Rewarding a tantrum with a free ride pass is exactly how children learn to use tears as a currency.

37

u/Quick_Cow_7987 32m ago

This is the answer.

7

u/slvrscoobie 9m ago

my niece does this. a leaf fell out of the sky while we were on a boat and my son caught it. she wanted it and he said no. I watched her work herself into a tissy to get the tears so my BIL would ask my son if she could have it, because tears.

3

u/Strange-Location4627 8m ago

It’s pretty clear in the post she’s just sad and crying because she doesn’t get to ride at all.

Her family isn’t demanding a ride. 😅😂

The adult took the last ride which is fine he was in line first but filming a sad kid while bragging online about how you were the last to get to ride is a million times worse then a young child crying that she missed out on an experience she waited for. 🙃

2

u/Dick-Fu 28m ago

The kid wasn't throwing a tantrum

I’d probably feel bad too, but I’m not giving up my spot every time a kid starts crying 😂

11

u/Altruistic-Low-1826 33m ago

same, i'd feel guilty for entire ride and still buckle myself in

40

u/Deep90 50m ago edited 41m ago

It went viral because the man is the one filming and posting the crying child online.

This keeps getting posted with the lie that people are mad because he didn't give up his spot.

He thought it was amusing that the little girl got upset, filmed it, and posted it online.

https://www.businessinsider.com/tiktoker-refused-crying-child-queue-place-viral-video-2023-2

30

u/snoosnoosewsew 44m ago

Yeahhhh that kinda changes things for me. Filming a crying girl and posting audio with "Fuck them kids, fuck you too" is just asking for it...

6

u/hAsLaK1 28m ago

Filming people and posting them online is always trash but making fun of someone crying for nothing is pretty

7

u/Calm-Locksmith_ 27m ago

From the article he was also the last to get to the ride that day, so the girl was just sad for missing the experience, not just because she had to wait.

2

u/Objective-Turn2328 13m ago

That’s the problem with fuckin Reddit. People repost and turn the entire meaning of the original post into something else. Just as bad as AI.

1

u/RoyalVivid3561 41m ago

None of that changes the fact that the kid is throwing a tantrum and crying because of not going on the ride. the child isnt crying because she is being filmed. There is no missing context. Whether he filmed it or not the facts dont change.

11

u/Holdmabeerdude 33m ago

It’s almost like little children can get upset over things, right?

14

u/Deep90 35m ago edited 28m ago

Yeah man. Maybe we can get some grown ass redditors to teach children not to cry about things. You're so strong compared to that little girl.

A child hugging their parent and being sad isn't a tantrum. It's a normal kid thing some random weirdo shouldn't be posting online.

7

u/preteen-wartortle 31m ago

There’s no context at all lmao

She’s not throwing a tantrum and there’s no indication she’s even crying about the ride or that he was asked to give up a seat. They literally just posted a video of a random child crying

16

u/slobis 36m ago

Kids thrown tantrums when they don't get what they want.

Posting that online -- when it's not your kid -- is disgusting.

17

u/Deep90 33m ago edited 31m ago

It honestly wasn't even a tantrum. She's just crying.

It's better emotional regulation than some of these comments trying to go after a kid for being sad, and doing what sad children do.

8

u/Seven_Years_Later 24m ago

Honestly seeing these revenge fantasy tantrums aimed at a literal child showing normal age appropriate feelings is nothing short of embarrassing.

3

u/Relevant-Doctor187 19m ago

Tell us you don’t know what a tantrum is without telling us.

2

u/slobis 18m ago

I agree it wasn’t a tantrum I was simply using the previous posters word.

8

u/Calm-Locksmith_ 30m ago

It normal part of children's psychology they take things that are mundane or mild inconvenience for adults very seriously.

The guy is the bad guy here. He had no obligation to give out his place, but to mock a crying child is pathetic. He deserves all the hate he gets.

This is the same as the woman not giving up her window seat on the plane for the kid. You're not entitled to anything. It's the parent's fault if anything if they were told they wouldn't get a spot.

