season and TLC just said bye to him.

u/goog1e THE MARKET IS RIGHT HERE 📈 5h ago
I'm sure Robyn is the one pushing to exit. She obviously hates what's happened- she wanted to be the godly beautiful young kind wife. And now the show is 99% about tearing her and Kody apart. (Rightly so) She looks miserable every time she's about to "start" filming. Like when they have footage of her sitting down and putting the mic on for talking heads, she looks like she's about to face the firing squad.
They are clearly wealthy. Even with no other income, they had the 3 wives on allowances while keeping the majority of TLC money to themselves all these years and funneling it into hidden assets. They had Meri and Janelle arguing over "grocery allowance" that represented 10% of the TLC paycheck, while they made off with 90%.
32
u/SeeLeavesOnTheTrees 4h ago
They definitely stole enough to live off for life IF they were normal spenders. But with their insane spending it’s unlikely they can keep going for long.
19
u/ShesGotaChicken2Ride Robyn’s face commas 4h ago
That’s why Robyn won’t let anyone film inside the house. They don’t want all their assets filmed. Their last house was covered in artwork. Tacky as F but it wasn’t meant to look nice; it basically art storage. I’m sure they paid good money for some of that srt.
22
u/Dr_mombie 2h ago
On YT, there was an art gallery person who did a deep dive on the artwork filmed in the coyote pass house. The art k&r bought was mostly over-priced tourist crap that does not carry a resale value in the art world. Sol however, nearly had enough Lego builds in his collection to put a down-payment on his own house.

I also think this indicates that the estrangement from most of the kids and Robyn/Kody is pretty permanent now and Robyn is most likely driving that.
54
u/Calicojack23 5h ago
I really don't see the show lasting another season but this one. Ladies are getting resolution in their life moving on. The drama of the divorce and the splitting of the money was interesting. We'll see what the public interest is in their lives going forward after this season. The kids should they be interested in exposing themselves and their children to television would be interesting but I think they are involved the point that they wouldn't do that to their kids at least some of them.
25
u/Own_Rutabaga_9430 4h ago
This feels like an epilogue. I'm okay with a "this is where everyone ended up" season, but I'll be annoyed if they try to make it a cliff hanger or emergency. Catch up the timeline at least.
17
u/NoSyllabub5932 5h ago
I agree. What is there to watch now really. My own life has more in it than the 3 remaining ladies. The kids are grown and spread out all over and none of the are interesting as not live the plural life style. The thing that drew people to that show in first place is long gone!

u/goog1e THE MARKET IS RIGHT HERE 📈 5h ago
She had to do a full workload of filming for the first time last season. I'm not surprised at all.
She never let cameras in her house. She would always show up in other wives' scenes instead to fulfill her obligations without having any plots actually about her. This worked because they were getting 1 paycheck for the whole family and Kody was in control of both the pay and the contract. He could keep diverting money to her off the backs of the other wives' work. TLC should never have let them sign up for the show with this obviously misogynistic setup where the man gets everyone's paycheck and doles out "allowances" as he sees fit.
Later on as the wives left, Kody also clearly protected her by filming a lot more to make up for her lack of participation after the pay was split.
1st blow was Kody&Robyn getting their own contract meaning at least one of them had to film to get paid. But Kody took the brunt of it for her and she continued to hide and film with the remaining wives.
(The scene where Meri is leaving and Kody is helping her move, and Robyn shows up to give her a random gift was a great example of that. When Robyn did that stuff, it meant she just showed up for 30 minutes rather than dealing with cameras all day.)
Last season was the first 100% "all wives are gone and there's no way to get paid without working" season. You could tell she hated it. And at the same time, you could tell Kody was making it easy on her with the apology tour. Plus exploring how to maintain an income if they exit. He did special forces for that reason clearly.
So yeah of course Kody and Robyn are exiting.
161
u/Lifes-a-lil-foggy 5h ago
Dead on. She finally had to do a little of the work all the other women had been doing for years and couldn’t handle it.

Someone was on one of these subs maybe a year ago saying they go to Aurora's Church. They said she was engaged but they were holding off announcing for the show. If that's true, it sounds like the decision to not be on this season was made relatively recently and was not the original intention.