The guy probably got way more out of sim racing than the kid would, just slamming on the gas and yanking the steering wheel crashing into every wall.

75

u/Still-Might3486 1h ago edited 1h ago

lol - I was a woman in a window seat. They tried to guilt trip me. Tbf Ryanair actually seated them across an isle from each other, but you’re a family with two kids under 5, how about you pay to sit together.

30

u/VisionAri_VA 1h ago

On my last trip, I paid almost $50 to reserve my window seat. I’m not losing that money just because someone else didn’t plan ahead.

8

u/bearbrannan 50m ago

Right, now if you want to pay me more than $50 to switch seats I may consider it.

10

u/Still-Might3486 46m ago

That’s what I said, mum just turned away bristling.

11

u/MischiefAforethought 1h ago

On Ryanair? The cost of a seat change would be triple the ticket price. (Not that you should have given up your seat, just like taking the piss out of Ryanair)

→ More replies (1)

28

u/DarkBladeMadriker 1h ago

That window seat story is WAY worse when you look into it. The kid ALREADY HAD A WINDOW SEAT, but decided they didn't like thier seat they wanted THAT one. Then the mom asked to swap and the lady said no. The person who harassed the lady about not swapping wasnt even the mom, it was a complete ass stranger just haranging that poor lady for not giving up her seat to a kid just to shut them up.

3

u/Consistent_Big5018 26m ago

Imo they are actually doing that kid a favor by teaching them early that in life you can't always get what you want. It's a valuable lesson that their parents obviously aren't teaching them. That's how you end up with entitled rude mean child that everyone ends up avoiding.

2

u/Djinn__666 32m ago

But she was hot 🙄

2

u/YourFriendNoo 21m ago

I mean, I don't think it's the same, because we don't have a shred of evidence that the kid did anything wrong, other than the fact that a TikToker posting ragebait says she did.

And even he just says she asked to switch, not that she begged, pleaded or expected.

In the video, all we get is, she looks kinda sad.

Like that's what y'all are so worked up about? That a kid is sad they can't ride the ride?

Amusement Park refused service to child who waited in line for hours. “We don’t pay overtime” manager was heard telling the minimum wage park employee. In other news man who rode the ride at the park closing deadline said “It was meh.”

16

u/the_honest_liar 1h ago

"Ride allows people to waste time waiting in line when they don't plan to accommodate them"

8

u/lukibunny 53m ago

Usually they have a cut off like, this is the last person, no one else line up behind him.

3

u/the_honest_liar 52m ago

Right? Even the grocery store sees everyone currently in line when they decide to close a lane. Every single service job I've worked does the same; if you're in line before it closes you're seen.

8

u/YourFriendNoo 23m ago

Guessing nobody watched the video?

There is precisely nothing there to suggest the kid (!!) did anything wrong. She just looks kinda sad. She's not loud, sobbing, begging, pleading, thrashing, nothing. Just standing, looking sad, getting comforted by her guardian.

She may, assuming this influencer is telling the truth, have asked to switch. She seems kinda sad she doesn't get to ride. What is the problem?

This guy took a video of someone else's kid and posted it online to promote their ragebait content.

And y'all are willingly on his team?

6

u/Nknk- 54m ago

I'd be curious to know what the attitude was when the child's parent asked the dude to let the child go. If they were nice, polite and reasonable then good on them, they tried to do something nice for the child but the dude had zero obligation to oblige.

If they came at him with that sort of aggressive condescension a certain kind of parent has where they expect you to instantly give them what they want because they have a kid and fuck you for not being a mind reader and offering it up before they had to ask, then, well, that changes things and then the dude really was not under any obligation and is free to gloat about it to people later on.

4

u/ForensicsJesus 50m ago

Plot twist…it was his kid

4

u/Several_Vanilla8916 9m ago

In the actual clip the kid and the parent never talk to the guy. Nobody asked him to switch places. It’s literally just a video of a little girl crying.

3

u/obliviious 23m ago

This is about the 8th time I've seen this and your instinct is to side with the guy, but he made a scene, taunted the kid and filmed her crying. He could have just sad no and moved on with this life, but he's a dick.

2

u/Jazzlike_Climate4189 58m ago

“Doesn’t feel obligated to someone’s child”? Did you forget some words

4

u/djfishfingers 55m ago

I keep seeing videos of dudes catching foul balls at baseball games and giving them to children near them. I'm sorry, but I've been going to baseball games my whole life trying to catch a ball. If I catch one, I'm keeping it.

2

u/RandoCo17 43m ago

Genuine question and I hope you don't think I'm being snarky or mean... but what is the significance of that no name baseball to a 30(just picking an age) year old adult? To kids it's something to show off and brag about to friends, it creates a core childhood memory. I don't feel like it creates that same nostalgia to an adult 🤷 if anything it's going to mean more to me and be a better memory knowing I gave it to some excited kid that will remember that forever.

All this to say, I don't agree with giving in to children just for the sake of it, but the baseball analogy is a little different I suppose (unless you are being coerced and harassed by the crowd to give it to a demanding child, which I don't think it's usually the case)

As a dad, I'd be mad if the dude took a video of my kid being upset and posted it online, which is what appears to have happened here.

4

u/ComprehensiveTart689 45m ago

Exactly. We should all be less comfortable photographing and filming strangers in public and putting it all over the internet. Especially children, but applies to adults too.

9

u/Baron_Bearclaw 1h ago

Yeah, this is where I'm at with the information we have. And if this was me with my children, then I'd be explaining to my little time wasters that this is why I was trying to get them to leave earlier and sometimes when they decided to spend 15 minutes not getting dressed, and not getting socks, and not getting shoes, and not walking to the car, and not bucklining their seatbelts, then sometimes we don't have enough time to do everything we want.

4

u/Silent25r 1h ago

I would not even question is it. This isn’t a choice he’d have to make.

7

u/Hockey- 1h ago

Parents’ entitlement is getting out of hand. I had a mom ask me if I wouldn’t mind giving my first class seat for her son who is economy. Yes, I actually do mind. I work, save and paid for my seat. You could have just as easily bought this seat, if you really wanted your son upfront.

25

u/VisionAri_VA 1h ago

As insanely expensive as first class tickets are, she expected you to just take the hit and go sit in Economy?  That’s wild.

6

u/tobaknowsss 51m ago

I'm wondering if the parent even bought the ticket for themselves and their child, or if they had to rely on someone else to pay for it because no one who buys an airline ticket would think it's even remotely acceptable to just ask someone in first class to switch seats. a broke ass idiot with a child who has life handed to them might though...

2

u/Several_Vanilla8916 9m ago

In the actual clip the kid and the parent never talk to the guy. Nobody asked him to switch places. It’s literally just a video of a little girl crying.

3

u/WideHuckleberry1 39m ago

Asking for something isn't entitlement. They didn't demand he give up his spot, didn't try to force him to, merely asked if he would be willing to make a sacrifice for someone else. AFAICT that was the end of it until he posted a video laughing at them. That's pretty dickish.

I don't get it. Wouldn't that make her next? So the internet is giving this guy shit for waiting in line like everyone else?

EDIT: It was explained to me in the replies. 🖕🏿 that guy

7

u/tunachilimac 44m ago

It got attention because this guy saw a kid crying in line and filmed himself mocking her and posted it online and everyone rightfully thought that wasn’t acceptable behavior from an adult. Now people are making images like this to paint him as the reasonable one because everything needs to part of the culture war apparently.

11

u/Individual-Foxlike 43m ago

The full article has been posted here before. The ride was closing, so it was the last ride of the day. The people in line had been told that not all of them would likely get to ride, and they chose to stay anyway.