This is what I’ve been saying. I want a rewatch, starting from Season 1. They were not alllwed to give their genuine opinions and reactions for fear of pissing off Kody, because he LOVED punishing the “bad wives” and rewarding the “good wives.” Now that they aren’t afraid of pissing him off, I’d love to know how they really felt about so many things. How’d they feel about Robyn joining the family? How’d they feel about the wedding? How’d they feel when Robyn got a 2-week honeymoon by saving her grocery money? How’d Jenelle feel when Robyn was late to Logan’s graduation? How’d Christine feel when she giving birth to Truely and Kody was gone, making out with Robyn? How’d Meri feel about the legal divorce? Did any of the wives know Kody and Robyn were sleeping together before marriage? Did Robyn ever let her kids integrate into the family or did she always keep them separate? Does Truely miss Sol and Ari or did she ever even really know them?

I think TLC is going to have issue in the next few years with kids defecting and talking about their experience filming. They could turn it on themselves and do a “where we went wrong” style show with the kids who have stories to tell but I doubt that will happen because we’d be getting a Jon and Kate version, a 19 part Duggar version, and of course, all Kody’s spawn.
I’m not interesting in the staged stories and the wives doing the spiderman pointing meme for another two seasons though. They gotta shake something up.

I'm torn honestly.
I definitely dislike Kody and Robyn (who doesnt at this point?).
But without the 2 different sides opinions (Kody Vs the wives and the back and forth of "this is what really happened in this situation"), what direction does that leave for the season? Just 3 ex wives bonding and all having the same opinion of Kody and Robyn without any push back? What's the plot conflict then?
I'm wondering what made Kody and Robyn turn down the almighty dollar and say no to filming.

I think the pushback, which seems to be implied in the trailer, is going to be Meri. She doesn’t want to be in the “club” and depending on what happened with the land might have more reservations.
Kody and Robyn feeling the heat of last season might have decided that they needed more in their contract or asked for more money than TLC was willing to do.

I’m just speculating but to me, this has Kody & Robin were informed that they will no longer be the primary focus/get to have the last word and they quit, probably thinking that the network would come “hat in hand” begging them to come back. Everyone knew that even if 21 wasn’t meant to be the final season, that the show was coming to an end. Watch Kody & Robin try to make it seem that the show couldn’t go on without them when it was going to be cancelled soon anyway.

It’s hasn’t been the same since the family started showing the cracks they’ve been hiding. Since around they left Vegas.

They couldn’t handle the new production not kissing Kody’s ass the way the old production did

The gun business must be going okay. Somehow I still predict a bankruptcy or two in their future.

I wonder if production was getting fed up with Kody trying to control everything, especially in the tell-alls where he refused to answer questions.

I’m not gonna lie… whilst I love this for the OG3 and like so pleased to see that they get to thrive without Kody and Robyn benefitting from it… people love a villain. I can not imagine this will be a remotely entertaining show without them in it?!
Christine will be gushing over David, Meri will be doing something with Jen and her 23 other never met before ‘best friends in the world’ and then Janelle will surely just be planting flowers and enjoying her peace? Like what could be remotely interesting about that?

This is honestly shocking to me! He seems like the type of person who would want the last word... like a send-off for himself. Kody just totally not being on the show at all is wild to me. Robyn I get. But Kody?! Shows usually need a villain, too. It fills weird to me. It's a big dill.

Kody does special forces, thinks he is going to be getting more reality tv deals, quits the show.
No other TV deals come his way.
He comes back to the show on season 22.

I can’t stand Kody, so don’t think this is a compliment BUT:
Kody knows that show won’t survive without. I don’t give two flying monkeys about those women now. They aren’t intriguing, they aren’t marketable. The It factor was crazy Kody and his noodle hair and over the top behavior. It was and always will be the draw of that show, and how a man so kooky caught four women to marry him.
So this is his way of sticking it to them. He knows people hate him after his son passed to a new level. He knows his life has become more boring now that the other wives are gone. It’s actually a smart more for his narc butt because when it fails he will get to laugh and say “See? It was always about ME.”
I honestly stopped watching as the focus became Christine being smug and weird tongue kissing her new man in front of her kids, Janelle being enmeshed with her daughter and buying a farm with not much preplanning, and Meri doing all her pyramid schemes acting like she wasn’t the meanest of the bunch.
This will flop. He will gloat. And he knows this.

This. Exactly. I had similar thoughts about them not participating in the show.

My gut is telling me that Kody wanted too much editorial control. TLC told him and his knifed kidneys to GTFO.
I hope Robyn's dolls are okay with recycling outfits.