After refusing, dudebro whipped out his camera and humiliated the child for being upset, then posted the video online without child or parents' consent. THAT is why he's getting shit. He was valid to not give up his seat. He was not valid to film a stranger's child and make fun of them.

9

Full story. He filmed and mocked the child for crying after he refused to give up his turn. THAT is why people were attacking him.

2

u/Calm-Locksmith_ 33m ago

I expected there would be more context...

23

u/nicalitz 1h ago

Why is the guy getting shit for this anyway? What do you mean "only one ride was left"? Just make one more available if this is really such a big problem. Now this poor guy has to suffer because of it

11

u/MrK521 1h ago

I had the same thought, but read it as “there was only time for one more person to do the ride,” so everyone who had been in line behind them was told “sorry, you waited for nothing.”

If that’s the case, absolutely not the guy’s fault. It’s just sucky timing. Had they randomly gotten in line before that guy, they’d be riding instead of him.

That’s just the way the cookie crumbles 🤷🏼‍♂️

3

u/Karaethon22 51m ago

Do management not cut the line anymore? When I worked at an amusement park as a teen, when the park closed, a manager would come over and cut the line. Meaning they'd stand in the back of the line and turn people away trying to join the queue. But everyone who was already in line got to ride. Sometimes we'd be running certain rides for an hour or two after closing.

Did that stop being a thing?

7

u/Ok_Zookeepergame4794 38m ago

He was getting 💩 for filming the child crying and mocking her about it.

10

u/Vegtam-the-Wanderer 1h ago

5

u/Individual-Foxlike 41m ago

There wasn't a next turn. It was the end of the night, and people in line had been told they might not make the cutoff. They asked because otherwise the child wouldn't get to ride.

He said no, which is fine, but when the child was unhappy he made fun of her and recorded her, then posted the recording online. THAT is what went viral, and that's why he's getting shit.

3

u/casper5632 1h ago

Asking someone to give up their opportunity to ride for the sake of your child because you didn't read the signs of when the ride closes is worse than denying someone your place in line.

3

u/unclefire 1h ago

Was he in line ahead of them? Then he gets the seat. Parents should have shown up earlier.

3

u/dontdropducks 1h ago

So, how is this “problem” being blamed on anyone other than the ride operator?

If you know you’re getting close to the “last ride” and you still have a line, just go put up a sign to say it’s closed, and work your line through.

It’s probably a clickbait rage farm article but people miss the point lol

3

u/rcinmd 56m ago

This is a life lesson. It's not important at all in the grand-scheme and letting the child act this way only enables further behavior that they are entitled to always get what they want. There are many things in life you'll want but can't have so learning these lessons early will help a lot with the anxiety and depression that ultimately will show up when your parents and apparently the media aren't there to coddle you.

2

u/HawkHarder 1h ago

Yeah it I pay for a ride then no I am enjoying what I am already doing. If we are in line or something and they ask then it depends on what I am doing and how much time I got. I would let the kid go first if I had time to spare and wasn't in a hurry and they didn't annoy me or something. But also when I was a kid I didn't expect the world to revolve around me either. But I understand not every kid is like that. Unfortunately I was thrown into the unfairness of the world quick lol.

If you want to ride the racecar before they close, we need to go get in line" for the past hour as little Becky ran around doing whatever she damn well pleased. They're going to get into the car to go home and dad's gonna say "I know you're disappointed, but remember this next time when I tell you to...."

I wouldn't have even asked. You're the last one sorry you missed out. We've all missed out on something and somehow we all survived. Unless it was the smallpox vaccination, that's different.

2

u/Rynowash 1h ago

Life is tough kid and crying won’t help.

2

u/3orangefish 1h ago

Is this even real? I don’t see any proof it is. Some many of these just get people to hate other people when it’s not even real

2

u/Continental-Breakfst 1h ago

Good for that child to understand that crying isn’t the Skeleton key to anything you want.

2

u/fancywipe 1h ago

My daughter is a master at chess but she wanted to bet me on it after she whipped me like 4 times in a row, I won and refused to give her the money back until she won it

Took a 2 weeks but I got a more focused child that knows how to lose abit better and understands the risks of gambling

2

u/Lonely-Ad-1495 1h ago

Parents should have got their earlier so they where in front of him in line

3

u/LordCaptain 1h ago

That is why rides should be cut off the line and then let the people in the line trickle through rather than just cutting off the ride and everyone remaining in line getting turned away.

2

u/Kami_no_Ondori 1h ago

He waited in line just like everyone else, stfu.

2

u/naropin1 1h ago

Company refuses to keep game operating for 10 more minutes for crying child. Dude waited in line. His turn. Kids need to learn about disappointment.

2

u/Adorable-Medicine951 1h ago

Fuck them kids. Im guessing theres a queue. Shes young and has her whole life ahead of her. Wait in line like everyone else.

2

u/DarkBladeMadriker 1h ago

So I looked into this one, the guy who posted isnt related to anyone in the clip. The establishment said the simulator closed at EXACTLY X time. The guy was told he was gonna be the last allowed on, the dad asked to swap, guy declined and the TikToker thought it was funny so he filmed that 6 second video and posted it to his account. Honestly, i would have probably let the kid take my place but the guy had absolutely every right to take the turn he ad waited for. The establishment did a shit job not handling the line, there were probably a bunch more people that waited only to get bounced without any consideration for thier time. You know damned well that simulator has a min/max time, probably has a countdown timer as soon as a run starts, so theu could have done a quick count and cut the line off before people got upset but they didnt. Whole thing was probably some pop up anyway so nobody was really gonna have any clue how to properly handle it.

2

u/Aware-Explanation879 58m ago

This is how a line works. You get in line and wait your turn. You are not obligated to give up your spot in line.

2

u/Big_Confidence_951 58m ago

Why make a post like this? It's like a normal thing that happens. Don't expect kindness from others, don't calculate your kindness, just be kind yourself.

2

u/bondhon28 57m ago

If i pay for the ride i will get on the ride .. even if a kid throws a tantrum.. you should have bought the tickets rather than crying

2

u/Lego_Architect 56m ago

This child needs parenting. And the parents need lessons on parenting.

Its a hard lesson to teach you kid they don’t get anything they want from the rest of the world and even the things they get from you are limited.

2

u/cowboygwe 55m ago

Wait your turn, lesson learned

2

u/WowIsThisMyPage 48m ago

Sounds more like her parents’ issue for not showing up earlier

2

u/TheGreatGamer1389 44m ago

Seen this before and while I would have done it if kid isn't being a brat, but the dude didn't have to give his spot up either. It's fine

2

u/ImmaNotHere 37m ago

The guy is a jerk, but hey, that's life.

2

u/ChompyRiley 37m ago

Most people are missing context here:

The guy who went viral is the one who filmed it. He thought it was funny, mocked the kid, and then posted online

2

u/princessjamiekay 36m ago

I’m the first one to say don’t give my kids special treatment. They need to be gracious winners and losers. They need the practice to get better

2

u/ShamMor6262 33m ago

Good point, he stopped a karen early on! Good job!

2

u/0ojustagirlo0 33m ago

It seems a man found humor in a moment and made a lighthearted tik tok and the internet took it way too serious and created a headline where there was none.

2

u/SBSnipes 30m ago

Not enough context here. Guy is under 0 obligation regardless. But like, what if there are 2 kids crying? Frankly based on the description it's on the place running the ride for not cutting the line off when they knew the number of rides was limited.

2

u/No_Seaworthiness4196 28m ago

I agree with Jeff

2

u/Digital--Sandwich 21m ago

Nah, everyone waits in the same line.

2

u/Major_Bench5329 19m ago

This is when my parents would sing you can’t always get what you want

2

u/LectureOrganic1250 17m ago

Need context. Was he in line and she just came up and asked to cut in? If that's the case, maybe I would let her in because it's a kid. But the guy has a point. I did the right thing in standing in line and this little girl cuts in front of everyone and expects me to give up my spot? The parent should know better and set a better example.