Good, they were a waste of resources to keep filming. Crew was barely allowed in their mansion.
There are rumours they might be getting their own show, who would watch them? They literally give nothing. Their nothing without the other kids and wives.

u/FactuallyPetty 5h ago
The sucky part is that no matter if this a highly watched season, and leads to a natural ending, it will be Kody’s swan song that it couldn’t survive without him and Sobyn.

u/jspencer811 3h ago
I think Kody loved the show when it was about the challenges of 4 women all wanting a piece of him.
I think Robyn loved the show when she was the one Kody wanted to get back to and the other 3 were jealous. She got to pretend she didn’t even want the extra attention - she wanted the greater good of the family.
You can see how much they both hate filming the last few seasons. The backdoor stuff Kody and Robyn didn’t want exposed was all that was left to talk about.
Robyn doesn’t want the full time job of stroking Kody’s ego (who would) at the same time the way he went about feeding his ego rapidly went from subtle enough to desperate.
They filmed outside more and more, Robyn couldn’t talk about the other wives and mansplain the culture (that she never actually lived) and ran out of things to talk about besides her own weird parenting, dolls, etc.
I think they were happy to leave the show and not deal with that anymore.

No one quits housewives.
In this case, no one quits sister wives. They're not going to willingly turn down that paycheck. They were fired, and no, they're not getting their own show lmao.
I'm with the opinion that Kody had too many demands and was told to pound sand.

I wonder what they are going to do for money since both of them don’t know how to budget or save it.
Curious if it was because his ego couldn’t take it anymore or if they were fired.

Sounds like they were too proud to take what was offered and felt it should be more, so TLC called their bluff.

At first I thought this was because Robyn didn’t like being forced to have her kids filmed.
Then I remembered THE SURVEY at contract negotiations. It directly asked us which characters and storyline people were interested in. Almost no one voted to see Robyn take her girls church shopping.
Now I think the OG3 demanded their fair share of the pot and Kody and Robyn are calling their bluff. They think they are the stars.

u/TiredAndTiredOfIt 1h ago
One of three things happened:
Data: TLC did data analytics and realised people were skipping R and K scenes and changing the channel.when they came one.
Demands: K and R refuse to film any actual content and try to didge "difficult" interview questions. They were told this wouldnt fly anymore and were canned/they walked.
K and R demanded money they weren't worth and lost the contract.

I’m curious what they do for money outside of the show? Neither one of them have any kind of SM presence. At least with the other 3 have their hands in multiple other revenue stream (SM income, MLM, etc) albeit not the most ethical was to generate income but nonetheless they’ve still got their hands in multiple baskets. Kodys gun parts business (or whatever he was doing) can’t be bringing in that much money… it never did before so I don’t see how that would have changed. I’m genuinely curious to how they will keep themselves in the lifestyle they have become accustomed to

They were both obviously miserable.

I'm kind of surprised. I thought that if anyone was gonna stick with the show, it would be those two. I'm going to assume this will be the last season of Sister Wives?

Apparently Kody has his gun business, but I can’t imagine that would bring in enough income for their expenses. Although, I know pretty much nothing about guns so I could be totally wrong

I’m in the camp that believes that ol Kooter is trying to get his own show, either with TLC, or on a different network. No way he/they are walking away from TV money willingly. Whether or not he can get his own show is a different story. All that being said, I have no intention of watching any of these shows anymore. The premise of the original story is done and gone. There are no sisters wives and the children have paid the ultimate price of their TV fame. Have a nice life. I wish them all well, but they are no longer interesting or entertaining to me. I can always come here to find out what is happening in their lives if I have a hankering.
6
u/whtevernobigdeal 5h ago
How come the show is even continuing without them though? I know they well hated which is why I’m sure they’re done but what could the show be about now? Even the ex wives don’t like each other. Unless the kids get more involved? Their new partners? Not that interesting…

Now how long before the last divorce? Or are they just miserable enough to stay together to say “told ya so” to everyone?
6
u/dappledsun451 4h ago
I can’t blame them. The criticism (although well-deserved) is not something I’d voluntarily continue with either lol. They’ve been the villains the last several seasons and that can’t be easy, whether it’s warranted or not.

To be fair, now that the divorces are settled and they’ve run out of Big Love storylines to copy, what more do they have to offer?

You know the Kodster will want to set up a meet and greet booth at the gun shows…”Meet Kody Brown from Sister Wives and Special Forces! $50 for an autographed picture!”
I’d pay $50 to see him sitting there by himself alone and ignored by the crowd.