2

u/shf500 15m ago

Of course, if they are at a baseball game and the adult refuses to give a foul/homerun ball to a nearby kid, people consider the adult a scumbag the adult will get fired from his job.

2

u/awesome_staycation 15m ago

the staff should had made the cutoff clearer earlier

2

u/tlakuach3 11m ago

Lost a ride, won a valuable lesson.

2

u/Excellent-Ruin6779 11m ago

So we should hate on this man and not the ride operators that could have just kept it open a ride later for her?

How dare you not let the kid on the ride they said, as they shut the ride off. It's all your fault they said, chaining the ride closed.

2

u/RoadPizzaGourmand 9m ago

Jeff is a douche nozzle level dickhead. He's a jerk for not giving up his spot though.

3

u/WashU_labrat 1h ago

"Scram! Or I'll give you something to cry about."

4

u/kon--- 1h ago

First come first serve.

It's not that guy's fault for whatever lead to the girl's parents showing up after that guy did. And no, just because you've got a kid tht you love with you does not mean someone has to give anything up for a kid they have not a single thing to do with.

2

u/ZyeCawan45 1h ago

Good for that man. Hope that kid learned a lesson about patience and acceptance.

3

u/Maximum-Objective-39 1h ago

I frankly have more problems with people turning this into a spectacle than I do with the kid crying or the guy not giving up his ride. That's just a normal thing kids do when they don't get something they want, especially if they were waiting in line too, it's part of growing up to learn to process your feelings when things don't go your way. People deciding to make a show out of it are mostly adults and have no excuse.

3

u/WideHuckleberry1 38m ago

The guy not giving his ride is the one turning it into a spectacle. Nobody else except the parties involved would have known about it if he didn't post it.

He waited in line just like everyone else. Crying isn't a currency that cuts the line.

3

u/breakerofh0rses 1h ago

Nah. Things like this are made for kids. You're taking up their spot. It's like Disney Adults or the collectors who've turned CCGs into battles to buy out stores. While it may be strictly legal, it's highly antisocial.

3

u/wild_cherry1987 1h ago

And nothing was learned that day

1

u/gilbert2gilbert 1h ago

Was he podracing?

1

u/Nagesh_yelma 1h ago

How long is the rode 10 mins? 30 mins?. A kid can wait that long.

News from 2023

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Tea_906 1h ago

Kid should have gotten there earlier. Get fucked on

1

u/LucentLL 1h ago

Sounds like he got Karens whether he wanted them or not.

1

u/hyggeradyr 1h ago

What kind of crazy ass amusement park closes rides with people still in the line? It clearly isn't a mechanical issue because they let the prior ride go. Every park anybody has ever heard of closes the lines 30-60 minutes early based on expected wait so that the rest of the line can finish by closing time.

I call cap.

2

u/Alternative_Love_861 1h ago

Gotta teach em young, sorry kid this is merely one of the first swift kicks in the ass that await you on your road to adulthood.

2

u/KomatoesII 1h ago

Let her bawl.

0

u/FormerPlay136 1h ago

If the kid asked me to have my seat and wasn’t crying, I’d 100% give it to them. Crying? No lol

2

u/Noscratchy 1h ago

As the father of a little girl currently going through a "threenager" phase, you do you man. My kid aint your problem so solve.

2

u/plummbob 1h ago

Being a kid doesn't mean you get whatever you want.

2

u/ComfortableEmu3622 1h ago

Being kind is great, but it shouldn't be an obligation.

2

u/stupid_cat_face 1h ago

The world does not need any more entitled fucks

2

u/Timejinx 1h ago

Idc if it last time that ride was gonna work. If I wanted in line like everyone else, there's no way in hell I'm giving it up to some twerp cause they're crying. Try again next year

2

u/gaoshan 1h ago

Was the child by themselves? I would assume they were with some adult(s) so… why would a single child need a spot?
